Sunday 12:30pm I arrived at the barn, got sriracha from the field, noticed he was standing off by himself (odd for him) brought him inside to do his hoof care and apply mtg for the upcoming snow we were getting. 1:30pm noticed he would not take his favorite treats. Continued to try other things because it is very unlike him to not take his favorite treats. 230-3ish informed Dawn I thought something was going on with him, he would not eat his evening grain or drink water. Walked him around the arena for over an hour in case of colic. Brought him back inside and we took his temperature, 104. Immediately called the vet, had blood work done and antibiotics and banamine administered. I will let the follow up wait until the next video for Joel to go over but wanted to go into a bit more detail about the discovery and process the day it happened. 🙂
Such a scary time when an animal won’t eat his favourite treat thank you for adding the detail it’s good for anyone else to learn these things that can be done when unsure what might be happening. Experience is so important during times like this. I pray he will be okay and won’t have any lasting disease like Lyme. Hopefully it was a tooth abscess or just a virus. Praying but was so reassured to see all the grain and hay gone from his stall. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
Good to see Joel and Gavin back together.
I can’t imagine someone not liking this Stable Life. I find it very informative and enjoy the attitude of all the folks involved.
A big HI ! To all of you! 👵🏻🦁
I guess William told you. Wow at all the wonderful gifts you are receiving. It isn’t cheap buying supplies for all those horses but it’s heartwarming to see folks helping. You have an amazing group of folks watching. I read most comments that get posted and I’m glad there are still kind people in this world.
Always nice to see Gavin. He's my favorite. 😊👍
Nothing gets Joel down:
"it completely ran out of fuel and stopped working"
Joel: "NICE"! LoL
Scoots is certainly enjoying the snow !
Nice to see Gavin working with you today. He is such a friendly, talented and helpful young man who just loosens up a lot with his natural sense of humor. Joel you two are really good team☘️💫🍀
I can not tell you enough.just how much l enjoy your channel. I love seeing you and Gavin work together. Gavin cracks me up By the way, saving 10 seconds every manure day x 52 manure days a year means that you guys are saving over 8 minutes a year!! More Joel & Gavin! 👍🏼
Excellent job on the video today. You both did a great job as always making it entertaining & informative.
Great to see Gavin (the young man, not the horse) coming out of his shell. I very much enjoy watching this channel.
I love when both of you are in the video. And glad to see your wife Joel!
It's so good to see Gavin with you!!
Who is Gavin? Is he related to Joel?
@@lilly-fq1vb Gavin is a Friend of the Family that likes to help out on the Farm. A young man by the Name of “Petey” is also a Friend of the Family and he is on the Veggie Boys Channel.
@@lilly-fq1vb They are related by marriage. They said a couple of times (might have been on Veggie Boys channel). Think Gavin's mom married Joel's uncle on his dad's side. It could be dad and aunt instead of mom and uncle. Either way they are kinda like cousins.
PG
Another great episode, hope we hear good news from the vet!!
Joel, you and Gavin are the best. I love the Amazon list, what a great way to support the channel. These are useful products for your horses. And, that makes me smile.
Another great video . Joel , your skill in using your tractor for those large bales in the tight space is awesome !!! Gavin is always appreciated in the videos . Thank you .
Wooowhoooo! Gavin & Joel back together on the videos! Love seeing you both, you always bring a smile to my face! I love riding western it’s how I grew up riding as a kid and I’ve not gone in a few years but I hope one day I’ll do it again in the future. There is nothing as special from seeing the outdoors from atop a horse and walking through the forest. I absolutely didn’t realize when I was a kid just how lucky I was to have all those experiences. I loved every minute of it. I love seeing what wonderful care and attention you give to the horses. I hope the vet gets back to you with great news and it’s nothing but a simple virus. God bless and thank you for sharing your videos! 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
I am glad your horse is doing better. Great video.
I’ll be very interested to hear the news about Lyme - yuck. I hope tests are negative for the really bad diseases.
Test came back negative for Lyme.
I am flabbergasted that you 2 guys can’t push one large bale off the pile!
I have ridden English and western, but I prefer riding western.
I love watching all the horses and the donkeys!
I wish all the best for the horses and donkey's to stay healthy and not catch any influenza.
