Mila is on point about the importance of logistics. My Ukrainian friends say that they have warehouses of supplies in the west, but cannot get it delivered to the east because there is no reliable transportation to bring it where is most needed. On Facebook, there is always someone looking for transportation, whether it is supplies for the front lines or to evacuate someone to a hospital, because the roads are damaged and it's very dangerous. I help by helping the families that have landed here in Canada. My contribution may be small, but if we all chip in a little, we can make a big difference.

Yes, here in Poland there were buses rented by people which were taking things to the Ukraine and taking people back, they were going there and back day by day sometimes risking their lives. That was really nice to witness this, our block of flats collected enough money for several full transports, people did not knew each other and worked together to get low prices on products etc to make best out of it.

This was actually very realistic and not much BS around what's usually going around when people talk about helping other countries in need. Maybe because Mila Kunis is from Ukraine descent, but her take on using people's will to show that they care on social media platforms and such and actually pushing them to move for a realistic cause was very interesting and felt super down to earth. Also acknowledging that people have daily issues to go through and even herself can't keep track with what's going wrong with the world. Especially when you saw the fiasco during 2020 when these celebs sang Imagine LOL (Mila and Ashton themselves appeared in an episode of The Boys as cameos for a parody of that version lolololol)

I must say that ever since the war in Ukraine happened I started caring about wars in other places too. I'm from Lithuania, so I care about the war in Ukraine because of historical and personal reasons, just like anybody from all the countries that were brutalized by russians. I also have traveled a lot and lived for a long time in both, the USA and Canada. And this whole thing got me thinking: as I care about Ukraine 🇺🇦 so much, at the same time Ukraine war is a far away thing for Africans or Middle Easterns and many other people, the same way any African or Middle Eastern conflict seemed so far away for me living in Europe or North America.

5:07 where I am from, the local Polish-American community (many of whom are late Soviet era/early post Soviet immigrant families, and have a lot of family and friend contacts in Poland)
    organized a huge fundraiser.
It was spear headed by a family who own a local business. People came to the business on certain days with boxes packed with diapers, baby wipes, soap and toiletries, warm socks, etc
And then they purchased things at the fundraiser to pay for these items to be shipped to contacts in Poland for Ukrainian refugees. You had to wait in a long line (on one day, even in the rain) just to get into the building.
People deliberately overpaid at the fundraiser, and the family had so much extra cash that they put it into a fund, to wait for regional nonprofits that would aid Ukrainian refugees to form and be firmly up and running.

Democracy isn't special, it's also a kind of tyrrany. Until we can hear the voices of persecuted minorities as loudly as others, we will have these problems. in that sense democracy gets in the way as when people seek to build political majorities in democracies - all of them - the often actually seek to ignor certain groups interests.
Clinton telling democrats to remain transphobically silent on attempted legal genocides of trans lives is a great example.
We are told to shut up and take the worst that humanity has to offer the minority and marginalised for the benefit of a majority that cares nothing about doing the same for us.
Metaphor: Democracy is the stabilising drug that bad psychiatrist gave you that you never got off of. Democracy should be a step, not the end goal.

She doesn't tell that Ukraine has Nazi division in its military.
She doesn't tell you that the Ukraine government was killing it's own people in the Donbas region.
And she definitely won't tell you that Russia tried to negotiate a peace, (yes that Russia) called the Minks Agreement.
And she won't tell that the United States is Oligarchy. That military weapons and contracts is second only to Wall Street money. If the only think your country still makes is weapons, then you will find a way to make war. It's about profit, and oil (always about oil), and the U.S. controlling OTHER countries resources.

Was listening to a story about the Ukrainian refugees that are coming through Mexico that showed how amazing fast tracked they were allowed into the US, with a special guarded building. The reporter then interviewed and took a South American refugee to the center to show her the difference and she started crying. They had no guards, no toys, food, bedding and at this location there was so much not being used as they were pushed through under 24 hours and she had been there with other people for many years. She said, we are running for our lives too and live in fear here and they get guards for the little time they are going through. I am all for the Ukrainian cause but as the reporter suggested, a political war seems to get more attention than a cartel coming after you. Maybe race has something to do with it too. The condition that the South American woman lived in with the other immigrants was frightening and yet she took time to teach the kids in there without barely any books. If I recall right, she cries when she saw the unused piles of toys for the Ukrainian refugees. But yeah, that story doesn’t get much coverage either.

She's right on the money in all areas. Can't help but think about not only Iran not getting enough attention, but also the scary and reoccurring conflict against Armenia by the hands of Azerbaijan. I wish there was some space to talk about Armenia, since it doesn't seem to be too relevant to so many people, even though the stakes of the situation can have a horrible outcome for Armenia and all of it's people. In all cases, this podcast is the best and I am so happy that Conan had this conversation.

And why is Ukraine still banning the exhumations of the victims of the genocide commited by those beasts. Especially considering the fact that most of them were Poles and knowing how much Poland has help Ukrainie and keep helping.

Maybe the reason we don't hear about other wars in American media is because idk... we started a lot of these wars. The USA has been a MUCH bigger threat to diplomacy and peace than Russia has. It's just a fact. And no, Putin didn't pay me to say that.

You actually believe that you would still be alive if Russia had the American military and economy? We had the nuclear weapons 7 years before anyone else. We could have obliterated Russia. US , as the world's biggest superpower exercises a lot of influence and made a tons of terrible mistakes. Yet, still much better than Russia or China being in power. A lot of Russians and Chinese want the US obliterated, but not so with us. This is not a complicated issue. Russia is where communism started. You really want them in power or even try to defend them?
