I love this song. I was a senior in high school when John Lennon died. I was in Physics class when the news broke and I was so upset I just walked out of the class and went home. Went to school the next day wearing a black arm band on my uniform. Love your cover Alan. :-)

You sound like Ringo but definitely with a higher register. Also your slap is so loud, it sounds like a whip or snapping wood. Love your vids though especially Beatles ones.

Hi Jason - It’s called a palm mute; you have to place your hand across all the strings on a down strum a fraction of a second before the pick hits. It’s all about timing and finding the best position for your hand to make contact. It took me a few days of practice (on and off in bursts of about 10 minutes 3 or 4 times a day) but It was worth it.