YAY a Gavin Day!! (I saw you jump on that round bale!) If I had a horse, I'd ride Western. I went Horseback ridding when I was a young girl. I have always wanted horses. But it wasn't meant to be. Great Tractor skills there Joel! Love yous guys!
Glad to hear he's getting better. No fever and appetite back is great.
Glad Gavin is back and Glad Sriracha fever is down! ❤️🐴
What a great video!!! Hello to everyone!! I'm so glad people are sending y'all stuff. We know y'all need it
It's nice that the Joel & Gavin team are together. I always enjoyed my work more when I was working as part of a team, even if it was only 1 other person. The work went faster, we got more done and we actually didn't make as many mistakes or forget things because someone always remembered. It's fun to laugh & smile while you work too! It gives you a happy heart. God bless. (Western or bareback - there's no other way. ;)
Very informative video. Great to see The Dynamic Duo together again. Thank you for all you do. See you in the next one.
The veggie guy should be so gracious. You guys are very thankful!
They're one family, love them all.
Cows thought that you had food for them😮😅
🙏🙏🙏🙏 for Sriracha.
It's been a long time since I've ridden at all. But when I did, it was mostly western riding. Mostly trail rides. I think I've only sat on an English saddle a few times when I was a kid. However, I do love watching horse events and when I watch, I watch both English and western riding. I love watching the riders do both show jumping and dressage just as much as I love watching barrel racing. But my favorite events to watch are reining and cutting. I just love watching a horse being put through their paces. They are truly brilliant animals.
Hello Joel & Gavin ! Here in Indiana we our getting thunderstorms with lightning and rain and strong wind. We never got any snow except up both of us their getting two inches of snow. Oh know poor sriracha.hope he gets better .it’s donkey time.I think Williams it telling you something Joel it’s so sweet. It’s good to see you all back from your vacation hope you all enjoyed your time and had fun.
Tip on the big squares...if you don't want them to explode all over when you open them...cut 2 strings leave the rest on. Take the 2 and tie them end to end. Slip them under the remaining strings and place at the point you want hay. Take the strings around the back of the bale and tie. Cut the remaining strings. This keeps part of the bale contained. I fed 1800 lb squares one winter and this kept me from having a huge mess.
The Dream Team back at it . Good to see the Ladies. Great video as always.
I don’t ride but enjoy watching the show
My neighbors two horses could sure use some care from you all.
Great to see both you guys today, knowing your horses so well is great that you spot them no behaving normally….. getting treatment for any illness is key and as quickly as possible.
Hope the news is not bad .
The last time I was on horseback it looked more like clown 🤡. Not a smooth rider and I’m pretty sure the horse was glad it didn’t last long.
Take care lads xx
Great video! Loved seeing Megan and Tracy!!
Hoping Siracha gets a clean bill of health.
Hugs for Siracha ❤️ Wow what a video snow then mud , sound of bales opening (. Thank you ) Leia enjoying the snow 😍😍😍 Annnnnd last but not least The DREAM TEAM back 👍👍👍👍👍👍 loved it!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏 Love from the UK x
the heated vests are so great, we used them for motorcycle riding, game changer for cold rides. Love seeing you and Gavin working together, hope Siracha will be ok. Much love from AZ
You all do an awesomw job taking care of all the animals eapecially the sick one
Bye bye have a great nite see you around
💜💜💜 Gavin in the videos
You need smell-a-vision! The 2 if you make me smile while taking care of those HANDSOME BOYS! HI GIRLS! NICE JOB GUYS. THE COWS LOOK GREAT TOO! Hugs and prayers for all the animals! I haven't been on a horse since 1973 when we were on a trail ride and my horse got spooked and threw me and the horse behind me stepped on my left ankle. Thank goodness the horses didn't have shoes on or my ankle would have broken! And I don't know the difference between the two.
Nice to see y'all together again. Definitely western.
I rode western on my Appaloosa back in the 80’s. Best horse ever! So gentle and kind. He went to a good family with a young rider when my family had to sell our farm and lived out his life happy. When I would visit - he remembered me and would do his let’s go for a ride head bump to me.
I love it when Gavin and Joel are working together!! I hope Siracha feels better soon.
