I was in my 20's when this song came out, back then, you could only hear the first few introductory notes, and because of its style, you knew who it was and BJ Thomas was no exception..I've always been "hooked on a feeling"with him. Thank you for liking him too! The younger generation are starting to look to my generation for good quality deverse music, and frankly I think it's about time!
One of my all time fave singers, and those devastatingly beautiful eyes! There is another version that is good from the one hit wonders called Blue Swede
A very good song. I will put one of my earbuds near my cat's ear. I get different reactions from her. This song she sat and listened to it with her eyes half shut. Lol Even animals like his voice.
I'm So Lonesone I Could Cry I Just Can't Help Believin' Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song BJ Thomas has such a beautiful voice. I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry I think, show cases his voice and the great ability he has to capture you, hook, line and sinker. Amazing hits. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Brandon. Another winner. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Yes!!!! His live rendition of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" ...performed in front of country music royalty is indeed a must watch!! My favorite song by BJ is "I Just Can't Help Believin" perfect tune for his practically perfect voice. Also, he is/was a fellow Houstonian. RIP, BJ....your contribution to music and humanity is greatly missed.
Written by Mark James who wrote Suspicious Minds and Always On My Mind for Elvis. James was coincidentally childhood friends with Thomas so it was fortuitous that Thomas was the first to record Hooked On A Feeling. A few years later, Blue Swede added "ooga chakka" to the song and had a #1 international hit. LOL.
Don't think he ever had a bad song. My favorite is I'm so lonesome I could cry. He did this song for his dad. Billy and Sue, Mama, and Plain Jane were favorites too. Pop, Rock, Country, Gospel, and Christmas, he had hits in them all. A great Singer, and sadly missed.
B J Thomas had a lot of great songs in the 60's-80's. He is best known for "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" from the 1969 movie "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid". But he had a lot of other great songs such as "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song", "Don't Worry Baby", "No Love At All", "Mighty Clouds Of Joy", "The Eyes Of A New York Woman", "Rock & Roll Lullaby" etc. Sadly he passed away last year.
He was so extremely special, such a gorgeous voice. Loved growing up with him. And he was gorgeous. Also listen to him singing I'm so lonesome I could cry.
Thank You Harri ,B. J Thomas had a beautiful voice a lot of great hits, Hatti hope you don't mind when I comment i usually mention a song like the one you play or from that Era I don't expect you to play them , just something you might like in your spare time ,now that I said that, lol.a Great song same Era is called ** The Games People Play** by Joe South.ok Thanks Harri, Somebody's Birthday pretty Soon,😊🎂
He had such a fabulous vocal ability and this was one of his best. But I also loved The Eyes Of A New York Woman, Billy And Sue, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, I Just Can't Help Believing... Electric sitar, guitar programmed to have that sitar type sound, used in a lot of records in late 60s.
Totally agree a very very good singer I'm My favorite is I'm so Lonesome I could Cry. The Eyes of a New York Woman was very similar to Hooked on a Feeling, believe it followed after that. Had more nice songs. Sadly he passed recently. RIP, God bless!
That electric sitar is CLASSIC! You were hooked by it before B. J. even started singing, and once he did, all you could do was listen all the way through. A beautifully arranged and produced song. Simple, but memorable instrumental break. The sixties had classic songs and also classic records.
Love B.J.Thomas! Raindrops... is from the movie Butch Cassidy, one of my favorites (the song and the movie,😄). "Oh me oh my" and "Songs" are great too!
Great reaction, Harri! I got to see him live about a foot away when I was 16 & had a major crush on him! His beautiful eyes would pierce right through you! You always know who it is the moment you hear him! He was a beautiful man inside & out! RIP B J Thomas!😊
Big BJ fan. His Christian LPs were fantastic. Love this man's voice. Thanks Harri! "I've got a Feeling" next? Or "Another Somebody done Somebody Wrong"?
My daughter's favorite growing up was Rain drops keep falling on my head and even had a music box that played it. She is 53 now and will still giggle over that song, lol. I have a CD of B J's songs. Such a talented performer!
BJ Thomas, Boz Scaggs and Robert Palmer are my 3 favorite artists from my lifetime. Love Andrea Bocelli as well. They have distinctive voices, and no one else sounds like them.
Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head is another big hit of his that was in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid movie with Newman and Redford. He was very nice looking back in the day with blue eyes and thick black hair, got to see him in concert in the 70s in college. Kinda like Neil Diamond, Engelbert Humperdinck, Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka, Johnny Rivers, Ricky Nelson, etc.
Sadly BJ Thomas is gone now but this was one of the best songs out there at the time. Blue Suede did another version of it but it was not very good because they put their own twist on the song. The instrument you hear in the background is the metal guitar which was being played by BJ Thomas.
BJ passed away last year...he was one of my favorites for decades. Two of his best: "[Hey, Won't You Play] Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" LIVE ua-cam.com/video/sPXpgz-HgF0/v-deo.html "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" LIVE ua-cam.com/video/fwBPY16UrKU/v-deo.html
harri continues to play the soundtrack of my youth. if you want the REAL oldies replayed with reactions worth watching this is the place to be. way to keep the memories flowing my man.
RIP sir. I so love his music. I probably wore out a dozen of this and Raindrops 45's lol. Please please please review Teddy Swims 'Simple Things'... the man is incredible voice... lots of videos... Hes amazing!
I echo the thoughts of Debra Martin concerning "So Lonesome I Could Cry", a cover of a Hank Williams song. It was actually supposed to be the B side of a 45, but it ended up as the hit and launched his career in a big way.
You're the first to comment on the fantastic guitar playing on these original versions. I too thought it was a sitar until I saw a live version where it was played on a classic Fender Stratocaster. The other live show it was a Rickenbacker It has an effects sound added and THAT is what I wanted to find out. What was it? It added string resonance. I don't think an Octoplus effect box was available back then. I've always been mesmerized by the sound! Anyone know, please comment.
Despite his obvious talent, he was always eclipsed here in UK. Jonathan King had the hit with this song, Sacha Distel with Raindrops, & Elvis with Just can't help believin. A shame, because, as you rightly say, he had a great voice.
At 2:34 , when you said "most of all", you didn't even realize you were naming another B.J. Thomas hit -- "Most Of All". One time I saw him in concert, he almost sang that whole song toward me, but I was sitting next to his fan club president so I'm sure he was singing it toward her. Missed it by that much ..... >wink
Blue Swede did a much better version. As you mentioned, Thomas sang Raindrops keep Fallin on my Head from the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. He also sang I Just Can't Help Believing which Elvis later covered.
The original and by far the best version with BJ’s pure voice!
In the UK,there was a cover by Jonathon King,a convicted nonce, and he murdered it.

