I kinda appreciate this style of tutorial, just throw everything at you to make these cool but basic shapes, so that you have to figure a little bit out yourself but actually remember it all and will know those tools for use elsewhere

No no no, unfinished. The final version of the spiraled objects has the beams' top faces completely flat/leveled. The ones you did before aren't :P
thats easy just select the faces and scale on z axis by 0
