  • Tara Brach on Embodied Presence [Part 2] - Planting our Roots in the Universe [2020-02-05]
In describing our human predicament and dis-ease, D.H. Lawrence says we are like a great tree with our roots in the air. We need to replant ourselves-in our bodies, hearts and spirit. These two talks are guides to replanting ourselves.
In Part 1, we explore how we are so often dissociated from the life of our body, and the pathways home. Part 2 looks at the challenges of pain, fear and trauma, and how we can gradually and skillfully reconnect with a wholeness of being.

Tara, thank you for your most precious talks. They help me more than any in-person therapy I have ever had. May I please ask you to do more talks on the state of our country and the awful suffering that our leaders are causing around the world to humans, animals and the planet? I am really struggling with extreme anger and (dare I admit) hatred. I have decided to end my relationships with friends and family who support trump. I can't even be in their presence without feeling sick to my stomach. My dad is one of them. I am afraid I have become part of the problem of division and have been largely unsuccessful at controlling my incredibly intense emotions about this. :(

This is a great talk. I’ve practiced this in my own life but can sometimes forget and this was a nice reminder. Thank you.

During this time of Lent in the Christian tradition, we focus on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, as the Tradition goes. We can bring these concepts into wider focus as loving kindness, denial of attachments, and gratefulness to ourselves, our God, and our neighbor. In that way, we are firmly planting our roots in a grounded, secure and spiritually healthy foundation. Namaste. Now is the time to consent and surrender to the divine presence in all of creation.🙏
