    Wow! That is a lot of work and many custom jigs! No wonder they cost so much. They seem like a great value after seeing how much effort this would take for me to get my workshop setup going, not to mention actually creating the bands. Great video. Thank you.

      Hello ride Alongside,
      yes it does take some time and effort to do all the jigs, but once all is done and set, it will pay for it self in no time.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos.

    Outstanding, wish you had posted this video five years ago, now they have Euro style adaptors with built in inserts and muzzles to accommodate sling bands on Euro style guns that you can buy separately. You have to be able to make bands out in the fieldthese days no matter how well you prepare, rubbers are the first thing to go. The manufacture realized not many people have all these tools or a tool shop, innovation willalways find a way. This is such a great tutorial, maybe next winter I will try this out, you are great craftsman with a lot of creativity. Thanks!

      Hello ramm one,
      for me was the cost of buying ready to use rubber bands that motivated me to find a way to start making it at home, it toke me some time to get all the fixtures made but it was worth it.
      I`m glad that you find this video useful.

    man great video and in general congrats on your job. I saw what you did with the wooden spearguns and it was very nice. Unfortunately I canmot say the same about the rubbers. I admit that the whole jig thing is very clever but because speargun bans are quite "special" I have to say that this is not the proper way to reuse an old pair of bands. I would like to share with you some informations about the matter as lomg as you are interested and please note that I dont want to brag or anything like that. I repeat that I find your work very clever and impressive

    • @MrMyvids4you
      @MrMyvids4you  8 років тому

      Hello ThePlatont,
      I´m only reusing the plastic threaded inserts, to make new rubber bands, using brand new rubber. In my opinion these rubber bands are as good as any pre-made ones, and the final price is less than half.

    Really nice vid and I'm happy it worked, but I feel you overcomplicated this process. A simple knot in a piece of dyneema or spectra inserted in the band and a constrictors know on the band to hold everything in place works just as well. nice video though. the guns look great

      Hello joseph smith,
      some spearguns heads have only 14mm threaded holes to secure the rubber bands, your method is recommended for speargun heads with holes, like the one you have!

    Have had metal inserts and i can see the plastic very well and i also understand the downfall of both of them.
    If the rubber breaks or you accidental slip and it fly into your hand or other bodyparts you will have serious damage and ontop of that the "hard" parts is the reason rubber breaks.
    Skip all the accessories, grind the cone on the rubber. take a "16 strand" 2mm rope and make a figure 8 knot put some dish washing liquid and push it into the hole with a screwdrive (goes very easy)
    then simple make a knot with the thread over the rubber and tighten. no hard parts that will break your rubber or your bones, it may still hurt but nothing compared to hard objects and its also cheaper.

      @@MrMyvids4you im in Europe, south France. Those rubbers are good if you hunt fish in holes, small distance. For biger, faster fish technique waiting or indian 3 rubbers at least (x 16mm). Check website, el greco spearfishing... Can be inspirational. I have one of his guns, 120cm méditerranée. Distance more than 6m, easy..very fast shaft 7mm 160cm.
      and with invert roller as Alemanni guns 8m distance. If you hunt in Mediterranean basin, fish is not as in the oceans... Here, fast reaction is very important or no fish f lunch 😁 in Ocean situation is different, fish dont run away immediately and came easier and closer.
      Like youre videos you are very qood with metal parts, i was so curious to see final results for your roller.. Maby soon.. Thanks for sharing..

      the threaded "male" inserts that are fitted on to the ends of the new rubber bands, are the ones that I removed from the old broken bands, and as far as I know there not available in the market.
      The pieces with inside threads "female" are from a "2mm wire wishbone" and that can be found on any spearfishing store or on line.

    @MrMyvids4you What did you glue inside the caps? Piece of pencil? If so did you drilled all the way making a hole on the piece of pencil? Thanks

    • @MrMyvids4you
      @MrMyvids4you  6 років тому

      Hello Robert Gee,
      the piece of pencil was removed to created a pocket for the ball bearing, the pocket keeps the ball in the right position to be pushed into the rubber band.
      The hole that i drilled and tapped is for the threaded metal piece (srew) to push the ball bearing into the rubber band, locking the plastic insert in the right position.

      Hello 98976h,
      making the jigs "tools" is the only thing that will take some time, once that is done making the bands is quite simple and fast to do.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos.

      Hello Νικος Παπαδακης
      once the "jigs" are made it's very easy and fast to make all kinds of sizes of rubber bands, and the price is less then half from the ones already made.

      Hello Alberto Acosta,
      i know it´s easier to go to the store and buying it ready to use, however the time and work to make the tools will be paid in no time and the satisfaction of doing it yourself is price less.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos!
