I’ve been going smaller and smaller one bag traveling over the years. Started with a 45 litre M.E.I. Voyageur, then went down to a 35 litre Minaal 2.0, and now travel with just a 21 litre Minaal Daily 3.0 plus a 6 litre Osprey cross body sling, plus a tiny waist fanny bag. And I travel for months in the tropics with only those things. I could go indefinitely with just that. (As long as I am traveling just in the tropics and don’t need any cold weather gear.)
Thank you for your feedback! We actually have quality backpack collections from well known brands, ranging from A$100-200 here: rushfaster.com.au/collections/backpacks/price_-100-to-200?
I would recommend the Taskin One backpack. It's a bit of a game changer. It can easily convert into a duffel bag and there is a dedicated separate front pocket to put loose items. You can even expand it TWICE to stuff clothes in. It holds more than ALL of the backpacks mentioned in this video and doesn't cost a whopping $300. The Taskin is $193. I also like that it has a hidden pocket in the shoulder strap, a chest buckle, detachable padded belt AND pullout water bottle holder. It can open so the whole thing lies flat when trying to pack as fast as you can too. Even better: they still give you compression straps that cleverly stuff into hidden pockets when not in use! One other detail that helps: it has a detachable handle that can go near the bottom. This is handy when you stuff it in an airplane locker and you need to pull it out when it's jammed in with two other bags.
I have the Taskin One V1 bag that I got during the Kickstarter campaign. Its been... a bit of a disappointment so far. While its its neat it can be used in so many different formats, unfortunately its not a master of any of those formats which just makes the bag overly complex. The covers for the straps don't stay locked in and actually is designed for each corner to be tucked in which is a terrible design which gives them a deformed look. The plastic covers for one the magnetic straps have fallen apart off and is lost forever including the magnet inside. There's also way too many of these magnetic straps and you have to undue them each time to get to all major compartments except for the laptop section. It doesn't do camera equipment very well (its designed for clothes or use of their smaller packing cubes) and has less volume space than the PD Travel Backpack 45L (Taskin One tops out at 40L, which is spread over two main compartments). It also a kind of copy of the simpler Incase EO Travel Backpack but with some added features while looks good on paper, doesn't work very well in real world use.
Hi, I have the Taskin One Backpak too. The magnets do not hold the back straps properly in place plus the bag is HEAVY even without any stuff in it. Built quality and design is great though.
I got an Able Carry Max and it worked great for a two night stay and had enough room for me to bring back souvenirs; it wasn't big enough for my original intent but you need to use things for what their made for
while living in Germany i used a Rush 24 backpack for 4 day trips able to store 4-5 days of basic clothes, hygiene bag, tablet and all my essentials. it wasn't too heavy, would recommend leaving in the hotel/train station locker when sightseeing.
Nice roundup. Appreciate your efforts of putting this comparison together. I have the Bellroy Transit and I've been on the fence about the Able Carry Max. There's not enough of a difference in the packs to cause me to switch over. Although a side handle and more robust straps would be nice. Apologies for all the idiotic posts bitching why you didn't feature certain bags. Maybe they can create their own content on UA-cam. Keep up the great work.
My go to is Aer Travel Pack 2 x-pac. I found it very comfy and very satisfy with how much item I can fit inside. I like it being able to open all the way up to organized the items. Carrying it is very comfortable with the mesh padding on back and shoulder strap. 😁
I used a 33L Klättermusen Gnå for a monthlong trip to Japan. One big pocket that opens up almost like a clamshell and a laptop bag. It’s about 1.6 kilos and can be taken as a carry on in most airlines. It’s a bit more rugged and is meant for mountaineering and hiking, but it’s great.
After many iterations ended up with the Matador SEG42. It is so versatile to load and unload and so lightweight compared to all the other bags. And it’s still comfortable. Great overview!
After watching this video about all these bags and their hundreds of different features and functions, I have only one word - Douchebags! I have traveled with their carryall 40L (no longer in production though) on 5 different continents for over 6 years. Five weeks on a trip every five weeks. I can't even count how many different trips I've made, but a lot. Through desert, jungle, snow and urban environment, even in the warzone. I give 10/10 for that bag. I wouldn't change it for anything. Too bad it's no longer in production.
I have used the Knackpack from Knack Bags for edc and OneBagTravels. I have the series 2 medium for me and I bought the series 1 small for my GF and series 1 medium for my daughter. They now also have a series 2 large in addition to the series 1 large. I’d love to see Rushfaster do a review of Knackpacks.
I would like to repeat what chase said in his q&a vid about the pakt travel bag: basically the zippers are a different brand that he and the folks at pakt trust as much as ykk (as ykk often will cause them fullfillment issues). He also said they have a lifetime warranty (I'm not sure how robust it is, but he said it'll cover any zipper issues you may have)
I liked the presentation but it still leaves me feeling like I would need to buy all 5 bags to try them out with what I have to pack to see which would be best. I would recommend for future videos to actually pack the bags with what an average person might travel with to see how they load up.

