    I have a pair of orange RK3’s too. They are great for any sort of dives and easy to travel with.

      Ho Ross, That's great when you can take time out to enjoy diving. The RK3's would likely be my Go-To fins most many dive locations.. and they pack fairly small too. Thanks for your note ! Regards Bob C

    My Apeks RK3s (regular) are my go-to fins. Well built, short, wide and sturdy, and with a very comfortable foot pocket. Neutrally buoyant and gives great thrust in any kicking style. They are not too heavy so I often use them when I travel. In my 5th year with these bad boys...and they sure deliver.

      Thanks for sharing Pelle. I was just talking with a diver on the sales floor about the RK3's vs some other fins they were looking at... I echoed the same features you listed above. Regards Bob C

    These fins are very good for frog kicking, helicopter turns, and back fining. That's why people should get them, not to flutter.

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  2 роки тому +2

      Mr Incognito, I'm guessing you commenting on the RK3"s ? If so, yes you can Flutter and Mod Flutter with these, but they are excellent for the kicks we described as well, where some of these other are less effective with these other kick methods.

      Maybe and maybe not, I see people everyday wearing 10 to 15 year old fins... usually the straps dry rot first but those are usually easy to replace. If you like what you have, dive them ! Thanks for the comment Bob C

      @@DiversSupplyYT in all honesty my fins are just fine. They are Mares and only a few years old. But I like to gear up like a tech diver and use some of the advanced gear, it feels safer to me. I like the Dive Rite fins you showed. I'm a big fan of Dive Rite, had one of their canister lights over 15 years ago. Anyway, I'm thinking the Dive Rite fins with their extra features will be a perfect fit for my trip to the springs in Fl.
      Thanks for all your helpful videos. Now thanks to your vids, I'm also pretty sure I need 117ft HP steel tanks.

      @@UltraReefReseller Oh I know what you mean about up dating gear. Today's Technology and Manufacturing processes have made advancements to dive gear that are hard to ignore.
      Many of us have GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)... from all the cool new gear being introduced. Regards Bob C

    The Dive Rite is similar to the Avanti Quattros as an all around good blade fin. I found the Jets are only useful with a Drysuit as they make my feet sink in a wetsuit no matter how much I try to trim with weight. Not fun to travel/fly with. Foot pockets are also narrow/small so 8.5 foot means Large on a wetsuit booty and XL with with a drysuit or rock boot. The steel/cloth loops on the Jet are hard on your heels so get the rubber ones and you have to drill "Drain holes" to prevent suction. Deep 6 also makes some nice neutral fins in this style with wide foot pockets. The foot pocket is a bit shallow though so L to keep my toes from getting crammed like the S-M with the limited adjustability. OMS also not reviewed. They swim nicely neutral Size L as well but will kink eventually at the foot pocket if you often frog kick.

    Would I be able to use the RK3s as both a travel fin (like the Red Sea, Bonaire, Thailand, etc) and use it for cold diving? I live in Northern California, and I do cold diving in Monterey. Was looking at the scuba pro jet fins but I think they might be too heavy for traveling, so now I’m thinking of the RK3s

    For recreational diving, are the Apeks RK3 HD too negatively buoyant and affect my trim since I don't have a lot of equipment or a steel Plate on me?
    I'm looking for a short and stiff fin since I'm fit and I'm going to do wreck diving in Egypt, but I'd like to be able to maintain a flat trim with not effort. Are trim weights in my Bcd (I'm going to buy an Axiom, thanks for the tip btw) going to be enough?

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  Рік тому +2

      Two things:
      First,
      RK3's Small are right at 2lbs each and RK3HD's are 2.25. The HD's are Neg buoyant, but the HD's are barely Neg and only by the steel spring strap.
      I just had these in the pool so this is not me just guessing.
      Second,
      The majority of your weight goes into the front integrated weight pockets of the Axiom. Use about a 1/3 of the total weight you need to put into your trim pockets.
      If you use say 14lbs total, go 4-4 up front and 3-3 in trim. Just my method. Regards Bob C

    Hey bob. How are you today. In November I will be taken to scuba dive course. And I am also a subscriber to your channel on UA-cam. So I need your Help. I wear a size 12 In sneakers. So I need to know what size in fins.

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  2 роки тому

      Hi Alfredo, thanks for watching and subscribing.
      So size 12 in tennis shoe so likely a 11 in most booties and i highly suggest hi-top booties about 5mm. I'd look at the Mares 5mm Classic. It's not a HARD sole but is good for scuba boat/beach diving. Plus it's good for most temps of water.
      Fins, well it depends. So mfg's make Xs-Sm, Regular and Lrg/Xlg and other do the xs,sm,med, lrg and xl sizings. Is there a specific fin you're looking at already ? Let me know.
      If not the Mares Quattro+ fin I'd go to in a Regular because you can add spacers to the straps if the fit is a bit snug. I use spacers on my Mares X-Tremes and love them.
      Let me know and I'll try to help further.
      Regards
      Bob C
