I still remember buying my first big girl unisaw back in 2002, since upgraded to the “New” unisaw in 2011. It’s a good day when you set that thing up dial it in ! Good luck I hope you make it happen soon….
Sam, the SawStop is a dream for me. It activated the safety feature once when I was in a hurry and used a metal push stick - never again - to cut a thin strip. That tool got trapped in the blade - or it would have in an ordinary saw. Saw stop saved my tail - but losing the blade was painful. So, I didn't make that mistake again :) Keep in mind that cast iron top RUSTS like mad if you are not careful so baby it. I remember first using that saw. Could not believe the power of it. Dado cuts are ridiculously powerful. It blows through any wood like nothing - even Hickory. I love the saw and have had it for about 8 years. Couldn't imagine life without it. Beautiful outfeed table. Love it. I should mention that you can buy zero clearance inserts for the saw. I highly recommend it. And if you go the dado route you need to purchase a separate clutch for the saw as the standard one doesn't fit properly. Always glad to see you on a Saturday Sam. Keep up the amazing work and yes - Sam does not use stain. I love it! I'm a natural wood type of person! Sam, one final note - please use a respirator when you use a circular saw. That dust accumulates in your lungs. Be safe. We love you!
Beautiful! both your OFT and the saw!!! I agree the light color does look great and I look forward to seeing what you create with this new addition to your shop! Congrats!
Congrats on getting the new table saw and outfeed table of your dreams. But my favorite thing about watching this is seeing how happy and excited you are. ( This makes me happy now ). 😁 I bought this saw about 18 months ago and it was the best thing ever so I know the feeling. So enjoy, have fun and I look forward to all the future projects.
very nice. the only question I have is related to your outfeed table. if it sits level with the saw top, you may need to extend the mitre slots to accommodate sleds and panel cutting jigs, etc, other than that I really dig the butcher block top
I just watched your faux brick wall DIY before being sent here and had a little cheer when I heard the "One day I'm gonna be one of those legit UA-camrs with a really cool backdrop..."! YES GIRL YOU WILL!!! 💪🏻 So proud of you!!!
Awesome video. Congrats on your new shop AND your new big girl saw. I think it’s so cool how you seemed more excited about the out feed table than you did about the new Sawstop. 😁😁😁😉
I suppose a big girl saw would be nice, but I will probably stick to my dewalt construction table saw for a while. I am having a large shop built on my property so I will probably do the out feed table and it will be nice to have equipment stay in place vs. my current set up of rolling equipment out on my drive way to have a temporary wood shop set up. It works, but is a bit of a pain. It will also be nice to have a place to store lumber where currently I have a little bit of space in my garage but once the shop is built I will have much more space.
Oh and I just wanted to promote your DO IT YOURSELF coffee mugs!!! I have a pink one so far and even putting it in my dish washer, it is amazingly durable!!! Excellent merchandise!!
I have a similar fixed up garage.......For a table saw, I just have a cheap made in China Ryobi portable table saw and use it outside the garage when I need it to prevent dust buildup.......
Nicely done. With the wide table on the saw, you might consider securing it to the floor. I could see putting something heavy on the right side of the table and having the saw move.
Watching now! Let me know why you are getting rid of it! I know it must have been a hard decision. Oh I see. Ok cool!!! Dude! I so need to build that!!! Looking up the measurements now! 🎉🎉
Having a cabinet saw is such huge step up over a little contractor saw. People that haven't used one just don't know. I've had a 3hp Jet cabinet saw for over 20 years. My brother came by one time when I was building new kitchen cabinets and remarked that the parts looked like they were cut by a CNC. I had a stack of carcass parts that were exactly identical. That is not going to happen with a contractor saw (at least not by me). Now route out slots for the miter gauge. I drilled holes at the end of the slots so sawdust would fall through rather than collect in the slot.
My dad was a contractor and foreman for all his life, and the first tool that he got rid of was a table saw. Even though a table saw does come in handy to do many types of specialized cuts, he taught me how to get it done much more safely by using jigs, straight edges/guides and other power tools (i.e. circular saws, routers, etc...)...plus they take up less room. Taking into my comment consideration is that SawStop didn't exist back when my father was alive; he passed away a year before it hit the market.
I always wondered why you didn't have a cabinet saw and workbench. Now I know. I just got my sawstop 2 months ago. Now I have to completely redo my outfeed table but I'm looking forward to it. Congratulations. That saw is a game changer!
Love the progress!! It is also super helpful to me to see how you organize the shop as I will be moving to a shop that I think is nearly identical in size!
There is nothing wrong with making your workshop look extra special. I spent a bit of time making it look extra special, it also makes people go wow when they walk in. It is good that you are good at your day job and content creation because I don’t think you would have made it as a pop star. Hehehe, leave in the funny parts
The government may mandate SawStop technology bc of how much money is lost when people cut their fingers off on a tablesaw. It happens way more than you'd think.
Goals. 🙌🏼 NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH POP PUNK. SoCo and Senses Fail are perfect shop music. Add in a little Bayside and ADTR, and we’re shop music twinning. 🙃
It's beautiful!! I just wanna move-in there. 😆 That was a dream for me too... oh well, next life maybe. I know you will make some awesome stuff on it. 🧡
It’s the 3HP, I was going back and forth myself but if you’re already making the leap, it’s not THAT much more and it’s basically a last saw you’ll need to buy kind of situation at that point.
Is the gap between the saw and the table dangerous? That question aside the saw and workbench are beautiful and can't wait to see what you build with them!
Nope! My dust collector sticks out a bit, so having that gap gives me access to it pretty easily. The saw is perfectly level with the table. So, nothing really gets stuck or caught on the ledge. And, thank you!
You are a superhuman! I dont know how you do all of this with a full time job!! I still have boxes in my guest room after a full year 😫 Nevertheless you are inspiring!! 🤗
I was disassembling garden beds, and stopped dead in my tracks to say there is no such thing as too much pop punk. I am glad you corrected course lol #itsnotaphasemom
Nice work and nice saw! You mentioned that you are starting to "feel your age". If that's the case, I highly urge you to look into and possibly even give the carnivore diet a try for 6 months and see how you feel. It has done wonders for me and 2 friends.
@diyhuntress no but, you should greatly reduce it until you see how it affects your body. Some can still have good quality cheese once or twice a week and some have negative reactions to it. Myself, I have it about once a week on my burgers.
I have the same saw, and while I try to use the blade guard when I can, I find a lot of what I cut is pieces below 3” and at that point the blade guard is really intrusive. For wider panels it is certainly useful and it has the kickback pawls as an added benefit. In any case, the riving knife is ESSENTIAL.
As a 36 year old man, I hope to get a big girl saw one day too.