In answer to the question, I have only ridden western. My three horses have only had western saddles. As a fairly novice rider, I like having the saddlehorn to help when going to trot. I haven't ridden enough to develop a good seat yet.
Great video Loved seeing Gavin back. Western Also loved seeing Megan
Western when I rode. I still love it all, I can ride a walk but that’s it. But, I used to chase the wind.
Awwww. Poor baby. Get better quick. I don't ride in answer to your question, just watch.
Yay - a video with Gavin & Joel! I'm happy to send small tokens of appreciation for all of the hours of fun and informative videos you've posted. ( On your wish list the Dover Saddlery isn't shipped by Amazon and it can't be ordered without your address. FYI for the next list update.)
Great Intro, Gentlemen. 😬👍🙏
I always enjoy the "find gavin" feature!
You guys have way to much fun at work.
Thank you for sharing. I also appreciate you saying their names. Have a beautiful day 💙😇
I ride western. Definitely my favorite. ❤
Hey, Joel 👋 In the UK dairy cows are in the sheds throughout the late fall, winter and early spring time...they can develope hoof issues like rot and pressure points along the white ring. Vets glue on rubber and compound blocks to the hoofs to relieve pain in the cow. It is supposed to be like one of the inserts humans wear in shoes to help with plantar fasciitis. Do horses have such things available to them when they develope the same issues? Or is it expected the problem fixes itself on its own. Great and funny video today. Gavin is such a hoot and you are a natural teacher infront of the camera with an excellent personality!
Take care and all the best from the UK 🇬🇧.
I grew up riding English saddle, to be expected as I was born there lol but I always rode western at my dad's farm in florida. I think both are great for different reasons. I think there is alot of flexibility with western saddles but with all the straps they take longer to put on. For comfort I'm going to say western. When I was alot younger and I did 3 day eventing I was always in English saddle. I think there is alot of grace and elegance to the English riding. I'm not sure you really needed all this but alot of people don't really know the differences especially if they haven't been around horses. But I was on horses before I could walk so I think I have a good perspective.
Thanks for sharing that I always rode western and wondered what the difference was. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
Glad to see that Megan likes haluski. For anyone that doesn't know, it's cabbage, wide egg noodles (sometimes dumplings), butter, and onions. I also like to add ham or bacon chunks. It's spelled haluski and pronounced halooshkee just like Megan said.
Thanks for sharing that! I had to turn on closed captioning to make sure I heard that correctly. Then I wondered what in the world it was?! Lol! Thank you for sharing that information. I wonder what the origin of the dish is? Guess I’ll be checking out Google. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
@@leannekenyoung I should have added that it's Eastern European. Polish. Ukraine, Russia. All of those. It's delicious peasant food. Just like pyrohi. Polish word is pierogi.
@@bige.3474 I LOVE PEROGIES!! I learned how to make them from an old German lady who learned from a Ukrainian lady when she moved to Canada. It’s labour intensive to make them but I love making them at Christmas time for my family and they homemade just can’t compare to the factory made ones! I made potato and cheese and we sauté them with bacon and onions and serve with a dallop of sour cream. I also have made the ones with ground beef and onion. One of my all time favourite are mushroom perogies! They have such an incredible mushroom flavour and are inside those little pasta pockets soooo yummy! 🥰❤️🇨🇦🙏🏻
@@leannekenyoung I can't even choke down store bought. We set up a family assembly line. When making cheese potato, our secret ingredient is Velveeta cheese.
@@bige.3474 that’s exactly what the German lady who taught me used! Lol!
hoping the horse feels better soon
I grew up riding western, rodeos n such. Haven’t been on a horse in way to long.
A bleach water solution works as well as coppertox in most situations. That is what our vet recommended.
I don't ride..but your channel has me interested in giving it a try
I hope sriracha is doing better.
Gavin is low key hilarious!
Can you mention how Gavin fits into the family dynamics?
I may have missed it but with Andrew and Joel doing such a good job helping us to know the Family
Thanks for such a good job
My Husband and I don't ride horses but Y'all have made us so interested and we are amazed how smart they are.
We found you through the Veggie Boys/and Girls we do garden but we are so glad that Andrew introduced us to your channel.
I'm pretty sure Gavin is his cousin from his dad's side of the family. His mums side of the family are the veggie boys. I hope this helps.
