After getting it specially implanted he feared he would die if the diamond was dislodged unprofessionally. And yet it was ripped out by fans at a show at rolling loud as he dove into the crowd.

For synthetic stones, they include a tiny ammount of a strongly colored compound, known as a "dopant" (i know chromium is great for blue, not sure what they use for pink, maybe iron)
As opposed to natural diamonds which slowly crystallize, but can't match the purity of synthetic gems, and naturally incorporate tiny "inclusions" of other minerals (such as chromium in natural blue diamonds, not sure what's in pink ones, probably iron)
While technically accurate, saying "they dye them" makes it sound like they dunk them in food coloring or whatever.
Its the same thing, except because human technology is so much more precise than literally a puddle and some rocks, you get to specify the exact color in your initial mix, rather than just getting what you get.
The whole process happens at larger scale with sapphira, the gem that forms ruby, saphire, and other colored stones. And they use to make LEDs, which to simplify greatly, glow the colors they do because there's a tiny gem in each of the right color.
Compare diamond prices to one of those hundred watt leds. yeah diamond prices are BS. don't buy them.
