- Kingdom Death Monster Lantern Year 0 of my first settlement. This is episode of 1 of what I hope will be a complete play through. This is going to be a people of the lantern campaign. I will add other expansions to the game as I feel or get requested.
This is a fight against a level 1 white lion that uses a customer deck. Each prologue fight will use the same custom AI deck. The player always starts with the same four survivors. In this fight a mistake happens that causes insurance wounds. Will the survivors find their way to a settlement? This is the first video of what will need to be a two part episode. The settlement will follow very quickly.

17:38 Probably the funniest thing I've ever heard watching someone else play this game. Just the genuine laughter of disbelief following the words "Let's just not fail" and rolling a 1, it's one of my favorite things about Kingdom Death Monster.

That is awesome that you were able to get one of the reprints. It can be hard to get things from the shop as they are usually in limited supply. It is a great time to get into KDM, so much new stuff on its way! So many new faces will be brought in with the reprint and so many new gameplay expansions to look forward to. Hopefully, the reprints go out in May like everyone is hopeful for.
The videos are really good and get better as you fine tune them. It’s good to have someone go through everything over the course of an hour so folks can really pick up all the intricacies this game has. It’s one of the most confusing games I’ve ever played.

I came over here after seeing your reddit post earlier today, thank you for putting these videos together. I imagine these will help keep me more sane through the quarantine, along with my own solo campaign.
Also I realize this is over a month old, but a quick strategy note in here if you were interested, at the 31:50 point (two in blind spot, two out of range, lion's only card is Claw) you didn't need to get attacked that turn. Claw's second target clause doesn't specify in range, so if you kept the other two one space out of range the lion would have just moved to you without attacking while still being in range for everyone to hit him next turn. You did the same thing on the following turn too, moving into range when you could have stayed outside to not be attacked. Figured I would mention it as I feel like even before dash this comes up reasonably often to skip attacks on monsters that can move from their HL deck.
Great catch. You are correct I did not have to move into range of the attacks. My main concern was to make the lion move in a way so that he would not collide with the two survivors in the blind spot. I should have done what you suggested and moved up to draw the lion up while remaining out of attack range.
I know I'm late to the party, but while I wait to gather funds, and for another print run of the base game, I'm immersing myself into campaigns. I wish you great luck as I binge my way to the current episodes.

I place great value on those stones. Have to save them for very specific things. Gotta use them for very specific critical hits. Big plans for those down the line, no spoilers!
At minute 21 aprox, Myles gets 1 brain damage and it gets a brain trauma. Did I miss something or he was not hurt yet, so he should have just checked the brain wound box?

Sounds about right. KDM will do that to you.
Except he keeps moving his survivors into range so the lion can hit then rather than staying out of range so it can't reach anything xD
I love KDM and have just found your series. I plan on watching all of it, but I want to just preemptively thank you for going through this fun but stressful game for us. Are you strictly a youtuber, or are you on twitch or something as well for these?
I only play on UA-cam right now. I may play TableTop Sim KDM eventually as I really want to try some of the homebrew stuff in it. I have done live streams of Townsfolk Tussle and that was really fun. The amount of editing that I do is something that I could not replicate without extra help in a live stream.
Well if you ever start up a game on table top Sim and want to have other people play with you, I'm sure you can find some!
I'm really enjoying your videos. Question regarding brain trauma. Doesn't the first trauma get shaded in the box and any additional ones get rolled on the trauma table? 20:42
Correct! This is a mistake. Great catch. This is something I remember later on in the season.
How does FoV actually work? towards the end (32:00) could you have not move the boys forward and keep everyone out of the field of view of the lion? I s the blind spot really just those two squares immediately behind?
The blind spot really is just the spaces directly behind the monster. Every other spot on the board is in the monsters field of view. Some terrain may also block line of sight. When line of sight is interrupted by the terrain, those spaces are then not in field of view.
Near the end when the Lion ran to the edge of the board and you move him along, I believe this is incorrect it is only if the monster is already at the board edge and has to move would it go sideways across the board.
Great catch! You are correct, the monster should have stopped. If it would have needed to move again after this, then I would begin to move it along the edge. Thank you so much for the correction! There is so much going on in this game it is always good to get refreshers on the mistakes I make.
@@BraMithra in the heat of the game and if a little tilted it is easy to just forget stuff. Good job anyway for.my most recent game the level 1 white Lion went down easier than the prologue one
@@1986JJLEAK For sure! I am editing episode 5 right now and there is some major tilt blindness in that one. Forgetting to draw a resource on a critical hit after resolving a devastating reflex for starters. I also try to be mindful of the length of the episode, so that makes me go quick.
Are those names for your prologue survivors Brandon Sanderson references?
They are not, but what a happy coincidence!
Question: since you’re playing solo doesn’t the rules say you don’t use the monster controller rule?
I comment on this in a later episode. I stop rewarding the insanity and using the monster controller tile shortly after this episode. 1.5 does not account for solo play, the rules as written say that the horripilation dice replace the monster controller tile. This implies that without a monster controller tile you can not replace it with the horripilation dice. So I use the monster controller tile but do not use the rules associated with it. This what I can later replace it with the horripilation dice.
Okay gotcha. I’m new to the game and trying to learn all the ins and outs. Can’t wait to watch this whole play through.
Was the reason you didn't throw your founding stones is because they are more important than surviving the prologue as Myles kinda died?
Yes, founding stones can be used for some great things in the future. I like to save them if I can.
I don't want to be that guy, but naming the characters Rylee and Aurora feels too hopeful and thus jarring.
Give it time for the KDM stuff to start happening.