Another spectacular voice from the 70's. Simply otherwordly voice.
One of my all time fave singers, and those devastatingly beautiful eyes! There is another version that is good from the one hit wonders called Blue Swede
He had one of the best voices in his day!
In his day as well as now and in the future. B.J.'s voice cannot be confined to one era.
@@timcarr6401 Absolutely!
'RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD' garnered the movie by the title of -"BUTCH CASSIDY & the SUNDANCE KID" back in the early '60's.
One of the best voices in his day…
As well as today
His rendition of So Lonesome I Could Cry is fantastic! Just Sayin..
@@debramartin1583 Yes yes yes
One of the greatest singers ever. The Eyes of a New York Woman is similar to this in 68 is great as this.
(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song next please!!
I flashed back to 1968, the year I graduated High School.
“I Just Can’t Help Believing” is another BJ Thomas
"Mighty clouds of joy"
A very good song. I will put one of my earbuds near my cat's ear. I get different reactions from her. This song she sat and listened to it with her eyes half shut. Lol Even animals like his voice.
As featured in the movie GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, great song great singer, well done Harri.

Alsoooo, I Just Can't Help Believing is another chill bump song...
My favorites are "I Just Cant Help Believin" and "I'm so Lonesome I could Cry" Love BJ Thomas! Just lost him last year. Will be greatly missed.
A stark contrast to Blue Swede's version. BJ was one of my first little girl crushes...the other was Herb Alpert.
I had a little girl crush on him as well! 💗
Rock and Roll Lullaby is my fav of his.
"Eyes of a New York, Woman--- So Lonesome I Could Cry " -- Rock and Roll Lullaby-are all great- --he passed a couple of years ago -at 73
Great songs, Patriot. My two favourites are Most of All and I Just Can't Help Believin'.
I'm So Lonesone I Could Cry
I Just Can't Help Believin'
Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song

The performance from Country Road TV?
This make me want to go back to being a kid in the 70's. So nostalgic. Great reaction Hari!
Great song ! You should check out the version by Blue Swede which has a more of a rock feel, also very good.
Thats crap, bj is far better.
Written by Mark James who wrote Suspicious Minds and Always On My Mind for Elvis. Great request Brandon. Great analysis Harri. Listen to Rock n Roll Lullaby
I have rock n roll lullaby on my list for future requests likely in November. Next month my requests will be songs that mention candy for Halloween.
