  • Sorry for the poor audio. Just a little ramble about the Trigger sizing which may help if you are in the market for one. I believe there is also now a MIPS version which is a little more expensive. I am not a fan of MIPS so went with this one which isnt. I am not sure if both versions will be marketed alongside each other.
    Link to the other sizing video which I mention in this video:

    If it helps anyone, I have a 58 cm head and tried both sizes. The S/M actually fit way better. I was grateful to commit to trying both on.

    Awesome review. There are very few videos about said helmet. I just got mine today locally.
    Coming for Giro M, I’m quite suprised at IXS’ sizing.
    The Xact model in L/XL snug perfectly.
    Trail model in S/M.
    Trigger and Trigger FF in M/L.
    .
    Trigger FF,
    I have to use the supplied thicker cheekpads and
    The ergofit dial harness set in the lowest of 3 levels, makes the fit better.
    And yes, like u, I have to max. dial for perfect fit.

      @@rowdy7152 I'm right at 58 and I feel the S/M (with MIPS) is uncomfortably tight around my jaws. Haven't even gone for rides yet, but just wearing it for a few minutes gives me slight jaw aches and is pretty difficult to take on/off. The other vid I saw said to size down if on the border but now I'm not sure if sizing up will be right either.

    If I may add, I got it for a good price so risked without trying it on, I'm at the bottom of the sizing range, 54cm forehead circumference, I'm of a slight build and while the adjusent strap has a bit of range left still, I could use slightly thicker set of pads, the one included just barely press onto my chicks, good enough for what I want to use this helmet for, but not ideal.

    • @planemo191
      @planemo191  2 роки тому

      I have actually added an additional foam piece (from the spares kit of an old cycle helmet) to the front band that goes round the forehead. This makes the fit perfect, in fact I now have another 3 clicks left on the adjuster now, instead of none before.

    Thanks for the review. Was looking for something like that, as my head size (depending on how i measure it) is about 57,2 - 57,5 cm. From your review I gather I should get the S/M size. The question is, does the MIPS distort your measurment / fit tips? I mean does it make the helmet effectively smaller? I don't suppose manufacturers make different shell sizes depending on whether they intall MIPS or not. Did you have a chance to compare your lid with one with MIPS?

    • @planemo191
      @planemo191  Рік тому

      Hi, no I didnt compare with a MIPS version, sorry. Not sure if it will affect sizing either although thats a good question. It may do. I do have a MIPS Fox Speedframe and there is deffo a gap for movement so the manufacturers may make a bigger shell for MIPS. Really difficult one, I wish I could be more help :(

    An interesting and relevant review.
    The theme is just right for me, with my head size 56-57 cm. So, all the same, the size is S / M (54-58cm). I have another question. If we compare Fullface helmets, in terms of external size. After all, they cannot be the same for all companies that produce such Fullface helmets. I would not like to have a very large helmet on the outside. But I have no experience with such Fullface helmets. How can you conditionally call this Fullface helmet, compact and large? I understand that calling this type of helmet small is silly.

    • @smeefbeef367
      @smeefbeef367 2 роки тому

      I’ve been shopping for helmets heavily recently. Specifically full face with high breathability and MIPS. This is definitely one of the less bulky options for under $400, and considerably lighter than most. I just bought the IXS trigger FF MIPS in size S/M and my helmet is 1 pound 4 ounces and some change.

    On the both sides of the white SixSixOne helmet there are two foils with black wires (and maybe a battery pack on the back?). Are those some kind of LED strips? Could you please give me a link for them?

      Hi yes they are EL Glo strips as I use the 661 helmet on my electric unicycle at night. I got them at www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Motorcycle-Helmet-Light-Strip-Motor-Bike-Night-Riding-Luminous-Lights-Signal-/333875216770?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

    Thank you for this great review and explanation. My head is 57.3 measured , and im leaning towards S/M size ,but do you think that M/L with the bigger cheek pads and maxed out in the back will fit me? Im also worried that those bigger pads will eventually in time become smaller do to wear

    • @planemo191
      @planemo191  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your comment. Re your size, I must admit you are in a very difficult position. Do you wear glasses? Do you have a 'tall' head? In any event I'm with you, I think I would be erring towards the S/M as I would be concerned that the M/L would run out of adjustment. That said, if you use glasses and/or have a tall head I woukd be thinking about the larger size. If push comes to shove, you could always add some sticky backed foam strip to the internal bands. It would only need a thickness of a few mm. Just a thought.

    • @planemo191
      @planemo191  2 роки тому

      Hi, because you are well outside any crossover issues, I really dont think you will have a problem with whatever shape your head is. The band system and general shell internal shape should cater no problem. In my opinion its only a consideration when you are inbetween sizes :)

      I'm a 59cm but i guys i would say i have a long head. My ML fit really well. The dial adjustment can tighten but also adjust up and down for different head shapes. If i had to pick from your options i would say it naturally suits a round head but can adjust to most

      I'll agree with you mate, the Trigger strap is set quite far back compared to many other lids I have had. But its no biggie for me. I have mine so that its gently pressing against my skin. As long as the lid wont pull off (which it wont even if its just touching) its all good :)
