Brittany, many thanks for sharing your story about your Dad. I am a drummer, since I was 15 years old. I have a great story to share with you. I was a Sheriff for 28 years. One day on patrol, I received a complaint on my beat about a loud band. When I arrived at the house in question, I was met with a 5 member band, who were playing all the old classics. The band had this excellent girl singer. The age of the band members ranged around 16 to 18 years of age. I don’t know how this happened, but I asked the girl singer if I could sit in on a few songs. All of them were blown away and the first song we played was Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones. Before I knew it, there were about 25 kids watching us play. The guy who had complained about the loud music, went ballistic on me when he saw me playing with the band. It was one of the highlights of my Police career. 👍👍👍👍

BRILLIANT BREAKDOWN! I had the pleasure of seeing B.J sing in Las Vegas about a dozen times! He was amazing EVERY TIME! He was also one of most humble cats I've ever met! MAJESTIC VOCALIST!
We saw him at Turning Stone casino, (near Syracuse, NY). Fantastic show and showmanship, without technology dumped all over everything. No loud pyrotechnics, no 50 back-up singers and dancers. Just the band, the man, and his talent. We had stage-side seats, and I sat with my fingertips on the edge of the stage for 2 hours. He was so close, I could see the teeny stitches in the hem of his trousers (of his beautifully cut gray Italian double-breasted suit). He took the time to shake hands with everyone who came up to the stage. One of the best nights! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks, Fil!
God blessed us with this man and his beautiful voice. I was so in love with his songs back in the day. Now he's gone to Heaven to be with God. We miss you B.J.
Was looking forward to your look at BJ Thomas, Fil, and it's so lovely. I appreciated that his voice was beautiful and that he sang with feeling, but never knew how he was finessing the sound in such a detailed way. You singers have a lot going on!! Thanks so much Fil.
He kept his amazing voice to the very end. His vibrato never began to lag with age and his falsetto was excellent as heard in a relatively recent performance of “Don’t Worry Baby”.
BJ had the perfect voice for Raindrops. A lot of other singers have covered the song but BJ had that wonderful warm luscious tone that gave the song a beautiful sense of sentimentality and reflection that no one else could duplicate. Even several decades later J was still able to sing it with aplomb. Thank you to Fil for his gracious appreciation of a classic performer.

A wonderful singer and writer.. A wonderful man.. He is truly missed.. Thank you..
I grew up to BJ Thomas and all of his music. I Love your reaction Phil. You were displaying the fact that you knew the songs, and you showed how much respect you had for the legend, Mr. Thomas. Thank you!
I enjoyed listening to this
Fabulous Fil....... thankyou. And you have such a great smile too.
This past Saturday night my buddy called me to come over and practice a couple tunes and we did "I Just Can't Help Believing" because we're going to play it Sunday night at an open-mic. Sunday evening before we headed out we heard the news. BJ, RIP. ❤️ Thanks Fil for your heartfelt efforts and knowledge. ❤️💪👍
Fil, I love to watch your eyes during the performances. Your enjoyment of their performance show through. I've seen 1,000 things I never fully appreciated before by watching your eyes !!! Thanks !
BJ I love all your songs and your beautiful voice. I'm 66 years old and remember you well. Like everybody you got into problems but you overcame, I hope and pray I get over mine and I'm really trying thanks to people like you.
BJ’s vocal inflections are so unique. His voice was one of a kind with such a pleasant tone.
I LOVE BJ Thomas! I got to talk with him for a few minutes after a concert in Rome, Georgia! Very NICE guy! He will be missed on Earth, but welcomed in Heaven!
Thanks for playing the entire show Fil 👍❤️
Thanks you sir. What a lovely tribute to the man and the recognition of the unadulterated voice.
I stumbled onto your analysis of BJ's singing in this video. Thank you for doing this. I fell in love with BJ's voice in 1966 with "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." I just about wore out a 45 record of this song!!! I was "hooked on a feeling' for sure. The hits just kept on coming. I went from his 45's to cassettes to CDs. I just love his unique beautiful voice. I have grieved his passing and listening to and watching your analysis of BJ made me smile when I saw you smile throughout his performance. And, aren't we lucky to have had him around to enjoy that voice for so many years. He will be missed. Thanks again. l will continue to watch your show because you are so different from anything else I have found and I really enjoyed it!!
Beautiful tribute of an incredible life! Thank you, Fil. 💜💜💜
Oh! You're a new fan too. All his life histories were told. Thanks.
