    I left my bikes at home and it was one of the biggest mistakes I made my first year because my college has literally no parking except for motorcycle parking.

    I actually started on a motorcycle. I had a bike nearly two years before I got a car. It was a 2001 XT225, and I rode it year round. No better way to let people know you're a badass than showing up on a motorcycle with 4" of snow on the ground. Went from that to a 1984 Sabre V65, that I'm taking to college. I have a car, but I hardly ever drive it, it seems like. Last year (Gap year) I was taking it any time the roads were clear, as cold as 8F. I solved the rain issue by carrying extra socks, and just dealing with it. I have the S7, which is waterproof. Wear Timberland boots on the daily, so it isn't an inconvenience to find good riding shoes. Biggest con for me is my white ass legs, because I never get to wear shorts.

    At my college its 100% free to park, and you can park In striped areas as long as it doesnt create a hazard, and you can park multiple bikes in 1 spot.

    if you live in a big city, having a motorcycle would be advantageous. big, busy, sprawling cities would be great for small displacement street or enduro bikes tuned for street, as lane filtering(if legal) seriously cuts down on commuting time, and the majority of lower displacement bikes under 300cc can regularly get 70mpg or higher, while having enough power to get on the highway and go long distances if you have to.

      @amihere383 7 років тому

      right. i think a dual sport, like the honda crf50l, would be best for someone in high school or college though. you have more space on the back, so you would have more space for your school items, plus there's the added benefit of dual sports being generally more durable and reliable than sport bikes because of the tougher plastics. you can drop it or low side it and it'll most of the time have barely a scratch.

    Liked the video, Motonoob. I'm considering getting a bike for my last year of college in a few months. Any suggestions when it comes to Insurance? I'm looking at larger starter bikes like the ninja 650 etc because of the distance I travel to class & other factors. Also, do you work while in school??

      +MotoNooB No problemo man. How good is your 500 on gas? Also, I don't know about you, but I Make median wage. Are you paying your bike off and stuff? That's one thing I'm not so sure about doing.

    As far as #3 that really depends on the size of the bike. Some of the hogs as I call them barely get over 30 mpg , lots of cars these days get over 30 mpg. That is one reason I wand a midsize bike 500-700 cc, so that I can still benefit from the mileage.

    I’m in the uk and going to uni next year and living In uni accommodation, I’ve literally just gotten a bike and I’m about to book to get my CBT but my uni doesn’t do student parking at ALL. None on the campus and none at the accommodation so idk what to do 😕😕 I want to take it with me because mental health wise being far away from home and having to spend £25 every time I want to go home would not be good, hopefully if I explain that they’ll let me park it 😔

      My vote in terms of deciding on a 250 vs a mid sized bike is mostly based on whether you live in a big urban city or a more rural environment. I started riding in a DENSELY populated downtown area (downtown in the city of Toronto), and so a 250 made A LOT of sense. In my opinion, dense traffic is a lot less forgiving of mistakes and there's no point of a bigger bike as you can't get up past 10 miles an hour. But otherwise a 500 is definitely an awesome way to start too. The 250 is a real bike, you'll easily be able to keep up with any traffic you need to (mine takes me easily up to 105 mph), and there are ways to cure boredom (I did track stuff after my first year riding), but yes I did also upgrade my bike the moment I moved out of the city, so I think that's my biggest determining factor is type of city you live in

    Hi, I’m going to FSU in the Fall and I want to get a motorcycle. I would only use it to get to class quicker and the occasional trip to the store. I’ve ridden mopeds, small motorcycles, and dirt bikes before so I have some experience. My Dad is willing to get me a small 250 cc motorcycle, but my family is concerned for my safety. Do you have any helpful tips to help me convince them to support my decision in getting one?

    Owning & driving any car is one of the most STUPIDEST things you can do! For one, cars needs a lot of fuel to operate plus it needs a big parking space and it’s not cheap by any means. Two, cars get stuck in gridlocked traffic when you’re already dead late going to places from work meeting or going to the airport for a flight. Unless you love picking up friends and take them somewhere!? Then by all means…get a car. Cars are money pits and lose their value even brand new the minute you drove it off the lot…..
