So glad I bought a devo's greatest hits album 3 years ago, took a risk buying it only knowing the song whip it. One of the best music decisions I've ever made.
Mark is adorable! I saw them play the Coach House in 1989. Really small venue. Seen them 6 or 7 times since, most recently 9/25/21 at the UA-cam Theater in LA. LOVE DEVO!!!!
I was 12 when I saw them the first time. It was my first concert. New Traditionalist tour. Amazing live show, Mark gives 120% at every performance back then. Now he just does 105% because he's understandably an older fellow. But when he got up on stage with Massive Hot Dog Recall last weekend he was belting it out pretty good.
I met the band and got my Duty Now album signed by them back in 1980 or so. It was a promotion at a record store, and there were maybe ten people there! Crazy quiet. I still have the vinyl!
I played music and was also a promoter back in the day, and l hired Devo and met you mark we did two shows a night for three days Raincross Square Riverside California, incredible great time the girl got onstage not your lights over we had to call the last night off boy did they are at outside of the Arena at night the people did not get in to see the last show
Funny how they never talk about the National Guard shootings at the campus of Kent State .. Or Going to Germany to record in Brian Eno's studio at the behest of David Bowie .. Devo has always stood on their own merit and #blessed am I to have experienced full blown DEVO. great fucking band.
Amazing how Mark's head looks more darwinianly evolved than most humans, even though Devo's theory, sorry, truth, is not related to Darwin's theory, to me Mark is a genius
Things still look grave, it's just no one is looking at them, they're all looking at the screens of said iphones... Bread & circuses has reached a whole new level.

The album "Oh No It's Devo" is a greatest hits album in of itself. Produced by one of the best rock/pop producers of all time...Not Brian Eno.
@@JasonJayJJ1 Fully agree. fantastic album, unjustly maligned and denigrated. Recommended without reservations!
Maybe you are ready for the Devo Hardcore vol. 1-2 album !
You are such a risk taker!
@@JasonJayJJ1 Yep. My favorite Devo album.
Such a genuinely beautiful creative man. Being a graphic designer too it's no wonder I loved their sound, lyrics and look.

LOVE DEVO!!!!
him fripp, emerson and metheny are my influences
My God, his definition of devolution was 100% correct all along.
Gentle genius, thank you for writing the score of my youth...
Mark is too cute
I had an incredible time pure genius
I love that hat he's wearing
The thing I like about DEVO is that they really know their de-evolution.
I remember listening to "shrivel Up" in 1978 with friends and just laughing, they were crazy and totally unique
So cute 💜

Love it!
Very likable fella.
Great interview, thanks spud!
how can someone be so cool and so nerdy at the same time......a walking contradiction....
The Talking Heads had that vibe as well...
how is cool & nerdy a contradiction? the hell?
Nerds are the smart ones who change the world
@@Chordonblue talking heads was just imitating these guys

"Ronald Reagan and Ronald McDonald" I died. Love him.
TRUE WHEN U THINK ABOUT IT AND RONALD RHYMES WITH DONALD.....BOTH CLOWNS. THAT WEREN'T AND AREN'T ....N I C E
The talk of them having just done the Total Devo tour probably places this at February 1989? I think
Wow, I've never seen this before!
I bet a hundred bucks that half of the views on this video are from me.

Yes. The humour.

Really I heard An interview today where they did. Can't back up what you say???
Would have loved to have seen General Boy make an appearance, à la "Patton", with the big American flag in the background as he spoke of de-evolution.
Switched on guy!

In the still you used for this video, he looks like a young Karl Malden.
...but without the nose.
Why is life around us falling apart, but since we have the new iphone, then things around us don't look so grave anymore...
Can you say that now, in 2020? With our cities on fire, a killer virus, and political chaos?
Things still look grave, it's just no one is looking at them, they're all looking at the screens of said iphones... Bread & circuses has reached a whole new level.
He was correct about technology.
👍
Sims 2 anyone?
Was that his Michael Stipe REM look?
This was three years before Stipe started sporting this look
Best and nicest interview with Mark I've seen.
...he pronounced irony weird
eerony
I feel like Mark and I wouldn't be friends.
He's a bit too much to the left, siding with several fascist politicians. Too bad, I like their material.
@@guymontag9577 Me too. Love the music, not into their politics.
@@The_OneManCrowd And comments like “Love the music, not into their politics” just prove de-evolution is real.
@@The_OneManCrowd The music and politics are kind of inseparable. It’s a political art band for gods sake
RONALD REAGAN WAS RONALD MCDONALD TO ME ALSO LOL
mike perone was right
WRONG--- "debu" means fat, not "debo". デブというのは太った人ですね。"チビ、デブ、ブス“ means "devolved America".....
*the DE-EVOLUTION begins HERE*
im viewer 666!!! HAIL DEVO
