i'm glad to see that peak design decided to use the xpac for the travel backpack but it's too bad they don't offer the pac in all their colours. How would you compact this coyote edition vs the tortuga 40L?

I had the og 45l from their kickstarter and the straps were the biggest issue (which is kinda key to a travel backpack). It was too heavy and the straps couldn’t support it. Shame as it was a great looking bag.
I don't have any plans to modify this one. I do like the hide-away strap design I just wish they were a little more padded. As they are, they're good for short distances.
Nice overview, thanks. It seems to have been a swing and a miss for Huckberry for the reasons you’ve outlined. The bag looks a bit like a stuffed sausage to me and those straps will never work. They resemble the ultra thin Nomin straps which do work very well. Good try though.
The straps are the downfall for sure but they're no different than the standard Peak Design bag so it's more on them. But if you really like them to be stowed there really isn't any other way. Still a good design for a bag
You mentioned it fit more like the Able Carry Max at 30L. I have said before the Able Carry Max is a great bag but is smaller than my Evergoods CPL28 now on v3. But I definitely like X-PAC anytime I can get it. I think Peak Designs makes some great travel products, but I dislike their bags. The everyday camera backpack allows too many items to fall out too easily with dual side access. The zip-out expandability never really works very well. It leaves two ends of a zipper undone which seems to rub against everything and often catch. Not worth it. I would rather carry a 33L version of the bag on vacation and take 27L of stuff and leave room for 33L than deal with the expansion zipper. And I totally agree with you the shoulder straps/harness sucks! Able Carry Max actually does it better than most. Better than Evergoods, too. I like GoRuck and they’re rugged as hell and do seem like they would be great in the apocalypse or if Putin goes crazy. I still am saying my GR2 40L has become my EOTW Bug Out Bag. Love the video as always.
Recommend the Peak Design waist strap to help with the shoulders. I like it because of the ability to fold them away when not needed.

Can you just add a form to each of the shoulder to act as extra cushioning? And black color too so it blend in more? Any recommendation for that?

They're included with the bag. They're just simple clips that attach perfectly to the attachment points on the bag.
