Although I have never suffered severe knee injuries, I do have a condition known as the "loose knee cap" according to my osteopathic physician. I wonder which type of knee braces would help me most. Thank you in advance for your advice.

I'm looking for a knee sleeves or brace but what i want hear from anyone in the comment section is how should i treat my knee pain, it's not diagnozed but i think according to google and the internet it seems like a patella tendonitis or runner's knee. Should i just focus on working out and building muscle on my quads and glutes and it will help my knee while i rest to heal it up? I can walk fine, it only hurts when i put too much stress on it while playing sports, which is volleyball in my case.

Lipodema/Lymphedema causes me to have abnormally large legs, especially the thighs. Every sleeve, wrap around, or brace I try on for my knee pain goes on the calf and the knee. But either won’t go up on the thigh at all, or rolls down as soon as I start to move. Are there any manufacturers who make either neoprene sleeves with a knee cut out, or wrap arounds for obese people? Most of us end up with severe knee pain. We need these products. Or is there anyone who makes custom ones to fit larger people? Or is there a way for me to buy two of one kind and have them sewn together?

Typically I dont really like recommending knee braces for runners because it tends to be very hot and the brace ends up moving around. Knee braces to address that particular problem is the special variation of having a open-back knee brace.
If you are having pain in your knees , especially in different locations of your knee, it would be best to follow up with your local physical therapist for proper evaluation to have a more long term fix. In my own experience with patients, typically scenarios similar to what you describe relates more to running mechanics? This is a guess, not advice.

@@ForTeamTang Thank you. I have addressed it years back with my doctor. I have invested in high quality running shoes that help with keeping my foot straight to help prevent any future problems from occurring. Strength training on weaker muscles as well, for a proper gate. I was skeptical on getting a brace for running as I was concerned with it moving around. For shorter runs or exercising though I will look into that type of brace. Again thanks for the video, It was very informative. I liked that you used products that are found at local retailers as opposed to online items. Thanks again. Be blessed.

Hellow doc michael, i have a surgery from a patellar tendon rupture 3 years ago, and i want to engage in physical activities again like play basketball, what type of knee support do u recommend to me?? Your reply is very much appreciated doc, thank u in advance

I hope that if you had tendon rupture 3 years ago that you would have gone through some rehabilitation to get you back up to speed.
If i were in a similar situation, I would use a wrap around knee brace and eventually not use anything at all.
But if you have not been properly evaluated, it would be ideal to have yourself checked out than just asking me. I can only do so much through a description. Perhaps in the future, I may offer a online consultation , but as of right now i do not.

Can anyone recommend knee braces for a dancer. I have intense knee pain behind my knee cap and it also tends to gives out. I need to be able to move a lot and I would like to not have to constantly reajust it. I'm never going to stop dancing either way, so either I find something to help with the pain or I just deal with it.

All around knee brace is best for sports ventures. This is a very basic one, amzn.to/3xG7hcL
sportier versions like this could work as well

if you have potentially pain or still unsure, please follow up with your local physical therapist to follow up with your specific needs.

I tore my patellar tendon and I need a brace to play basketball and to stop injury. For some reason I can't jump or run.

What brace do you recommend to prevent hyperextension? I'm not over active but normal daily walking and golfing.

There are not really a ton braces that prevent hyperextension. Only ones are hard braces or hinged brace (amzn.to/3gDaeDY), though that probably would be over kill for walking and golfing. You are likely to get a more specific answer to your medical concerns from your local medical professional.

Knee sleeve brace works great but keeps sliding down my leg. I got a hockey garter belt, cut a couple of small holes in sleeve and the brace stays in place for a whole day of skiing.
