MK7.5!!!! I am not sure about the MK8 just wait. Reserving my take until I get behind the wheel
actually no Digital Dash so its MK7 not the 7.5 reface.
@@sirphoenixknight3567 in Europe and maybe somewhere else this may be true for digital dash in the MK7.5, but for North America the MK7.5 GTI never got the digital dash... Only the R to the best of my knowledge.
@@sirphoenixknight3567 It's the mk 7.5 regardless. It doesn't change based on having a digital dash or not. It's got the 7.5 headlights and taillights and not the 7 headlights. Plus it's a 2020 model, anything that's 2018 or newer is by default a 7.5.
The Golf GTI has always been an iconic car! One of the best car of all times
They are nice but they have always had subtle sporty styling and i prefer my hot hatches to have big spoilers, side skirts, bonnet vents, big alloys etc. They also seem to often have less BHP then the competitors.
@@SecretOfMonkeyIsland784It’s better to be fast, than look fast. The Golf GTI doesn’t look fast, but is fast. That is the appeal for many and why it’s so successful.

I had a white 84 with the blue interior! Loved it!!!
I had a black 84 GTI, no power steering, mechanical fuel injection, sun roof, five speed. Drove it across the country, never should have sold it.

I've seen a bunch of reviews on the GTI, from the 2015 model all the way to the 2020. This was by far the best one I've seen. I plan on buying a 2020 s with the manual transmission this Saturday. I thought I was excited before your video, but now I'm even more stoked. Despite only getting two beans on the bean scale you seemed like you were having a blast in it :)
How is it going with the 2020 model? I am looking at one with 40k miles but I don’t know if I want to spend that much. May pick up a really well cared for 2015 wirh 90k miles

Sarah, the 3 door no question. I had a 1983 off the showroom floor no radio, no air conditioning, no sunroof. You could go into a corner and raise the rear tire of the pavement all day. That's 5 cookies in my life. Great review 👍👍👍
I bought a new GTI SE in 2018. I installed a neuspeed power module, and my car now makes ~ 250hp.
Fit and finish of my car is superb. The ride is perfect.
Next to my Miata, this is the most perfect and well-balanced car I have owned.
I enjoy your reviews, Sarah. My 2016 GTI was the best little car! I had it tuned stage 2 APR and it was insanely fun and practical. The Veloster is not even in the running. The quality of that little VW is leagues above Hyundai. It is 101 intelligent little things designed into the VW that make it so special. Like the fog light access doors you noticed. You can get that base 6 spd. (What I had) for way less than 30K. Closer to 20. If you’re in that segment looking, drive one.

I got a 2019 GTI 6 MT in pure white and I love it. I would definitely go for a MK7.5 over the 8.
'19 Autobahn 6MT in White Silver. I would buy this car 10 times over.

HI! I've recently found your channel while watching some car reviews before making my mind about what to buy, and I've already binged a few of your videos, they are really fun and entertaining to watch. Really love your enthusiasm and passion for cars, ingineering, technology, comedy, etc.
I think this video is one of the funniest, could be the fact that the GTI was (is?) my favorite hot hatch, but also this reminded me of those MKV GTI commercials with Mr. Peter Stormare, if you seen them.
Had a 3-door 2008 GTI for five years, and now have a 5-door 2017 GTI. The 3-door had the classic look, but the 5-door seems more useful. Both have been great cars with no issues.

@11:35 Favorite moment! The focused look in your face. And Great job on the video! Also a cheat code is to hold down the traction control button for 5 seconds. This puts it into old school mode. Not recommended. I only use this mode for e-brake turns or reverse 180's.
Owned 2 and like you I prefer the 3 door. My 1980 was one of my favorite cars.

Just paid my deposit for a 2022 GTI S series 6 speed manual. Glad I waited! Increased hp and torque plus I get to keep a volume and tuning knob.

I've seen the mk8 in person. The interior is a massive upgrade but the exterior is a no go from me
Lɪʟ ᴄʜᴏᴘᴘᴀ Yes exactly and the mk8 has an identical engine to the mk7 with the same IS20 turbo. So they’ll both make the same exact power stage 2 anyway. Mk8 will only be marginally faster stock.
I loved my 5 door 2017, very good car, especially fun with a JB4 added. I hated the USB-WTF too, so I plugged in a cig to usb into the center console, there is one under the lid also. Swapped the halogens for LED.
Stock tires are not great, only bad thing I could say.

I got a '16 Golf S about a year ago. It's a blast to drive! It is the 1.8 automatic instead of manual or DSG, but it is a good auto. The Mk 7 Golf/GTI is a wonderful car.
It was originally marketed as 170 hp and 186 tq, but the 1.8 has been shown to put out 170 hp and 199 tq at the wheels. It's a great engine - and I'd love to do a stage 1 APR tune to really wake it up.
Head light’s are your best friend if it’s dark and you have to drive somewhere. Great review!

3 door or forget it. Being tall and sitting back from the wheel your vision is blocked by the B-Pillar. Plus a 3 door Is just cooler than a 5 door micro-minivan.
I just bought an SE trim and LOVE it. Fantastic daily driver
Great video, a few things to nick pick on, the cover for the fog lights is just to inspect or disconnect the fog light housing, if one goes out you need to change the whole unit. Also the starting price is around 26k, you can get very well equipped SE for 29k. Love the seats on the S though, I had 15 MK7 and it was putting down 320 to the wheels with minimal mods , sold it almost new 4 years later but it was one of my favorite cars, lots of fun in that car

I don't know... Even if the Golf GTI will always be the OG, in Europe the Megane RS gives it a run for its money. And the segment in crowded with good propositions... Focus ST, Leon Cupra, I30 N, S3, 308 Gti, Civic Type R etc...

Took a GTI Rabbit for a test drive, and a Veloster. I liked the GTI, but found the Veloster was more comfortable. It had a lower sitting position, but also more leg room for my tall wife. She's 6'1", but the Veloster was great for space while the GTI was a little small. And that 3rd door was perfect for our dog :)
