I like how the Blondie members interrupt the interview not once, but twice. First to call Jerry a fucking liar, and second to call him a wine snob.
Haha, they were pretty shit faced however, you can see in Jerry's reaction that its all in good fun since they go waaaaay back. Legends.
I liked the affection that Debbie , Chris and especially Clem have for Gerald !!!
Jerry is one of the most interesting people in RnR

This is The classic video that Exposed The Deep State And Don't Roof Rack Me Bro DEVO, A Tribute to Mitt Romney s Irish Setter dog 🐕 Semus
This right here is enough to prove that devo belongs in the rock and roll hall of fame and this is just one interview from one member!
Blondie paying respect, That was so righteous.
I _knew_ he was gonna say Bob 1. After all, he traded his blue cloud guitar for some cocaine.
Happy ending: a fan came across it and returned it to Bob.
I would have expected this from any of the Devo guys, but it's... unusual to hear such colorful rock life stories told so matter of factly with any hint of a bragging or embellishing tone.
If I’d been booed off the stage at Knebworth you can bet I’d be bragging about it!
Dead boys STiL dEaD ; )
I was at that Houston show at the Cullen Auditorium in ‘82. Rumor has it that some rich kid judge’s son with law enforcement connections went to the lobby to piss or something, and then couldn’t get back inside because it was so packed in there, so he called the HPD and the Fire Dept to bust up the show. He probably just had his panties in a bunch because they wouldn’t play ‘Whip It’ over and over. It was very confusing, because yes... as Gerry pointed out, the cops were backstage, or side-stage or whatever... and none of us could see them, so we had no idea what was really going on. It was hot as fuck in there and overcrowded. However, all those “fuck you’s”, as I recall, weren’t being directed at DEVO. We were telling security to fuck off, because they cut the lights and were yelling at us that the gig was cancelled and we were all going to have to go home. The crowd was already pretty amped up, and when they pulled Gerry off the stage a riot almost broke out, and then when we got outside we saw all the cop cars and fire trucks. The next day it was on the news - “DEVO arrested for overbooking show”, and one of the local papers even had a picture of DEVO in shackles.
Also, Cullen Auditorium gigs in those days were notorious for being overbooked. Saw some great shows there.
If Debbie Harry gave me a bottle pf wine, I would take it home, have a special display for it where I would keep it forever.
Now its vinegar
you're an idiot. you leave the wine...and run off with debbie.

I went to the tour "New Traditionalists" tour in 1981 in DFW and there was treadmills and even choreography to. I was a freshman in high school.
what self respecting nerds have this much fun
I was at that Radio City show in '81! Halloween Night. One of my top 5 all-time favorite concerts ever.
@@jackshittle The audio is ! Top quality !
Midnight show and got back to CT at 4am!
I remember the Radio City show-- it was an odd sensation to see all the folks dressed in Devo costumes at the bus station, in the subway, etc., on their way to the gig...
But pretty awesome all the same ;D
Wish I could have been there but I was a West coast kid. I got to spend New Year's Eve 1980 at Perkins Palace in Pasadena with the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo though. That was a great show too.
as soon as he said bob mothersbaugh (and himself) as the partyers, i though "bob=cocaine". then he says "involving cocaine and wine... ". bob1 traded his guitar for some cocaine.
i don't do drugs, but i love the smell of cocaine.
btw, 5 points? stupid.
A genuine guy, class act.
Saw Devo in 1980 at Perth Entertainment Centre! To this day still remember how bloody great they were!!!!!!!!!!
1982
I was at the Houston show he is talking bout... Cullen auditorium University of Houston Campus.
Amazing show they were really on it that night, crowd was very rowdy great music and good times!
I was there too. There were so many bodies in there and it was so damn hot that you could literally see a cloud of steam forming over the crowd. Remember the rumor about some judge’s son calling the cops to come shut down the show, all because he went outside and couldn’t get back in?
I gave MARK and their road manager a ride in Philly...I don't think we freaked them out as much as being OUTFREAKED by having MARK in my car !
The big American southern band.....Kansas? If so, I would have been in heaven as I love Devo and Kansas.....and Genesis! BTW, this is a great interview!
Cool video, great band, gotta love anytime Debbie gets in the frame she's so photogenic...DEVO really was one of the coolest art rock bands ever
I love Midnight Dixie Runners!
Devo, they had a sound like no other, they had a look and played really tight. I love d e v o. spud heads 2017
You can actually watch a full Blondie concert and a full Devo concert on our UA-cam channel under the Rock and Electro collections!
!!!!! I was at that 1981 show; Halloween @ Radio City Music Hall!
Legends & visionaries!!!!
Jerry Casale the legend👊
Two of my favourite bands. Lovely! These aren't the first amusing tales from the road I've seen Gerald tell!
great clip, Devo and Blondie should get together and make some tracks :p
Blondie needs to cover Gates of Steel!
Debbie sang Come Back Jonee with DEVO a few times.
Jerry was a good sport, though somewhat (understandably) annoyed by the intrusive antics of Blondie…
Another great GC interview. Damn Jerry, you’ve got the BEST HAIR!!!
Clem Burke plays Premier drums. Very well, thank you. Devo is real.
SOMEWHERE IN THERE LIES THE TRUTH
When Debbie Harry brings you a bottle of vino you must've done something right in your career.
That's cool, I saw the Blondie/Devo tour and it was awesome!
What year did they tour together? I got to see Blondie once, at Hollywood Bowl I think.
@@carmensandiego7749 2012, I believe
Devo have been going for about 45 years, so yeah, he has some stories!!!!
What is Media? your soaking in it.
Too cool ....Blonde percussion at 3.33 ....hellos
Genesis and Journey stole ideas from DEVO in the 1980 s
With their albums sounding more Technical
Great interview 🤖
Love these ROCKERS!!!
If I see Chris Stein flashing that cliched devil's hand-sign one more time...
Duff Baker. 😨
Oh calm down..it's his thing..lol
You’re gonna beat him up?

