HI lovely friends. What are your top tips to looking current and not outdated? We'd love to hear your views in our wonderful community. Lots of love to you all. Deirdre. XX
I have always felt that pulling up our bra straps to avoid a saggy chest is essential - and a good tip for a woman of any age. I know that even Rome fell, but we shouldn’t advertise the fact that we’re not as perky as we once were! 😂
Yes, but as we age the shape of our breasts change. They may be smaller or larger. I’ve seen far too many women continue to purchase the exact same size bra throughout their lives. Instead they need to be fitted properly by an expert at a department store, or I Lingerie store. Instead of a 34B you may now need a 36.
I'm wearing a chunky plastic necklace from Talbots, ready to go to a special holiday dinner. I almost took it off after watching this but nope, I love it. It makes me happy. It's cheerful and colorful.
I totally agree. I have lots of statement costume jewellery, large rings, necklaces and earrings and nothing would make me stop wearing them. I find this so called classy jewellery so boring. It might be OK for a job interview or a funeral but that is really all I think its good for.
Thank you for all your wonderful suggestions . I would wear everything you showed. I just turned 72 and always try to look appropriately youthful and tasteful. Love the shirt, leather jacket and jeans. That is a look I wear a lot. I agree that many styles I see for mature women are over sized and baggy. They look like “older lady” styles. Also love the jewelry suggestions-so elegant and beautiful. Thank you Dierdre.. love your videos. ❤
OMG, I needed to hear this so very much. I wear baggy stuff way too often, and you are absolutely right, it doesn't help me at all. thanks for another great video.
Hi Dierdre I never take offence at these type of videos, I love them, it's nice to hear someone elses perspective and suggestions on how to look more modern and youthful. I'll often watch and think "yes I didn't think of that, I'll give it a try!". It's helpful and constructive so thankyou so much x
I love checking out her links posted. I am finding new ideas for updating my wardrobe, for example, the Vivaia shoes! ( in past video). The flats are so nice!
I wanted to let you know you had inspired me to purchase a beautiful dress similar to the one you wore in the wedding video. You called it a Marilyn dress. I felt so beautiful in it and it was really shape contouring! Thank you for all your inspiring videos! You have excellent taste and tips!
Wonderful tips here, Deirdre. I am always looking for ways to keep fresh and relevant and this is helpful advice. Thank you and I hope you are feeling better.
I’m 5’8 and weigh just under 8stone and I am turning 60 soon. Quality is now what I look for in fashion and accessories but not too much of the accessories. I once bought from secondhand shops but now i save and shop at David Jones and Instead of wearing all my old hippie beads, I’ve now opted for 18ct and 22ct gold pieces of jewellery and I purchase my jewellery from cash converters. That way I don’t pay the ridiculous prices from local jewellers. I now find that I take very good care of everything I own since becoming a minimalist. Many thanks for the tips you shared. Have a wonderful new year..
@@Smashingblouse I have always been lean like a race horse and even after having three children I thought I might of gained a few pounds. But not the case.
@@Stevie6636 oh wow that’s brilliant. I’m 5ft3 and 8st5 which is ok but im hoping I don’t blow up after menopause. No sign of it yet but I’m 43 next month. Thank you for your reply 🫶🏻
@@Stevie6636 I expect because you’ve kept yourself so well. My friend has become overweight since her husband passed and it’s really messed with her hormones so she now on HRT and she’s only a year older than myself. Stay well 🙃
I do feel that a classic pearl strand feels frumpy for my age, 63, I wore those in my 20s. I don’t want to look like I never updated my style. But, I love jewelry with pearls mixed with gold elements, they look more modern to me. I love my pearl station necklace, for example and simple gold and pearl-drop earrings. I do like the variation you show here, with the gold beads and Y-drop. Pearls are projected to be even more popular next year.
I like the idea of creating tension in my outfits by combining formal/classic pieces with casual/relaxed pieces and definitely think it gives a contemporary vibe to our look. Thank you for sharing this, Deidre. 🧚🏻♀️❤️🐝
Nice video! I live in a cold climate so winter I dress in layers. I have become a big fan of shackets. They are good for cooler weather. I noticed if I button them they swallow me up. Now I open them. No animals or sayings on my clothes. I am retired. I like casual but feminine. Jewelry I have my mom’s and grandmas I get lots of compliments on my jewelry. Summer I like ankle pants and sundresses.
I used to think pearls were for old (70+) people. But now I love them Temeless and elegant, you can ware it in a more classic way but also with jeans and sneackers I love your tips X
Deirdre you could never offend. Mom and I are both watching again YEAH! You always give us the best advice. Mom was so excited to see you again and stop talking about you today. Thank you for another wonderful video. Sending our love to Scott Blessing Hugs Love Victoria and Barbara ❤️❤️
Deirdre, another wonderful video. Your energy and personality really shine. Dressing too baggy is a mistake many women, including myself make too often.
I love pearls. I make jewellery As a hobby and if I need something for an event or holiday. Today I am wearing a single South Sea Pearl with matching earrings. I also love pearls with turquoise x
I love your ideal and to be really truthful i already dress this way and im 78. I actually go to thrift stores because i have a very good eye and can afford many more outfits. Compleatly agree with you and thanks.😅
Very helpful video, and your examples are so illuminating! Thanks so much for how clear you make things. I've definitely been guilty of #1 and have realized I have a tendency to look schlumpy because of it. I'm going to try your tips! ❤
I totally love that Leather jacket.. I wear 3 small Necklaces as it is dainty but yet stylish ...also your Y Tahitian pearl necklace! I style Men, that's my Job in a Store in the U.S! Thank you for sharing... Style is Style💖
I always purchase modern accessories. This helps my classic pieces look up to date. I have also purchased one or two modern pieces of clothing that can be transformed into a classic piece. For example, my off the shoulder cream sweater can be worn as a one shoulder piece or wear it up on both shoulders. This piece has been worn for special events, everyday looks, and even my office. For the special event, I paired it with a modern skirt and classic shoes.
Unlike many of us, you have a lovely slim figure, so yes, you do look good in these outfits. Many of us watching this couldn’t wear these clothes with our very imperfect figures.
Another way you can do the loose top and more fitting pants with a wide woven tan belt, can be very flattering. Or vice versa bit more fitted top and loose pants/skirt. The belt can slim your hips or tummy or give you shape depending how wide or tight you wear the belt.
You look fabulous as usual. Thanks for taking the time to explain why things work and why they don't. It certainly helps me. Your figure looks terrific Deirdre! Have a wonderful December. Love from Florida. xx
In my opinion, I agreed with your strategy of changing some items in a classic look so that they're a mix of contemporary fashion. But, I loved the bland and white loose blazer and bow white top, which was replaced by 3 items. Only one item of the previous so-called boring look was retained. The new look was not polished but trying too hard to be contemporary. Maybe just the t-shirt and/or the shoes could have been replaced and that would have achieved the up-to-date blend you were aiming for.
Excellent suggestions as always! I love pearls and the new looks are indeed modern and fresh. I just ordered a necklace and 2 sets of earrings from Gingiberi. Your code worked- thank you. The Christmas $20 wasn’t applied to my $500 order however. PS you look fab in the black off the shoulder top! Update- I love the Gingiberi pieces. Importantly the Gingiberi customer service is outstanding. First, they took care of the Christmas code I mentioned aboce soon after I messaged them about it. Second, there was a problem with the clasp on the hoop earring and they immediately sent replacement. Buy with confidence!!
Great advice. With the second outfit, the suit: I think the blazer and trousers would be fine together, paired with the same t- shirt and trainers, if you don't like jeans.
I decided to get rid of everything I had in big floral prints…I had lots and I just felt dumpy when I tried them on. Also I have a color theme…soft whites, tobacco, denim, and soft pinks. I am blue eyed and blonde, so black is hard to wear and make me feel old especially near my face. I basically love the colors you wear.
I do like that you didn’t chop your hair off like every women thinks they need to do over fifty! I always had Lon to medium length hair so that short spikes though cute won’t fit me!
I was given a super long strand of pearls (fake of course but nice quality) and I can wrap it 3 times.... I add a chunky gold chain to it and wear it with an open button down and it looks and feels amazing! Pearls brighten the face. Lovely. You look gorgeous in ivory, btw!
Older sounds right. No I used to when I was young it was called frumpy managed to get out of that phase. New to this sight and enjoy looking my best and younger
Hi Deidre, great video, thanks...loved the classic blazer with jeans, sneakers, and tshirt!!!..youre right all the black together did look a bit ageing and looks like you were heading out to the office!!!!..I love pearls you can get some great ones these days as you showed us!! one of my daughters brought me some lovely little stud pinky coloured pearl earrings last year & they look great with any outfit to be honest!!..I am trying really hard to not wear baggy tops!!!..I think when I look in the mirror I keep wondering where did I go?????!!! but youre right it can do the exact opposite!!!!..anyway deidre you look fabulous!!!!..from one of your avid viewers..all the way from South Australia...Love Margaret xo
Hi again from Australia Deirdre! 🇦🇺 👋 Another really considered and helpful video....thank you so much. I think the pearls are absolutely stunning, but sadly for me, I tend to avoid wearing necklaces as I have one of those chests that don't have that lovely concave area for a necklace to 'settle' in....on me they stand forward (I hope I'm explaining properly), so my focus is generally on earrings. Anyway....for all your efforts as always, a big thank you. xxx
Learned some things! I need to dig out my blazer and put it with my jeans. You looked great in all the outfits but the off the shoulder top and white skirt outfit was so gorgeous, very pretty.
Thank you very much for this wonderful video, Deirdre. Your advice is excellent and so realistically modern. I admire your examples and am definitely going to follow them. Best wishes always! ❤

