Thank you for the video! I always love watching your reviews and finally seeing one of my tools on one was a very special moment I can’t even lie. It’s been 3 years of tweaking to get this plugin right so I feel blessed that it’s being so well received. Lastly, worth noting, the release version has some small added features your beta was missing to provide additional visual feedback and we will continue to develop it and add more in future updates! 🙏
If they add a feature where the limiter can be changed to become a clipper with both soft and hard clip options like the gate advanced option, this plugin would be absolutely perfect as a swiss army knife of channel strips. So impressed with how well thought out the entire interface is laid out!
That's actually a pretty cool channel strip. There aren't a lot of channel strips around that aren't emulations, so a new one that is very modern-oriented is really nice to see. Don't know how well it scales on the CPU, but if it's light on resources I think we have a winner for those tracks that only need a strip and nothing else. Might give it a try once it's out.
Very low CPU. I have a video coming comparing it to Neutron specifically for CPU usage, and the results even shocked me. We designer HitStrip to be used on every channel in your session. It’s also ultra low latency. 1-4ms depending on how many modules you have engaged.
I automatically give +10 points to any plugin with a truly resizable interface (unlike Waves, Kontakt, etc., which use fixed-size bitmaps). I'm _soooooo_ sick of working with my face 6 inches from the screen.

That was our mission. We wanted FabFilter to do it. They didn’t. So we decided we should do it ourselves, and keep it familiar enough to an easy transition from Pro Q 3. One cool feature Wytse missed, is this includes Spectrum grab on the EQ as well 😊
@@djswivel I can sort of see why they wouldn't though. Who would buy their Gate, Multiband Compressor, Limiter or indeed Q3 if everything was in one awesome plug-in like this? That Spectrum Grab by the way is yet ANOTHER really nice touch.

the comp is colouring? i like cleaner channel strip actually, because i know how to make my own colour that i need.. but wow, this is a great plugin! i like it...
There is both an input trim and output trim! As well as gain staging at the Dynamics level with a makeup gain knob. Those controls are located just above the input and output meters. It’s not a knob, just a text window with the value you can slide up and down.
It does need Gain out with autogain - at least for the limiter and scale-able interface and it's gonna be golden hitstrip! There are still some glitches working with eq but overall it can be a real -every-track-workhorse. Please do mix a song with it :) Thanks a lot for your content.
My favorite channel strip is the Waves Schepps Omni Channel by far. And it's only $40 or $50, definitely the greatest value in a plugin I've ever seen. I use it on nearly every channel.
This really got me surprise. A lot of plugin releases from artists are often just repackaged open source algorithms - but there are some REALLY advanced features here. Now, I have enough tools in my kit already, but if I needed a general tool, I would go for it.
Maybe, but those rotary knobs are hard to turn if you do not point the mouse at the very center. I’m always fighting with any rotary knobs in software. Could be me.
The only thing I miss in almost all channelstrips, is a second EQ section. I tend to EQ things before distorsion or dynamics then EQ again after. Of course I can always insert a separate EQ before the channelstrip, but that kinda misses the point of having all you need in a single interface. It also limits the routing possibilies. For instance I would like an EQ between the gate and dynamics, then another between the exciter and the final limiter, that won't be possible with another EQ plugin inserted before or after (even if some may argue that I could EQ before the gate). Having only one EQ feels so "old analog" to me, especially in this kind of "digital can do everything" plugin that should be free of hardware limitations. Otherwise, a lot of good ideas in this "HitStrips".
Ugh I hear you! Truth be told, the initial design spec I mapped out was exactly that. Multiple EQ’s. The challenge was, presenting it in an easy to use layout that wouldn’t create confusion. One way to do it is how Neutron or Ozone does, with different effects to ages. But that to me is not a channel strip. A channel strip should be 1 page, no complex menus, just grab and go. It needs to encourage muscle memory. I do have a potential idea on how to do it but would take some time to solve. Maybe v2!
channel strips in general are a interesting topic. What i am missing is that i could switch the channel / track in the strip to a different track where it is also inserted. So just one window to mix and your ears and a few meters maybe but no tracks to look at all the time!
Try the free trial out, VERY low cpu! You can put it on every channel in your session with no issues at all. Also very low latency. Maximum 4ms with all modules and all EQ types engaged
Honestly, with that compressor being so crusty, I don't know if you could mix using just that without it sounding like your output was broken. It'd be nice to have a clean switch for it.
This looks really good for folks who don't yet have any fancy basic tools - like, most of my plugin library is free stuff, and I've been considering buying ProQ or Kirchhoff EQ for a while now, but if this does all they do _and more_.. also the GUI is insanely good - everybody can rip off their competition, but I think e.g. the exciter visualization is pretty amazing, and I haven't seen that elsewhere. Now, if only I had a hundred bucks to spare..
We designed this to replace pro Q 3. Offer an equal number of features inside the EQ, but add the rest of features Pro at doesn’t have. Give it a spin, we have a free demo you can try and the intro sale is on through the holidays :)

At least 1 on every channel in your session (on top of everything else in your session). With a fast machine probably 2-3 per channel haha. This is not Neutron or Ozone. Very very low CPU consumption.
Wish it was resizable :( edit: after trying it, the limiter seems to not actually limit, lots of testing and still getting peaks above the threshold regardless of settings. Wish it had a clipper and more saturation options as I was comparing this to neutron today. Seems like a solid product in it's early days, I was looking at their other products and most of them don't really seem to have been updated much buuuuuuuut yeah cool
For £99 this would be a no brainer buy when you're starting out before you can afford some bundles from fabfilter and split EQ... no idea how it compares, might be good to see if you could do a 8 channel mix, one with this and one with all the others combined to test it's value