Thank You Sam
@@bobbiekoski4234 Your very welcome. Glad you found a stable life. They are a great family and I love watching the family dynamic on both sides.
I Love the closeness of the cousins on both sides of the Family
This video was awesome!! It made me laugh and was very informative love how you and Gavin were playing of each other energy
I always enjoyed riding both. My horse was not very good on the eyes, a cribber and didnt like most people or other horses. With that being said he was amazing at jumping and was extremely fast and good at gaming! He truly was the best friend I ever had in life. I was the only person, outside of my dad, he wouldnt put his ears back at. He reached the rank of supreme grand champion during our showing days and spent his final years at the farm he was born at. I miss that guy!
Thanks for sharing! That was a nice experience 😁
Gavin is looking slim !
Definitely English here. I hate sitting a trot lol 😆
listen no news is good news. the abt worked that's great.
Since he 🐴got sick does that mean sanitize his bucket where eats ,, drink
and his stall give us a feedback on please 🤔 good job you guys 👍
Love the heated vest.
Good show
I was taught western and that's the only way I knew. Prayers 🙏 for Sarincha, I probably spelled his name wrong and love and hugs for all the horse's and the donkey's. Layia and of course y'all humans LoL. Please 🙏 let us know what the Vet says!!
You guys should hire interns to gain experience caring for horses and expand all the good in the equine world!!!
I ride western, my sport is Reining! I have also done some Dressage which I love !
Extremely impressive tractor steering!!😂 I enjoy watching you on this channel as well as on Veggie Boys!!
I cross country jump & mountain trail ride & horse camp. I love both disciplines of riding. 🐎🐴👍😊
Love your videos! 😉👍🌟
Rachel and I were watching stable life videos from last March when Gavin was hiding in the background. It was funny how similar your comments about horses hair being majestic twelve months ago.
Gavin we appreciate your face haha
Gavin…. I like the way you think
Many, many, many years ago we had horses and mostly rode western. We were in 4-H and we participated in horse shows, county and state fairs. Several of the others who had horses boarded where we were, rode english and a couple even did dressage. Those were some of the best days in this Grammy’s life. Some of the other girls are still my friends to this day. We absolutely love your enthusiasm and seeing your horses. I’d be very interested in hearing about the horses, are they all yours or are they boarded, what types of breeds are there? Do you ever ride? I also love how the horses know which stall is theirs. It’s a lot of fun watching and it takes me back to my youth every time I watch a video. Thanks for sharing with us! 🐴
Donkey Dance!!!!!!!!
god job boys and nice family🐎🐴🚜
What?! Gavin, no Donkey Time dance?! 😢
You Guys are my favorite UA-cam channel and I appreciate you so much. Why don’t we do a 24 seven donkey cam think about that you could charge so much and I bet you everybody would pay it five bucks a month or something like that anyway, have a great day and God bless.
Love riding western, it’s a free’r ride ❤
I ride western but I’ve done English!! Great video
So sorry Siracha is on the DL. Good that both of you are on the job. Two heads are better than one. 😁
A suggested question that could be used as a question of the day if you can’t think of something else. One day. Out of The Stable Life and the Veggie Boys…….. Who is the go to tech geek among y’all ?? I know who I’d pick. My wife says it’s Callie. I’ve been watching y’all since your channel started and haven’t head it asked before.
Back when I was young and bounced better, I rode Western. These days the old bones just wouldn't take falls. I love horses, with or without riding.
Saw Gavin jump bale.
western. I only tried English once and I felt like I was going to fall off. Probably psychological, it's not like the saddle horn keeps me on. Anyway, that's my story! Love all your horses and also watching you two take care of them.
Love watching your videos.
Perhaps you should have given the weedy hay to the cows, they are now quite so fussy.
The design of the hay feed is excellent. The side comes of so easily.
What about the copper from the copper tox ending up in the manure? Is that an issue?
I do hope that Sriracha does not have Lyme disease, but he seems to have perked up quite fast, so hopefully that is a good sign. I worked at a company where one of the employees got it and it took ages to shift it.
Neither I ride on four wheels lol just love love horses
I ride both depending on where I'm riding. English on a trail ride just feels wrong somehow, lol
Cheers
Poor horsey. Hope you get well!