I have a long strand of pearls that has modern silver bands in between. I can wear the strand as 2 layers, or long which comes about midway down my front. I wear modern silver, like earrings, or a bracelet cuff with it. I
I love ur ideas so pretty, but in all honesty, I'm from NYC, so I mixed the festive with the Hip Hop! My answer is faux furs and satins. I prefer silk/satin over cotton, because I feel that cotton is scratchy and uncomfortable, and probably couldn't get me into the clubs where I wanna meet a sweet bbc , so I decided to get a silky Ralph Lauren gold chain bow blouse that has a nice tailored look with wide red satin slacks and a matching red satin blazer, splurged on lots of gold jewelry and gold bamboo hoop earrings and crowned myself with a tilted fur kangol bucket hat and some high heeled timberland boots i was let into a hip hop nightclub that 90% of you probably couldn't step foot into that night lol. I got several numbers and now a date. Thanks for the Christmas outfit idea video. Nice flowing blouse was the answer!

I just found your page. I loved this video and will share it with friends. Pearls are favorites of mine. In fact, I have declared Saturday as officially “Pearl Day on the Farm”. Even if I don’t leave the farm, I still dress nicely and wear pearls any chance I get. I’ll be watching for you! X

That sounds wonderful. I love pearls. XX
Will you be doing a spring presentation for 2024
Wear whatever you like.
You look so much better with that less bright lipstick color❤
Hi Deirdre, enjoying your advice very much. X