Yess! I want this to be the spot I never want to leave!
Love your enthusiasm in this video. I found myself smiling and very happy for you. I wish you well with the new SawStop. 🇨🇦💝🙏👍

I'm so happy for you Sam, the work shop is looking awesome. I wish i had that much space in my shed. Take care of you.

I recently got the 36" PCS with the router extension. I would recommend getting the hydraulic mobile base.

Nicely done. With the wide table on the saw, you might consider securing it to the floor. I could see putting something heavy on the right side of the table and having the saw move.

This is so exciting to watch, I can't wait to see the rest of the shop build!!
Congratulations ❕ I know you and your big girl saw will enjoy many happy and productive years together ❤❤
What a sweet setup! All your hard work leading to a cool shop is awesome to watch!

What about using a blade guard with dust collection ? When I use my Sawstop with dust collection, I barely have any dust.
Congratulations!! This looks amazing!! And keeping it natural was a great call!
Thanks so much!!

Yup when i upgraded it was. Game changer, the cuts are so much easier and more accurate
Congratulations! The only question I have is, why didn’t you get the premium fence for the saw?
Are you going to put a coating or mat on your out feed table to use it as a glue up or construction space???
My dad was a contractor and foreman for all his life, and the first tool that he got rid of was a table saw.

Great Job, You Rock Girl
When we downsized our house (and I lost my large shop space), I had to sell me cabinet saw and get a job site saw. Saddest day of my life.... :(

congratulations on the new saw! I would love to get one in the future. which saw motor did you get, the 1.75hp or 3hp?

Soooo, no blade guard?
It does come with one, but I don’t have mine attached with my current setup. It’s very easy to put on though if I ever want to.
