The MOST DANGEROUS HIKE we've been on so far (ACATENANGO VOLCANO) - Guatemala travel vlog

  • We woke up at 6am to hike Guatemala's most active volcano FUEGO. Situated at 13000 ft, ACATENENGO is the dormant volcano next to FUEGO which is where we will stay for the overnight. This HIKE was NOT easy and the extra hike to FUEGO really killed us (especially the elevation). Watch until the end to find out our experience as we got real close to FUEGO when it exploded.

      So jealous! And it’s great to be young to be able to do this! My husband and I were in Antigua three weeks ago. And we spent our wedding anniversary watching Fuego Volcano erupting “all day” Just fascinating! Thanks for your video to show us how it is up there, close and personal! A memorable experience for sure! All the best to you guys!

      @@SB-qs9zu thank you for such a nice comment! we’re very grateful our bodies allowed us to make it up there. And, happy wedding anniversary! May I ask how many years y’all have been married? I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate than a visit to Antigua - it’s truly a magical city.

      @@kineticpassports Oh. Wow! How SUPER SWEET of you to ask about our anniversary! It was the 33rd anniversary. This one is very special to me. I’m 66. At 33, I got married. And I’ve been married for 33 years. 33+33=66 That means I spent half of my life being married! Go figure! LOL Yes. Antigua is so enchanting/charming and it reminds us a lot of Kathmandu. Safe travels and keep sharing! Muchas gracias!

      @@SB-qs9zu what a milestone! Half your life married - wow! We aspire to that, though we’re only 4 years in (almost 5)! Congratulations to you two - that is a really special anniversary.
      We’re actually headed to Kathmandu in a couple of weeks to start the Everest base camp trek. So, we’ll definitely be sharing that!

    Yay! You used your trekking poles! Awesome! Looks like a great trip!
    I learned recently (from a YT video, of course) that you should put your trekking pole straps on from underneath, that way if you fall you won't risk breaking your wrists and your hands are free to catch yourself.

    • @kineticpassports
      @kineticpassports  Місяць тому +1

      Thought you’d approve 👍😉 And, good tip! We’ve always been told to never use the straps going downhill, but this makes a lot of sense.

    You guys are so great for pushing so hard but on the way was so cute for feeding the dogs not many do that but that was so humble for the dogs. Hope you had a great time and Epic in Guatemala. Thanks you for viciting my Country.

      Guatemala was by far one of the most amazing countries we’ve been to. And, we especially loved all the street dogs we came across. We noticed the locals took good care of them which was very heartwarming - it’s not like that in every country. Thank you so much for your sweet comment!

    Super cool video! Were you able to use a drone easily for those shots and if so which one? Just curious because I was wondering how restrictions for drones are in Guatemala

    • @kineticpassports
      @kineticpassports  Місяць тому

      There aren't any restrictions atleast by the volcano but we also used the drone in Antigua without any issues. We just had the DJl Mini 3 - one thing i would do differently is get multiple batteries or bigger battery, even though Fuego looks close from Acatenengo, I almost ran out of battery on the way back.

    • @stevennoguera7724

      @@kineticpassports Thanks! And are there any permits or anything else needed to bring the drone into Guatemala or be able to fly it freely? I'm traveling there next week.

    what camera did you use to film this and what did you pack for the hike?

    • @kineticpassports
      @kineticpassports  10 днів тому +1

      We shot most of the hiking shots with our GoPro, and most of the exploding volcano shots with our Sony A7C. We also used our dji drone. Re packing - we brought with a change of clothes (for cooler temps on the mountain), toiletries, battery packs and sleeping bags. Few things I thought were really important to have - some sort of face cover to protect from the dust, hiking poles, headlamp. Gaiters are a nice to have.

    • @kineticpassports
      @kineticpassports  3 місяці тому

      All those explosions were caught on our A7C Sony camera. We saw some folks take pictures of the explosions on their iPhones that were pretty good. Videos may not be as good from the campsite
