Jukka had a migraine,you will notice Tuomas moves his head to tell Empuu to check on him.

Marcogasm! And Emppu is so good, with the very gilmouresgue tone and the deep feelings.
Marko Hietala is a straight up Rockstar. His voice is amazing. And to deliver big, a song like this...on the.night it was recorded?! You can feel the waves of emotion from everyone!
Def check out Tides by Tarot, and his new project Pyre of the Black Heart has 2 great singles Stones and Voice of My Father. I prefer his vocals in Finnish, much more passionate...but his talent is massive. Anyone listen to the demo of Poet and the Pendulum, sung entirely by Marko?!
And, yes Dolly, he does have magical hair!
Have to respect Jukka (the drums) suffering imsomnia and migraine. But still his drumming and style, I love it ❤🤘
After this show, they fired Tarja. The open Letter is written. Look in the faces from Tuomas, Marko and Jukka. And Emppu, no smile.
Thanks for the insight- I noticed that they all seemed ver serious. This shows you what professionals they are.
It didn’t help that Jukka was suffering from a bad migraine. Early on in the song you can see Tuomas jerking his head, telling Empuu to check on him.

at this level, it's not a cover, it's a tribute ;).
Jukka was just chilling, that hunched over thing was one of his signatures.
And if Tuomas looked like he was somewhere else, well, this performance was sort of the culmination of the pretty unusual circumstances of this show: their final one with Tarja, only she wasn't aware of it. The atmosphere was... interesting, to say the least.
I've only seen Jukka hunched over like this in End of an Era. Are there other videos out there where he does this?

The migraine story is the same as the Tuomas/Tarja unrequited love story...rumor.
Tucking down in a break is part of Jukka's personal drumming style.
Yukka had his head down because he was suffering with a bad migraine during this show.
That is not a certainty. Possibly fake news.
@@mariogansbeke Nope. He even said it in an interview that he had a huge migrane. You can even see Tuomas nodding his head to the side when he looks at Emppu. A gesture that Emppu should go over to Jukka and make sure he was alright.

As you asked... Jukka was suffering a migraine that evening. So maybe what he was doing between his bits was find a dark spot on his face for a few moments (of a little less pain).

The same migraines that later on forced him to stand down from the band, and also servere insomnia.
Jukka is now working as manager for Nightwish, after he got his good friend Kai Hahto, who also plays with Wintersun, to take the sticks for him!
Yeah migraines are horrible! Shortly before you see Jukka resting his head Thuomas is seen making a head-nod to the band I imagine to keep an eye out for Jukkas condition

Jukka was not resting. He was in pain - he played on with the band for another couple of years, but eventually had to step aside and hand over the sticks to his friend Kai.
FYI, Marko won Finland's version of The Masked Singer at the end of 2020. He's an award winning singer!

Of course they can be good without one person away. They HAD MARCO! He is a beast, to say the least.
Pink Floyd are good, but I think the Nightwish version is better than the original :-)
Dare to say (just my personal opinion) that this cover by Marko & Nightwish is better than the original in this case 😊
More Marko singing worth checking out is his old band Tarot like "Tides" and their consert songs from 'Heavy Metal on ice' "Guardian Angel" and "Things that crawl at night" 🤗

Its a Good Cover of a Pink Floyd Song....and that itself is an Honour to say for every Band.....but Nothing can reach the Original.....Marco did a damned good job for sure !

There is some debate about why the drummer, Jukka, was ducking his head down behind the drums. Most say it is because he was suffering from migraine headaches during this tour and that the edit cuts even show Tuomas worried about his situation when, early in the song, he gestures with his head to a backstage tech to check on him. But then again this is debatable, because it was common practice for Jukka to duck down during his silent passages as a part of the overall showmanship to make it appear from the audience point of view that no drummer was present.
A documentary about this concert says that everyone, except Emppu, was suffering an illness of some kind. Besides Jukka's migraines, Tarja reportedly had the flu and was performing with a fever. Marco was dealing with Montezuma's Revenge, and Tuomas was suffering from anxiety and stress from the pressure of the grueling long tour and the knowledge of what was going to happen at the end of the concert, i.e., the Pendulum that was about to fall on the Poet! And then there is Emppu, who is seemingly like the Cheshire Cat, remaining happy and cheerful and unaffected by all the maladies and drama that befalls the band.
Hes just hiding behind the kit for the visual ....until its time to play .

A brilliant tribute to Pink Floyd, the band absolutely on point, but I take my hat off to Jukka. It was the last concert of the world tour. He suffered (and still suffers) from absolute insomnia and, as a result, severe migraines. In this concert he could hardly play, as you could see in some inserts. Toumas was very worried and with his little gestures towards Empuu, he asked him to look after Jukka

NW can do all..as you see. But yes...the band was actually founded to make acoustic mood music and Tuomas needed a guitar player and a female singer nothing more. Check the song "Nightwish" for instance. So there were Tuomas, Emppu and Tarja only in the beginning. Later came other spices to this cake.

Nope. He had a massive migraine that night. It wasn't just for effect - he was in pain/agony .
I get them too , so cringe on that part. ;) It can last for days. & the thought of those lights, & the noise, is nauseating. Epic effort from Jukka.
Jukka the drummer, he had migraine attacks throughout the show. That's why he buckles and holds his head. In one scene you can also see How Emppu looks after him.
I think already in this performance by Marko there is a lot of anger about the band situation, because here everyone, except Tarja herself, knew that she would be fired. This also gives the song itself a deeper, more oppressive mood.
But also a brillant reaction, thank you both.
Go to the Wacken 2013 NW concert, Last of the Wilds. A totally instrumental song. No singing at all. That is how you know you have a great band.

To say he had 1 that night is speculative.
