My second session of kdm and the first ever hunt phase resulted in confronting the cyclops knight and getting TPK'd in the hunt phase of our only survivors... narratively we said we all woke from the same horrid dream but dared not speak of it and ventured out on the hunt just as we dreamed of but each was now weary of the sounds of metal clanging. A sound we'd only ever heard in our dream. I went online and bought the cyclops knight model immediately to commemorate the experience.

Do you have a recent video explaining how the purchases for this game work? I assume these expansions are new bad guys to fight (including loot that comes with them) but do they add to the story or anything? Also when I go on the web store there are always new minis to buy, are these just for painting, or do they add to the game(if so how)? *if it’s not obvious I don’t own the game but I’m heavily interested*
The game, in its current state, has a very loose sandbox style to it. You can add whatever you want, whenever you want. The expansions themselves, currently, have two types to them. A monster you can hunt and build gear from, and a nemesis monster that shows up at specific times during a campaign, acting as mini-boss. All the expansions fit into the larger world and add to the lore you will experience. Two of the current 12 expansions introduce entire new storylines. In the future, there will be rules for how to better structure your expansions prior to starting your campaign. The single mini products, or White Boxes as they are called by the community, add very small amounts of gameplay. They would not really meet my definition of an "expansion", however, some of the white boxes do come very close to that definition. (Lonely Tree, IMHO, as I state in this video, is the cut-off for what I consider an expansion. I would call Green Armor a White Box at this point.) I do have some reviews of the current 12 expansions. I have done 5 of them at this point. The White Box content I discuss monthly, as it is received by other players and I can see the content. How and what a white box adds to the game.... well.... they vary in style and substance drastically. The kind of things you can see runs the gamut. Some add things to specific monsters, increasing the utility of that monster. Some add directly to the story you will experience. Others add nothing but abilities for your survivors to utilize. For the most part, 90% of the white box content I only recommend to those who are already invested in KDM (meaning they already have the 12 current expansions, and the future KS stuff) or to those who really want to paint the mini. That other 5 - 10 % are real diamonds in the rough and only appear once every year or so.

I'm sure this is said somewhere, but Green Armor costs more than $24 b/c you need the other expansions. Now, if you have all the expansions, then fine, but that cost needs to be a value, especially since you need your #11 expansion for the armor. It would be different if Lion God, Lonely Tree, etc. of the expansions you didn't need were lower on your list, meaning here you should buy these 6 expansions first, oh and since you did that, buy Green Armor now. Just like how Poots pitched CoD, if you have all 12 old expansions, then CoD was sort of a necessary thing to back.
This is a area where I go into it more in what you could call "the director cut" version of this conversation. The original conversation was nearly 2 and half hours. I spend more time talking about how Echoes of Death are $50 and offer about the same value as Green Armor. It was a case of "how much of this off topic stuff do I leave in this already long video" and unfortunately the lower expansions see the most cuts. I know I leave in me talking about the splashability of Green Armor, and how I enjoy just making Fetasourus and Griswaldo. This video was never meant to be a buyers guide, I made one of those about 4 months prior to this video. This was to give perspective of players who I know have played 10+ full campaigns. KDM is a very long game, taking months to complete. Most players get 2 or 3 campaigns in. I agree 100% with you cost assessment. Green Armor is never worth it unless you have everything. I make this point in my buying guide.

There’s some cool things, but don’t out weigh the bad. Imagine listening to a terrible album with one good song. Have to get thru the terrible album to get to that one good 4 min song. That’s what the 12 original expansions seem like.

The original 20-25 LY Campaign may not have ‘required’ Expansions, but to avoid fatigue with a 30 LY Campaign I would say the Dung Beetle Knight for late game is necessary, as well as the Lion Knight for its hybrid Armors and some variety. Otherwise, no Expansion is ‘necessary’. I’m interested to see how this ranking changes with Campaigns of Death.

I recently realised that you shouldnt be able to pull The Object Of Desire hunt event multiple times per campaign, you're meant to archive it for that campaign the first time it is drawn

Are the expansions a stand alone experience or they are linked to the main story
They are both! Some are their own campaigns and stories. Some expand people of the lantern. You will still need the main game.