Fil I just love watching your facial expressions as you watch the artists performance ! You show such enjoyment, great smile !
Thank you for doing this we love The BJ Thomas here in the US he’s our guy and we miss him very much!! Very appreciated.
I am not a trained musician so I don't know "all about it" I just play. Hearing you explain what is going on when is very helpful. You are helping people to become better musicians. Thanks Phil.
One of the great voices of our time. I was fortunate to see him in concert a few times. Thank you for this excellent analysis.
Thanks Phil..RIP These are all legendary songs and music..BJ Thomas was a legend and master of singing his songs..entertainment is great
Fil, you have impeccable taste in musicians and musicianship.
Thank you, Fil, for such a great analysis of a truly remarkable man who will be so greatly missed by all of his fans. His contributions to the music world were immense and his songs will live on forever. RIP, B.J.
As always FIL, spot on!! BJ Thomas unique beautiful tone and singer, one of the very best...thanks FIL for highlighting BJ.
I was lucky enough to back up BJ Thomas and other celebs at an evetn in the late 80's. Really nice guy with no attitude at all. Also want to say I love your reaction / analysis videos - they are a real pleasure to watch!
Loved his voice. That sexy, sweet, romantic and melodious voice that crossed many genres. A true artiste unlike todays. fly by night singers. Thank you for informing us what a genius he was at handling and using his microphone to get that best voice to entertain all of us. Sing for Jesus, BJ now that you are with HIM.
Beautiful voice.....RIP.
I know almost nothing about music but my late husband was an excellent guitarist so I enjoy watching these analyses. It brings back memories and explains some things he did. I’ve always noticed those mic moves with certain artists but never understood. And I adored BJ Thomas! Thanks!
A very comprehensive analysis of B.J.’s style and ability. Nicely done!
Kinda wish you had shown him when he was younger, he was absolutely gorgeous. (Not that he wasn't here, I was a teenager when the song was released.) I'm also here for your million dollar smile. Much love to y'all from Florida. 💜💐♥️
An Amazing Artist with an Amazing voice! He Is truly missed RIP B.J. Thomas
RIP BJ Thomas. So sad to hear he passed. 😢. He was also one of my major crushes when I was a kid.
As always revealing overlooked facets of an artist's talent beyond just the performance. Thank you!
The line “This time the girl is gonna stay…for more than just a day”, manages to grab me no matter how many times I hear it.
So sad he passed. FASCINATING analysis!!!! I'd NEVER had noticed any of this and your analysis makes it much more interesting.
Sorry that I am so late finding this , I was just listening to B.J. sing my favorite song by him Don't Worry Baby and just now learned of his passing .Thank you for this analysis. R.I.P BJ Thomas
Oh, what a voice. You knew it in an instant. R.I.P. The music he gave us will live on.
Great show Fil.
Rest in Peace, Billy Joe Thomas
your music was part of my life growing up. Thank you
I go all the way back with BJ and his music, my husband and I listened too his music together. I hope he has finally met BJ in heaven. God bless them both. Thank you for sharing with us all these details I never noticed. God bless you Phil.❤️🙏
Excellent video sir . . BJ THE GREAT ! May his memory be eternal!
It's a great pleasure when the brilliant British guy with the silky smooth voice analyzes another artist with a silky smooth voice. Thanks Fil. Never quite appreciated Mr. Thomas' voice and technical prowess till this video.
I'm a fan. He's one of the best voice in history. You should listen to original version. All the best.😥😢😭 RIP B.J. we missed you.
BRILLIANT BREAKDOWN! I had the pleasure of seeing B.J sing in Las Vegas about a dozen times! He was amazing EVERY TIME! He was also one of most humble cats I've ever met! MAJESTIC VOCALIST!
Thank you so much for this analysis after the sad news of his passing.
Thank you Fil.💝
Was looking forward to your look at BJ Thomas, Fil, and it's so lovely.
I appreciated that his voice was beautiful and that he sang with feeling, but never knew how he was finessing the sound in such a detailed way. You singers have a lot going on!!
Thanks so much Fil.
He kept his amazing voice to the very end. His vibrato never began to lag with age and his falsetto was excellent as heard in a relatively recent performance of “Don’t Worry Baby”.
I didn't think BJ sang falsetto that sounds like Brian or Carl Wilson of the Beachboys
TY for this. He could certainly sing any type of music. Always loved him. RIP B.J.
