Dude thanks for the video . I thought only the boss pedals worked with this and I actually have the exact foot switch you have so I’m eternally grateful you made this video . Saved me $40+!
I really appreciated this video. I got the FS-6 switch for my RC505, but all instructions to set it up were clear as mud. Your video got it set up the way I wanted. Thank you!!
@@davebainbridge902 Please explain to me the details of the setup, more precisely what results have you achieved with the FS-6? I have it running in the left pedal mode (Track 1)*Recording-playing-overdubbing* and the right pedal (Track 2) are the same. I tried to make settings based on this video, in order to switch tracks from 1-5, but it did not work.
Thanks a million times for the "all buttons down" tip! I bought a space efficient Ampero Hotswitch double switch pedal just for this only to notice it doesn't work right. Tried other configurations too and they didn't work. Noticed it works only when hitting both buttons down but didn't think of trying the individual buttons after that! So I don't have to replace the foot pedal or hack it either. Also the assign trick is really handy. Saves some buttons for other use. I wonder why they didn't do it that way originally.
Hi there... Am having a serious issue where even though I follow all the steps through, I have to press the foot pedal twice to start recording and to stop it. It behaves eratically. I have gone back to the shop and tried 3 other pedals and always the same issue. I can't seem to find a way to press once to make the pedal work... Have any idea why this would be?
Thanks so much for this video - I was getting very frustrated trying to figure this out for my FS-6 - couldn't figure it out at all from the so called manual
I have the mk2 and am a multi instrumentalist. The more I see videos like this and the not so intuitive way to have foot control with the 500 makes me totally want to switch the Head rush looper and just be done with this. LOL
The problem with devices like this is the versatility. A beatboxer feels at home right away. He won‘t be using footswitches or expression pedals. All he needs to do is check what the effects section can do for him. But the unit also works for us multiintrumentalists. And we need a lot more functionality, so there need to be more layers of control, giving us a harder time initially. If you look at the RC-600, that is designed for guitar players and keyboarders but almost identical to the RC-505/2, you don‘t even find the track buttons. So, a solution like the one shown here is much harder to get with that device. Dto. for the Headrush. Despite the „hardships“, I guess us multiinstrumentalists have to be thankful for the next updates that his majesty Boss lets us have. 😁
This is waay too complicated. I have the same problem with my FS6 pedal. It’s doesn’t work straight away. I spent days trying to set it up, and it’s still not right. Thanks for the video… I wish there were more like this
Hi! Thanks for the video! That’s very cool! But I don’t get the description.. you said : “ or any other pedal” but what u mean? I also don’t get how you connect all… maybe cause my English very bad 🥲 can someone answer me? Thanku
Hey, thanks for the super precise tutorial. It is the only such accurate and specific description. However, I have a problem with saving the settings. Probably because I don't have a track set in the Menu like you do. Please suggest how to set it up.
Thanks I lost the settings, thank to give me the reason why. That's really stupid from Boss, that it can not by set as global. I would expect something like that!
To anyone who is considering using this pedal for the first RC-505 (not the mkii version) let me tell you that it works. (instead of buying boss pedals or any other expensive midi pedals) First thing, i don't know how you assign anything to the "Up" button, since i can only have options for CTL 1 and CTL 2, in the looper. Maybe in this newer version (mkii) is possible - i see in his screen more CTL options - but not in 505 standard version. Now, the thing his that 505 doesnt have a "Track" button, like Mkii. So we need to assign to one of the buttons (CTL1 or 2) the: Assgn1 Target - TARGET TRACK INC/DEC. Increase to change track selection from left to right, or Decrease to change from right to left. As soon as you set this, by pressing the button, it will show you the "Edit track" button blinking 3x meaning that is "selected". Then you only need to assign the remaining control (depending of what you already used for track selection) and set Assgn2 Target - TGT TR REC/PLAY. This means that whatever the track that is assigned, you can now rec, overdub and play. It would be perfect to have the "Up" button to stop all, or stop selected track, but like i said before there is no CTL3... Hope this helps you to make wonderfull creations and keep this looper for hand and feet usage xD Happy christmas and a great new year to all!
I did everything you mentioned in the video to assign, but for some reason I’m only able to record on track one. I try to arm track 2 and nothing happens. 😭
Thanks for the video. Maybe you know this already but if you click down the knob (the four main knobs) you can search through all of the settings quicker

DUDE THANK U SOO MUCH MAN!!!!! I was literally cracking my brain to figure this part out!! your video has helped alot, however im actually using a NuX AB switcher seems to work nicely too . but im using a Y cord 1/4 trs to 2x 1/4 inst. for some strange reason the stereo cable didnt work for me after purchasing a brand new cable.
am i missing something or can you just change the modes for whether the CTL functions are performed system-wide or per memory under menu > CTL func > prefs? Thanks for the video!
I hoped that you gound a way to use all three buttons (this footswitch works with digitech trio with 3 buttons through the same trs cable) Instead of all start / all stop I have "switch the current track" command (inc) and it's very useful Do you know a way to make one of the buttons blink for the current track? There is the LED on / off assign but you lose other functions for that button by selecting it
I'm not finding this command and have looked a few times. Where are you finding "Instead of all start / all stop I have "switch the current track" command (inc) and it's very useful" please and big thanks in advance!
THX for this video!!! I have only one more problem: when I hit the first (mode) button on the pedal, the recording on the track arms a little bit to late. When I press my foot on the switch, it does not start the recording, it starts when I release my foot from the switch. Do you have an idea how I can change this? Thank you!!
Unfortunately, mine does the same. Didn't realize this behavior until after I made the video. Haven't had time to try to solve but will try to look into when I have a chance.
the most useful tutorial. thank you so much. i`ve got the fs-6 and i dont know why the A button controls the 2 and the B the 1. but thats not a problem anymore :)
Helpful 👍thanks very much - I like your tutorial style and clear way of demonstrating what it is you are working towards . {Do you have other videos ? I am looking for other videos on the MK 505 -ll , really even on a more basic level which even “just” vocalist users are doing very creative beat generation and overlays ? ) Being able to access the MK with the Digitech is just odd ball to me - the Trio was what I had before the MK - what similarities/ differences. ? Agreed the machine does amazing things but the “owners manual “ leaves something to be desired esp if you are unfamiliar with the original 505 or haven’t used the guitar / foot switch oriented loop station ….like me. ! thanks for your video 👍👍

Yes I was tearing my hair out with configuring a FS-6 until coming across this video - a life saver!

Thx!!! Saved me a lot of money! Works with an standard basic basic piano paddle that was doing nothing for me! Now it will be working hard!
THANK YOU!!!!!
Man, thank you for taking your time to explain this!
Works perfectly and saved me from tearing my hair apart. Thanks a lot !

Everything you showed worked perfectly with Boss FS7

This is a crime on the part of BOSS….this should be defaulted globally…. They need to fix this in a firmware update…. Insane ux oversight…
Thank you SO MUCH!!! Subscribed!
awesome i;m getting one for my 5050mk2. If you do ever figure out how to program the third button please let us know. I will if i can figure it out
Thank you very much.
