He was a wonderful singer. His voice was amazing. But most important he was a wonderful person. I remember him taking his kids to school in his robe. So sweet. R.I.P. sweet man. You are loved and missed. Thanks for the music!❤
Nashville Now always featured a great band.
B J Thomas had a lot of great songs in the 60's-80's. He is best known for "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" from the 1969 movie "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid". But he had a lot of other great songs such as "Hooked On A Feeling", "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song", "Don't Worry Baby", "No Love At All", "Mighty Clouds Of Joy", "The Eyes Of A New York Woman", "Rock & Roll Lullaby" etc. Sadly he passed away last year.
I Believe In Music is also a great one
Don’t forget “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”!
@@carolynmorrissey1630 Written by Mac Davis, was made a hit by Gallery in 1972.
Don't Worry Baby was a Beach Boys remake, to be clear.
@@thomastimlin1724 Yes, The Beach Boys did the original in 1964.
Love BJ Thomas. What a voice!
BJ was a huge star in the late 60s and 70s. We lost him less than a year ago. Great talent in both the country western genre and pop rock. Beautiful voice.
Incredible voice. My two fave songs are "Rock n Roll Lullaby" and "Most of All".
BJ had some great and legendary songs. This is one of them. Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head and Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song are great too. Great reaction Harri. Nice pick Brandon Watts.
Don't forget, his version of hooked on a feeling
B.J. died almost nine months ago aged 78. I grieved as much for him as I did for Elvis. He had an unreal voice. One of my many BJ. favorites is "Mighty Clouds Of Joy." B.J. filled in concert dates for the deceased Elvis.
You need to listen to , Rock and Roll lullabye, georgous song , georgous voice
RIP B.J.Thomas. His voice was phenomenal!
Love BJ Thomas! So many great songs!
Saw BJ Thomas in concert back in 1978 and it was a great concert. What a singer!
Love"the eyes of a New York woman"by BJ Thomas.
No doubt Harri - you have the best requesters on the net. Here's another example.
I love his, "Rock and Roll Lullaby."
I'm so Lonesome I could cry is a must. He sings it beautifully
Mr. Thomas also covered a song written by a Christian artist named Pat Terry. The song was call HOME WERE I BELONG!
This is live and he sounds so much like the studio version, great voice
BJ was a great voice and singer. His first was a Hank Williams song, I'm so lonesome I could cry. No one does it better. He was the first singer to have a gospel album go PLatinum. This version is very close to the radio version. You would enjoy more of him. He and ELvis were friends.
He did a great job on I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry. So does Gary Morris.
Gotta love B.J.
So many great songs!!
BJ Thomas penned many great songs my favorite is "Raindrops keep falling on my head" My mom & dad would play that record and my sister and I would dance together like little fools
I always loved B.J Thomas
I Believe In Music is a great one
I also loved BJ's gospel albums. He had a deep faith in the Lord.
"Raindrops are falling" & later "Everybody loves a Rain song."
He also did the original version of "Hooked On A Feellin'" as well as the huge hit "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"
Hooked on a Feelin', God I hated that other version in 1974 "Ooga chucka" crap, made me want to "Ups Chucka."
Wow! Takes me right back to when Elvis Sang 🤎
Absolutely love B.J.s voice. The dimples are an asset.
Hello, Harri. What a wonderful song to explore! BJ Thomas was big for his time but he's since become almost forgotten since then but, man, he made some beautiful music. An amazing talent.
A basic rule of thumb about Elvis' releases - pretty much anything released after his movies petered out is a cover. Certainly, this is absolutely true for everything from about 1968 onward. It's also true that, for the most part, there's always a version that is better than his. He never wrote anything so depended on material he could get from elsewhere. His best stretch was when Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller were writing for him back in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
B J Thomas is amazing!!
Another golden voice from the 60s and the 70s, back, when you know, voices mattered.
Great Singer. Loved Him in concert.
I always have enjoyed this singer, especially Raindrops are Falling on my Head.
Thomas wrote _ it's only love _ for Elvis. It reached #3 on the charts.
BJ lived next door to my Dad in the 60's it was great music all the time.
I love his voice too!
I love this song by him, BJ Thomas ♥
He kept his voice into his 70s. No one like him. He could sing anything. Plus by all accounts he was a lovely man.
I've seen him live a few times and he never let me down. I love his version of "Hooked on a feeling" and really just about everything he does . RIP. Great choice Brandon and Harri.
One of his best songs is Lonesome I Could Cry ..it is not to be missed. RIP...you are missed
It's hard for me to choose. I like B.J. Thomas big fan, but Elvis is always my favorite. They both did a knock out on the song. R.I.P. B.J. and Elvis.
Fun fact on this song... It was written by Barry Mann. He sang the song "who put the bomp" in the bomp shi bomp shi bomp.
One of my favorite voices in music. Checkout one of his other hits, "Rock and Roll Lullaby".
A beautiful ballad.....
We lost him in 2021. He sang so effortlessly. Great analysis Harri.
He passed on the same day as Helen Reddy, who recorded his song I Believe in Music - both were 78
Listen to his song I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry.
Absolutely agree
No mistaking his voice. So smooth and unique. He also put out some great gospel/Christian LPs. Great song choice, Harri!
BJ Thomas had a big hit with this song. I haven’t heard the other people do it but I’m good because I love this guy’s voice. Nice pick🌺✌️
Have lived BJ for many years. Back to when I was a teen!
The man could definitely sing and great at working the mic for tones !
Any song BJ sang became his. His alone. Lots of people do covers but they will always be BJ’s song. My sis and Mom saw him in concert singing outdoors she still talks about it all these years later.
