You aren't the only one who thinks so👍. Bob Dylan also described it as the greatest song ever written. The recording was by Glen and the legendary Wrecking Crew. Tim Pierce has a vid where he described that the songwriter Jimmy Webb told Glen it wasn't finished but, with urging from G.C. and his management, he gave it to them anyway. In the studio Glen borrowed a 6 string bass and added the famous understated solo in order to stretch out the song. That's the masterpiece that ended up on record.
What a beautiful piece of music.I met Glynn Campbell when I was a child but had no Idea who he was or what a musician he was.I had to have been maybe seven at the time.
Judging by the comments I think I didn’t give you enough time. To me, you were speed rapping and I couldn’t keep up with the changes and I used to play this song, without a capo although the opening C9 sounded nice.
In the past I was able to buy a downloadable PDF to go with a given lesson. Didn’t see that option available for this song. Did I miss it? Or do you not offer that anymore?
Amazing how players think they got it down but never actually look at the artist performing the song. Campbell uses no capo in his song. The song is very easy to play the right way.
Great lesson for probably one of the greatest songs ever written . Thank You So Much .
