Nice video ... the 1521 is really charming. I Have had a few, but the one i kept re-buying was the Blue Blasted. It sits proudly in my collection (amongst other high end swiss pieces). The blasted case and matte dial makes the watch different again, very unique ... I love taking mine on holidays to tropical places. I like the Oanda and other models too ... but the blue 1521s are my favourite. Re the indices, Im also a fan of applied indicies ... but to me on these original vintage inspired type models it should be printed dial, just like the bezel is supposed to be aluminium (as it was on the on the original squale dive/tool watches from the 70's). I am also a big fan of Squale. My favorite is my Squale Matic. Don't let the snobs intimidate you, most are just desk divers, so wear the strap of your choice. Besides, these days divers usually wear a computer.

I have the white dial also. I really love the way it looks. I bought mine on the mesh but I am thinking about adding a light brown leather strap. I like the way yours looks on leather. I have a 60 atmos also and it is definitely a big watch. i like both of them and im glad i bought the white one because theyre not that common especially in the US.

I think a light brown leather strap works with many watches, but you can easily switch between milanese and strap, back and forth. I love the look and especially the bezel. You will definitely be one of the very few in the US that has this watch. Congrats!

The Reef is beautiful as a sailing watch, and I love the dual meaning of "reef" here. It could mean "coral reef" as seen scuba diving, or it could mean "reefing the sails" as when sailing in high winds or heavy weather. As I understand, as only a casual diver and sailor, diver-style watches were/are used in regattas for timing the stages (hence Rolex' Submariner-esque Yachtmaster). I am a Squale lover as well who has yet to find the occasion to afford one. I would love a polished case 1521 with the matte blue dial & bezel of the bead-blasted model, is that something that exists? I regularly wear a Seiko diver in polished/black dial (looks like your 60 Atmos, even with 4 o'clock crown) with a milanese mesh bracelet, and I sometimes swap to a brown leather strap from an old Tudor Prince Date-Day (which was stolen from me). It looks very nice to me both ways, but I dream of that lovely blue Squale with orange minute hand. Thank you for sharing your collection. Ms. x x

What a roundup of beautiful distinct pieces. I don't understand why many people have a negative view of Squale, they appear to make serious quality dive watches. As long as they perform as described, esp with that ETA workhorse of a movement, what's not to love? They seem to have a color scheme for most any occasion as well.
Hi. Totally missed your comment, sorry. I simply love that Onda means wave. But it also means "what's up?" or "what's happening?" when you say Que Onda. Love it. I researched the Swiss thing some time ago. The brand is Swiss and the production is Swiss - but the brand was transferred from the original Swiss owner to the long-time friend and Italian reseller. So it is more or less "in the family" still. This means that management is sitting in Milan, but with production in Switzerland. So what counts more - where the watch is produced, or where management and sale is happening from? Hmm, I don't care as long as they produce good watches and great design :-)
The orangish leather band on the blue 1521 looks awesome ! That band is not shown on the Squale or Long Island Watches websites. How can I get one ASAP with that blue watch ?
Hi. I always change the standard strap to something else on all my watches. I bought this orange leather strap maybe 4 years ago. I think it was at strapcode.com in Hong Kong, I’m not sure. They still have leather natos, but I couldn’t see this orange strap on their website any longer, but do check it out. Maybe you can find something similar somewhere else.

But that blue🤦♂️🤣 a lot of just blue watches, want something special with caribbean, but little bit concern about size. I think 7 inch would be alright with that watch.
Hi. Dang, I forgot to put them on the wrist. Thanks for reminding me. It’s important to get them on the wrist. The 1521 is a clear winner on the wrist, whereas the matic looks really good, but wears large. But they are both great watches, and I really like Squale and their blues.

A lot of reviewers agree that it wears smaller. This means: With the dimensions it “should” be a big watch, and I would never choose such a big watch for myself. But when you try it, it doesn’t look as big as the dimensions. So the watch looks smaller than what you would think, and it sits comfortably. It is not a small watch, but it wears smaller than a 42mm. Most people can wear this comfortably, Hope that helps.

Hi Greg. I’d love to answer. My wrists are 7 inch. The Matic looks really, really good (which is why I bought it) knowing all too well it is too big. My advice would always be: Buy the 1521, and forget the Matic. That naturally depends on a lot of things, but size is important and the 1521 wears like a dream compared to the Matic. Both look good, so you don’t sacrifice any looks by going with the 1521, especially if you choose the Onda with the applied markers. In any case, it’s a good watch no matter what you decide. happy hunting, Greg

Hi Julius. I totally missed your comment, sorry. I have bought most of my Squale at Gnomon. They are really reliable and have a great assortment of Squale. The only trouble is that Gnomon is from Singapore and you may encounter tax upon entering EU (but most packages from Gnomon evade the radar somehow). You can also try ebay, but can highly recommend Gnomon if you are looking for a new watch. Good luck on your search.

Yeah, it is always a good idea to see one in person before buying. The shade of colour is best seen in person so you can decide. I have the same problem when buying that I cannot get to see one in person, because they are only available for buying online. So what to do? The “next best thing” is to see a youtube video because then you get at least an impression. That is why I like youtube reviews. Without them we are buying in the blind. With the youtube reviews we are only buying “half in blind” but at least with some impression. I think the pink version is shown by Islander Watches, so you can check his review.

Hi. I was thinking of turning that into a topic some time. We all got to draw a line somewhere that stops us from buying a watch. For some it is the date, for others it is the size or the lume or something else. Our “line in the sand” is somewhat arbitrary and each of us have our own. Mine is missing AR coating, and is that rational? Not really, but it’s enough for me. So maybe I should do this as a topic sometime.

The word “onda” means wave in Italian too. Consider that Squale watches are Swiss made, but Squale is based in Milan.

I am seriously considering the Blue 1521. Beautiful watch. Small correction, Squale translates to "shark" not wave.

I like everything Squale does with regards to the 1521. However, the pink is perhaps not for me. I’ll wait and hope they come out with other colours.