Hey @Rushfaster, do you guys have any recommendations for alternatives to the tropicfeel Nest? A small-ish modular backpack good for daily commutes but also for short-term travel. Thanks!
Surprised that the Osprey Farpoint 40 isn't in this list. It's been the gold standard for years, with a rock solid warranty. Most of these bags are too small to be practical for one bag travel, and optimizing maximum carry on size - even if the available space isn;'t used fully - is what most travellers are looking for. Better to have the space and not need it, than need it and not have it.
Gold standard for who? People who want to travel around looking like broke backpackers who stay at the cheapest places possible? Not everyone needs or wants to travels like that.
The Farpoint 40 is the OG bag of one bag travel. Most people on here don't know about it, back then it basically had no competition. It's what got me started on this journey back in the day (got a Peak Design 30-45L now). It was indeed the gold standard. Even the modern iteration of the bag is really great but it's popularity has given it the image of a broke backpackers bag, truly sad.
@@HarshaJayasekeraI’ve had two Farpoint 40s, and the new bag in charcoal grey is quite stealth with sublimated branding. One thing to remember is that a brand like Osprey doesn’t need to pay UA-cam “Influencers” to promote their products, as their products speak for themselves.
@@msp5138 Not sure about the broke backpacker thing, but I’m an affluent middle aged professional who spends about 2 months a year traveling for pleasure, and I choose Osprey over any of these other products. 40+ countries and counting. You seem to be confused about the topic of the video, “One Bag Travel”. One bag travel refers to carry on only. Lots of people travel like this for long stays, and stay in apartments with laundry appliances. Hope that clears up your confusion.
@@CaptCanuck4444The branding on the new bag is definitely subtle but they are stubbornly sticking to that old design, and I'm talking esthetics here. It really needs a refresh and a major one at that to keep up with the competition.

The problem with smaller capacity packs like these are, that for a lot of people, the hip belts on these packs are a waist of time, money and weight as the pack is just too short for them to actually do their job properly... They never seem to sit and load the weight on your hips as is their purpose. They could do away with them
The Stubble & Co Adventure backpack is a solid choice! It's known for its durability, functionality, and sleek design. It's great for both urban environments and outdoor adventures. As for availability in Germany, it can indeed be tricky to find some brands locally. However, Stubble & Co does offer international shipping, and there are often European retailers or online marketplaces that stock their products. It might be worth checking their website or reaching out to them directly to find the best purchasing options:)
Hi there. Appreciate your comment! The Island Hopper travel backpack is excellent for outdoor adventures and island hopping. Its clamshell opening is ideal for efficient packing and serves well as a personal item on airplanes. It's lightweight, fits under plane seats, includes a tablet pocket, and has a convenient zippered compartment on top for carrying essentials like passport and wallet.

