  • BLO continues the second day with Gary, our trip winner to the Delayed Harvest section of the Nantahala River. On this rainy day we ended up catching some decent fish and had a great time. We apologize for our absence but as you know its tough fishing tiny creeks in the dead of winter. Not to worry as BLO has some cool projects coming 2023. Stay tuned and as always thanks for your support!!!

      It can be. The whole weekend was super rainy and the water was up several feet. When it’s normal flow it can fish really well.

    Just got back from spending a couple days on the upper. It's a good mix of both wild and stocker fish. It's a good river for both beginner and seasoned fishermen. I consistently catch (or at least play) a large fish every time I go. I got a (measured) 21'' brown trout last week up there. Of course, I lost one about the same size last Fall. He got into my line in a calm section when my reel hiccuped just enough to break my line. You know, it's a line holder 98% of the time - but sometimes it's a reel. he he he ...

      Philip thanks for watching. That area has a lot of opportunities and I should spend more time up there. Glad you found some nice fish. 21” brown is a good one any day.

      @@bluelineoutfitters3964 There's also WILD section above the lake that is really fun - if you're into that sort of thing ;)

    Is that on the Nantahala or the Upper Nantahala?

    what's the length between the indicator and first / second nymph?

    • @bluelineoutfitters3964
      @bluelineoutfitters3964  3 місяці тому +1

      It’s a fluid situation. I often adjust it for every pool. In this video it was night and fast so basically the length of the 9 foot leader in most pools. But I remember moving it to about 6 foot in a couple pools. If you adjust your indicator depth often to match the water you are fishing you will catch more fish. You have to figure in how fast your flies are sinking so you probably add slightly more than the water depth. Give it some time and play with it and you will catch more fish.
      Euro nymphing is so effective often because they flies are down where the fish are more than indicator fisherman where the indicator is 4 foot from the flies and never gets moved.

      @@bluelineoutfitters3964 thank you. and do you recommend split shots for these waters?

    • @bluelineoutfitters3964
      @bluelineoutfitters3964  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes. Size and weight and is situational. Also be aware that it’s more and more common for lead weight to be illegal in many places so keep that in mind and use an alternative like tungsten or tin when in those places. I usually put the weight about 8-12 inches above the lead fly.

    I have never seen trout more mishandled then this , a absolute CRIME ! They aint bass my friends at BLO !

    • @bluelineoutfitters3964
      @bluelineoutfitters3964  Рік тому +2

      Absolute crime seems a bit much Luther. They are stocked rainbows thrown from bridges to provide entertainment for a few months then to be caught on red worms and ate. Could you cradle each one like a new born? Sure. Can you catch them, unhook them and release them
      In a few seconds with no damage. Sure.
      I added this absolute crime of fish handling video for you. m.ua-cam.com/video/3kjFNbKbWFg/v-deo.html

      @@bluelineoutfitters3964 Sorry you think its a bit much but I stand by my words , wet your hands so their protective film remains and release the fish properly . Set a example for other folks who might not know any better . Maybe that fish might be a memory for another angler , especially a young one !

      Luther y’all take the fun out of fishing. I work for a stocking company in the summer and We throw fish from pretty decent distance on bridges to water and they swim off fine I’ve only seen two not make it. Remind you there’s are the same fish who are dropped from planes going 40 MPH into a lake. Stop acting like if you touch them for a couple second with dry hands there dead if it’s quick and fast no problem

      Give me a break ! We are NOT talking about just stocked fish ! How ignorant can you be ?
