Cool review man. As an ex owner I pretty much agree with everything you said.
The one downside I found with mine: the car is just so extremely capable and its limits are so very high that you have to be speeding to really enjoy it. Like constantly driving around over 100km/h.
I found most of the time I was driving mine around the streets at 50km/h and at those speeds its just a stiff race car on bumpy roads and wasnt very pleasant.
So I didnt enjoy mine as much as I thought I would and ended up selling it, but I dont regret it for an instant, it was my dream car and I owned one so im happy.

Great review. These cars were made during a special time at honda. If you can get your hands on the Club Racer (CR) version of the s2000, consider reviewing one. Uehara said its positioned between the type S and type R. A little over 600 made and only sold in the U.S. however, people have imported them into Asia and the UK.

this car is still looking hot until today, i felt in love with it since the very 1st time i saw FD2R, that was 2008...oh yea, did u install those reverse sensors? Correct me if i were wrong, because as far as i know, there is no reverse sensors for FD2R right?

Is this the mugen? The bonnet doesn't look like a standard type r as it has vents
For the uninitiated, it can be very hard to explain why the FD2R is such a special car. I've driven my fair share of other makes and models, but the 8th Generation Civic in Type R form just got so many things right. There are so many things you can change or modify with the car, but the one thing that gives the FD2R it's character - something you can't "modify" into other cars really is the chassis. The chassis for one is absolutely amazing. Nothing feels quite like it - it's stiff and uncompromising, but as a driver, you always feel like it's got you covered. Even the driving position and ergonomics are very special. If you've ever sat in a RHD 8th Gen Civic, you'll notice how relaxed you feel with your hand on the shifter. Visibility for daily driving is not very good, but on the track or when you are attacking corners, it's just right - the front view is very purposeful, the car almost doesn't care about anything else. Be aware though, that this car makes many sacrifices for the sake of going faster on a track : soundproofing is rubbish, the aforementioned ride is terrible and will have your passengers complaining constantly, it has even deleted one passenger seat a the back; while the standard FDs sit 5, this car is a 4 seater (including driver); also, the geometry on this car sets it aside from a non-type R, Take one out for a spin and compare it with most other performance cars and you will realize, this car really does have amazing handling.
I've been lucky to own one, and really, this thing will put a smile on your face.

nice bro..before this i think civic type r fd2r have front fog light and touch screen with gps..so why the car on video do not have screen and front fog light?
zahir batin I think the one he's reviewing is 2007 not the newer 2010 one.
+zahir batin only fn2r (euro model) has fog lights. FD2R (jdm) does not have fog lights thruout its flagship models. facelifted models (2009 onwards) only have side mirror indicators and comes with much more color choice, i.e. maroon and black.

sadly we never got the type R here in Canada. but, we did get the Acura CSX and with that u can swap in the fd2 parts and have a lhd clone

I do believe that the regulation in canada import law stated that the car needs to be at least 15 year old to make it eligible.

Yes bud , two uk spec, one jdm 96 spec and two jdm 98spec , one of my 98spec dc2s was 👌🏻I put so much money into that car, had to sell to help fund the fd2. Don’t regret it at all as the fd2 is a masterpiece. I will own another dc2 to sit along side the fd2. You enjoying the fd2 bud ?

Clutched The 2015 Civil Type R will no longer have that signature VTEC sound. Me so sad. :(
It will be a truly great hot hatch because Honda only make legendary cars, but it will not be better than this masterpiece.
MrStamford78 The new CTR will make all previous Type Rs (to include the FD2 and NSX-R) irrelevant. Yeah, the Earth Dreams engine isn't going to have that N/A K20 sound, but with 290 ft/lbs of torque, who cares? The new CTR handles better, stops better, and goes faster. With that said, I would trade my DC5 ITR for a FD2 in a heartbeat. Not only is the FD2 absolutely gorgeous, it's just an incredible car.

Abt vtec n type r.. this is how I explains to my wife against turbo car... Type r is like doing long distance run and it has the energy to juice endless faster speed and stamina if u wan to and somehow it just seems like it will nvr reach the peak.. for turbo, yes they pickup real fast like sprinter... But they won't last long