It's funny to see clemmy ramone acting all punkish 30 years after the fact.
Clemmy Ramone?
Clem Burke
When he tried and failed drumming for the ramones after they fired Marky.
ah...I did not know that. How could he fail at drumming? He's an awesome drummer.
He must have failed at being Ramone-like
Lol, actually, he was known as "Elvis Ramone". I wish more of that story was known. Johnny said it was Clem's playing, but like Olaf said, he is great. They only gave him a few days to prepare for his first gig with them, I would think it would take more time than that to develop stamina for their live show (it's physically, though not at all technically, challenging). I have to guess it was about money. They would have to pay Clem more than they would like to pay their drummer, perhaps.
Johnny said they had to part with "Elvis" because he couldn't keep up. Clem said it was the hardest he'd ever worked and was exhausted after the show. So, they called Marky who, luckily, had cleaned up his act and was ready to rock.
Sad to see ya go! xxxxx
Should believe any word he said?
Fuck yeah Smart patrol!!!!
Never heard of any of these bands aside from Devo.
That was excellent.
so what happened after they threw him in with the thugs and woke them all up???
Well, according to one account, the guards repeatedly asked the band to sing "Whip It" loudly all night long. The thugs didn't like that too much. There's actually an interview with Mark that was done the next day for a Houston TV station. It's here on UA-cam, search around for it.
Who really knows? All I know is that Houston was a really scary city back in those days. On any given night if you were in the holding tank, you were going to be amongst some serious psychos, thugs, and violent creeps. The cops back then weren’t much different than the criminals. I was at that show, and once we heard that they were actually in jail and being booked... we knew it was going to be bad. I guess nothing serious happened. Just a lot of harassment and no sleep. The fucked part is that apparently the whole reason the cops even showed up, is because some rich kid judge’s son had daddy call in the calvalry... all because he got up to piss and couldn’t get back into the show.
Chris Nemec - Are you referring to that ‘82 interview he gave with Showtime, where he mainly talks about the Church of the Sub-Genius and it’s ‘god’... Bob? I think that interview was actually conducted in Dallas (where the CoTSG is based), shortly after their Houston jail fracas... but he never discusses what actually happened that night in the HPD holding tank.
I love her
Dixie midnight runners? Shame on you Jerry, shame!!!
I live n Perth,,,awesome vid
Was that you who roofied Gerry and dumped him off on the beach?
sono inglesi? sassoni o normanni?
Justin Bieber is the Devo of today
Troll no food for you
If you mean that he’s a prime example of de-evolution become reality... then yes.
Bullshit....he's a jerk.....and he's not Jerkin' Back and Forth like Devo either.....just jerkin' off.
