The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Today was Teresa's birthday and it's been awhile since we have seen her, so thank you for this video! "Lucky in Love" was written by the hit songwriting team of the 1920's, Ray Henderson, B.G. DeSylva, Lew Brown (better known as DeSylva, Brown and Henderson) and comes from the musical, "Good News". Also hope to see Kitty Kallen, Joni James, Eileen Barton, Eileen Rodgers, Jill Corey, Kathy Linden, Linda Scott, etc.

@@that70sgirl90 Unfortunately, he passed away one month ago. It's been the hardest and most painful time in my life. He was my best friend and protector for my entire life. I cried a lot during the first couple of weeks afterward, and miss him every day.
I understand what you meant when you said you sometimes have trouble watching the Sullivan videos because they reminded you of your mother. Since we shared most of the same interests in music, and watched music, TV shows and movies together, everything reminds me of my grandfather as well. I know he was 94 when he passed, but he was in perfect health up to a few months ago, and even right up to the end, his mind was all there and he was telling me everything was going to be fine.
I won't write too much because it's painful to relive the last week of his life or so. I can say the last time he went to the hospital, we both had no idea he wasn't coming back again, and I wish I could say and do some things differently. We did tell each other we loved each other a lot though, especially during the last year, so I'm glad for that. Also, I know that he would want me to be happy, so I've been trying my hardest to get back to normal without my best friend, and now being alone much of the time.
I'm still feeding the wild rabbits we both love that live in the backyard (especially Mr. Rabbit who lives here) and the neighbors have told me that my grandfather is always watching, so I still talk to him sometimes too.
I'm sorry, I didn't want to make you feel sad, but I did want to tell you earlier what had happened, I just wasn't exactly sure how to do it. I do have a good idea now, I think, of what you went through when your mother passed away.
I'm trying hard to accept what happened (although I still believe it could have been prevented somehow) and be happy again. Little by little, I'm able to enjoy reading, watching TV, etc. more again, as I know that's how my grandfather would want it. He always wanted me to be happy and not to worry. Listening to music we both loved is hard because I'll always wish he could still be here listening with me and loving it like he used to.
Please continue to write to me anytime you like, and hopefully someday we can go back to the happy conversations we used to have!

@@that70sgirl90 Hi, it's good to hear from you! I wanted to write to you sooner but wasn't sure of the exact words to write. Sadly, my grandfather passed away a month ago. I wrote a long response to you but it got deleted somehow, so I'll make this one short. I miss him every day as he was my best friend. We shared so many of the same interests and it's tough not having anyone now to share my favorite music with, as well as so many other things. He also looked out for me my entire life so it's not easy to adjust to life without him. I'm trying hard to be happy because I know that's what he would want. I hope you have been doing better, but I know you also went through a difficult loss recently.

Yes I've been hoping for this particular one.
There's a photo on the web of her singing another song, probably Peace of Mind, in this dress at front stage. Now that mystery is solved.
I have a yen to see her sing The Thing on Nov 26 1950. Hopefully including any interaction she had with Ed.
Her first Sullivan appearance was Aug 7, 1949.
