My friend worked on some of the costumes for this film, he's worked on numerous big films for years & said Hugh Grant was one of the kindest, humblest, most unstarry actors he's ever met. When the premiere happened, full of celebs etc, Hugh Grant spotted my friend & rushed up & greeted him like an old friend..it's a really sweet film, a really touching love story as well as the comedy.
Its adorable how talented simon is and yet how nervous he is here.

It's understandable that an American would feel self-conscious on a British talk show, because UK audiences are looking for an abundance of witty comments, but Simon's been in the public eye for years now. I expected him to be relaxed and funny.

That was the point Hugh was making. The woman singing was delusional that she could sing. She was a hopeless singer and people came to see her for a laugh.
That's awful but tbh she just sounded like a normal opera singer.
Poor Simon, that would be rather unnerving - he had done some talk shows before, but not a huge amount I believe. Not like Hugh, who has been on every talk show the world over ... likely twice! I do love the fact that Grant seems to just play himself in his roles, more or less?!

Florence is clearly off key esp at the coloratura parts of the aria. She really was delusional too because most talented sopranos don't even dare singing Queen of the Night because its so challenging. One of Mozart's most challenging arias to sing.

I think it’s Essex, one of a few counties that border London. The others being Hertfordshire, Surrey, Kent, Thurrock and Buckinghamshire. His accent is very exaggerated though, I guess it’s a lower working class type of an Essex accent.