I have a Cotopaxi Alpaca 35L on a bright color way. I did not want brown, black or grey at the time. It is a life changer if the bag ends up being stowed at the gate, like my trip back to Denmark from the US in 2020. The tarpaulin gives me more security, that I can wipe off dirt and grime, but also handle some rain. It should have been featured in my book, even on your honorable mentions. Beautiful computer sleeve, however being in EU now it is a terrible with the taxes on everything going up. Also as someone with autism, the lighting that has patterns while you show the bags, are irritating to my light sensitivity. I hope you can invest in better lighting when you are able to.
Unfortunately, living with autism, you cannot force others to conform to your needs and wants to appease your personal preferences. Instead try work on your tolerance to certain stimulus that bother you because the world will never be perfect.
Having reviewed a lot more bags than this, are we to understand that if you’ve reviewed a bag and it’s not on this list, it’s not as highly recommended as those on this video? I’m between the Aer TP and the Bellroy Transit, so am I reading between the lines correctly here…?
Hello. Thanks for your feedback! We’ll look into it to make sure the background music hits the right note next time. Let us know if you have a favorite genre or style you'd like to hear. Cheers!
You should review more affordable backpacks, there's plenty of frugal travelers like me out there who refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for a good quality backpack. My personal favorite is the 17.5" UNDERSEAT PRO travel backpack, great design, good quality and at a fraction of the price of the backpacks you just mentioned is a better option...for crying out loud! You could buy at least 4 UNDERSEAT PRO backpacks for the price of one of the backpacks on your list!
My Tortuga Setout only lasted 4 international trips before the shoulder strap detached/ripped (and I got to carry 40L+ around Asia on one shoulder for over a week). They refunded my money, but the cost of their new bags are up 50% from when I bought mine, so to get a new one I’d still be about $125+ out of pocket. Really disappointed in their quality and would never recommend the brand.
We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Tortuga Setout. It must have been quite frustrating to deal with a ripped shoulder strap while traveling. We understand how disappointing it is when a product doesn't meet expectations, especially given the increase in prices. Your feedback is valuable, and we'll make sure to consider it in future recommendations. Thank you for sharing your experience!
I'd prefer if you actually gave a recommended suggestion, not a top five list, which was more like top 7(?) when you take into account the bags that had different sizes.
Thank you for your feedback! For travel, we'd recommend checking out the Bellroy Transit Backpack. It offers ample room for your essentials while still maintaining Bellroy's signature sleek design and organization features. It's designed with travel in mind, so you'll find compartments and pockets strategically placed for easy access to your items while on the go. Plus, its durable construction ensures it can withstand the rigors of travel:)
Peak Design straps are garbage - had the travel bag - if fully packed it’s the worst. Also - can’t take waist strap away - so many good ideas but their harness system is horrible.
We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with Peak Design straps. We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. While we understand it may not meet everyone's needs or preferences, we strive to continually improve the designs and offer high-quality, functional solutions for our customers. We will take your feedback into consideration as we work to make our products better. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to have the opportunity to better serve you in the future.
Let me guess: data analyst, programmer/developer, or engineer..how cliche. “I travel a lot, eat at IG foodie spots, and stay fit with my expensive gym membership!” “I did well in school just like my parents wanted me to!”
Stick to walk throughs. You can't possibly recommend bags for a specific use if you've not even taken them outside, never mind actually traveled with them.
Seriously? I just don't get it. All of these bags are around $300...for a backpack. WTF. I have not problem paying for good quality. Most of these bags have a $40-$60 knock off version on Amazon. Would GLADLY pay even $150 for a good, high quality backpack, but for whatever reason, there is no in -between. Either WAY overpriced or a cheap imitation.
Thanks for your comment. Manufacturing costs and material costs have gone up considerably. Also, most of these brands use more ethical and responsible fabrics, factories, and other materials - these also push the prices up. The knock off products can do it cheaper because 1. they didn't need to spend years designing a product, 2. they aren't using good factories, 3. their fabrics are polluting the waterways, 4. their factory workers aren't paid properly or don't have safe working conditions. This means the product is cheaper, but is this what we want to support?
It’s also important to remember how hard inflation is hitting almost every country with a centralized banking system, especially if you live in a country that has debased their currency into the ground.. dollars just don’t go very far these days.

FYI your top 5 links are to Pakt
Whoops! Thanks for letting us know. All fixed.
pretty surprise no one has reviewed the frenchie co speedback
Having reviewed a lot more bags than this, are we to understand that if you’ve reviewed a bag and it’s not on this list, it’s not as highly recommended as those on this video? I’m between the Aer TP and the Bellroy Transit, so am I reading between the lines correctly here…?
Nice review However a few questions. Which are the two most comfortable bags ? Have you travel tested these bags ?
I adore my Cotopaxi Allpa
Hello. We're thrilled to hear you adore your Cotopaxi Allpa! It's definitely worthy of an honorable mention. Enjoy your adventures with it!
Cabin zero you should make are very good
Thanks for the suggestion! Hopefully, soon. Have a great one!
Apart of the peak design 45L, all the bags are 30L or 28L. Why only on the able carry you suggested that he is small and not for one bag travel?
Which makes me think that the PD 30L should be added to the comparison.
What’s the bag on your thumbnail?
That's Bellroy Transit Backpack in Ranger Green colour. Cheers!
How About some Dj Bags?
Hopefully soon! Thanks for the suggestion, Spartacus. Have a great one! Cheers
strange music the back ground!
Hello. Thanks for your feedback! We’ll look into it to make sure the background music hits the right note next time. Let us know if you have a favorite genre or style you'd like to hear. Cheers!
you only feature same brands…try db journey ones too
You should review more affordable backpacks, there's plenty of frugal travelers like me out there who refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for a good quality backpack.
Thanks for the suggestion, we'll have a look into it. - Prikee
A cheap and poorly made backpack is not worth the time to be reviewed.
All of your affiliate buy links are the same - they all goto the pakt backpack. You should fix this soon. :)
Sorry.. all fixed now!
Idky you keep saying sternum strap for the waist strap 😑
>_< We'll have a word to Ed.

The bellroy is way too small for one bag travel.
None of them looks good as a backpack, tbh. They all look like carrying a big square container at your back.
you are very cute
🤗
You ok bro?
Thank god he didn’t mention ANY GoRuck bags, those things are the most overrated bags on the market
UK ! American vids no good for me.
We're from Australia. But more importantly, we're from Earth.