I think BJ Thomas was a better singer than Elvis. I saw him at an outdoor concert as well and hewas fantastic.
I saw him live on a trip to Alexandria Louisiana in 1975.
Great voice, very underrated.
Got to see him in concert, he looks kinda skinny here, more than normal, and he had quite a few hits, mostly Raindrops song that was used in a movie, but yeah, was not so bad on the eyes either for us gals. ;-)
This is probably my favorite version
I think BJ had a better voice and style.
Country singer Ronnie McDowell sounded a lot like Elvis too. Some of his songs are "The King is Gone", "Watchin' Girls Go By", "You're Going To Ruin My Bad Reputation", "Older Women Make Good Lovers", "In A New York Minute" and so many more.
The man that introduced B.J. on this video was Ralph Emory. He was known as the "Johnny Carson" of country music. He died a few weeks ago.
RIP BJ.
Mr. Brandon the big ole mushball...lol! No seriously, this is an excellent request my man. BJ with his excellent catalog of great music. Remember hearing "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" in the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid soundtrack years ago. Great Robert Redford and Paul Newman movie from 1969. Great pick Brandon, and keep them coming dude. Nice react from or good fella Harri! Easy song to enjoy!
Just seeing this. He looked so bad here, I think this was after his bad bout with drugs. He was such a beautiful man, so sad he went through so much.
ELVIS version is phenomenal and unreal. Cant compare. Elvis Presley is the 8th wonder of the world!!!
The original released recording was by Barry Mann, husband of co-writer Cynthia Weil in 1968. It is gentler with a acoustic folky feel. The massive Elvis 'Live in Vegas' hit took the arrangement of the Thomas version, added steroids and the break to silence part in the middle.
Great singer, G R E A T singer. Check out The Eyes Of A New York Woman and Hooked On A Feeling to hear his best, oh yeah also I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry from way back...
I think BJ was a better singer than Elvis.
Thanks for the explanation of why you sometimes pick the "wrong" version of a song. You were right to point your finger at us at 2:08, laughing at how we give you a hard time about it ("yes you do!"). But your answer makes perfect sense -- you want your reaction to be absolutely fresh the first time you hear it, which it always is (and which is why we keep watching).
His original was the best. I love it more.
BJ just died a few weeks ago…..excellent singer…..great guy.
💝💐! I am a heartbroken 16 year-old again....
BJ had a most recognizable pleasant voice, one of those you instantly knew it was him on the radio, and you would turn up the volume. Save embarrassment, before you listen to a song, look it up and find out if someone else did it first. I always considered him an all around singer, not specifically a "country singer" ...just because he did some country type songs people wanted to categorize him in a neat little box in their brain to file away and feel comfortable with, just like Glen Campbell, who could sing anything, even played for the Beach Boys recordings, and sang and played bass on a tour with them...not exactly country music eh? When you appeal to the general public as a singer, you are not in a specific category in my book. Elvis sang everything...so did Nat King Cole in his day.
This isn't too bad of a version, Harri - a lot of those older TV shows, music-variety specials, etc., insisted on good sound. I think most of us just hate it when a live version bares little resemblance to the original. I think you need a dose of Englebert Humperdink "After The Lovin'"
Harri, here is a link to Pink Floyd's last "original member" reunion. It's 24 minutes, but all wonderful. Brings a tear to my eye knowing this is the last show. ua-cam.com/video/ikDEHygZzlI/v-deo.html I'll let you read about the tensions in the band. "No More Excuses"
More of his songs: Most of All ua-cam.com/video/KdGy5I58ih8/v-deo.html -- Rock N Roll Lullaby ua-cam.com/video/Kq_Sl9G28EM/v-deo.html and one more Mama ua-cam.com/video/uenljOw8_Bc/v-deo.html BJ Thomas has such a beautiful voice and very easy on the eyes. lol
We lost B J in 2022
Harri, this is the wrong version! LOL
Links matter. lol
You thought it was Elvis because he did a cover of it.
Maybe you need a linker person Harri. B J Thomas had a very unique voice.
What Dagmar said! BJ has a very unique voice! Thanks Harri! A favorite of mine is “ Whatever happened to old fashioned love!” m.ua-cam.com/video/nN2L7mpQhlc/v-deo.html

Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song
I like B.J. Thomas’ voice so much better than Elvis.
Best version here, by far. Elvis is great but he cant touch this or Bridge Over Troubled Waters. B.J. had gotten older here, but its still great, not quite as good as the recording, but damned near as good.
Elvis never wrote a song not like the others. He was just a pop singer
A pop singer who influenced all other singers.
Elvis isn't the only "pop singer" that never written a song..Whitney Houston..Celine Dion..Elton John..Diana Ross..Frank Sinatra and Rihanna to name a few..that's a lot of good pop singers...
Did ELVIS actually write any songs himself?
He didn't have to, Elvis was music.
@@mariogmajner6549 So the answer is no he didn’t. I don’t mind ELVIS but he doesn’t compare to artists that can write songs, play instruments and sing. That is real artistry
@@personalcheeses8073 So you're saying that if they never wrote a song they're not very good artists..well then he's in good company many not artists have never written a song. Whitney Houston. .Celine Dion..Elton John..Diana Ross..Frank Sinatra and Rhianna never wrote a song. Also Elvis played guitar and piano..oh yeah and he was an actor who made over 30 movies..you might not care for him but these people are artists..
Harry get off the Elvis train. Next thing you will give him credit for inventing the wheel.
colin raye she's with me or love me
