Ehhh, maybe. I actually didn’t shellac the small veneered parts. That was actually done during the interior finishing process. It was basically done as a sanding sealer. Honestly, I think you could totally skip this. As far as under contact cement for veneer goes, I think it might actually decrease the adhesion of the cement to the wood. I’ve used a lot of contact cement in other projects and it can pull up over shellac, but that also just might be the nature of the cement.
