Hi Jay. Sorry for the late reply mate "its all roundabouts & whirlygigs atm = trying to get my neighbour sorted, after the fire + work & everything else in-between. Ah 😊 you'll remember it well then = great old market that "they've ripped the fcuking life out of it now, Jay." Ooow yes = Murkoffs was "literally the best ice cream you'll ever have tasted." He made it himself & god only knows "how that bloke got it like that" = I could eat that now, lol. No problem at all, Jay 😊 Glad you're enjoying them + thanks for the lovely comment!! 👍✌️

Thanks for this - bringing back oodles of memories. My family from my dad's side all originate from Canning Town (going back to the late 1800's), and a lot of the family were moved from local streets into the new estate that was built after the war which was Cliff Walk and Trinity Gardens. Where MacDonalds is now, was a derelict factory that remained there for years - someone mentioned a cigar factory which does ring a bell, but I will asked my dad when I see him next and do an update.

@@londonluke6487 Hi Luke - spoke to my dad and he says that the building use to make pipes and that his sister worked there in the sixties! Sounds as if you are also from Cannng Town - I bet your family knows my family. Keep up the good work (particularly liked your vid on the East London Crematorium). Cheers.

@charliepaynter Hi Charlie. Sorry for the late reply mate = been really busy with work this week. Ah rite, thank him for confirming that "crazy mad, just how much that particular patch of Canning Town, has changed, over the last 50 years + is in great change now." Yeah, they were a Canning Town & Tidal Basin family = Still side were all Dock Labourers = & the Price side from Custom House, were Dock Labourers + a Rag n Bone Man ⬅️ proper old school working families 👌. Funny thing is, I remember my Nan talking about a Charlie Paynter "who used to drink with my Granddad Albert Still, in the flag & the triple C club in Caufin Road." I'll ask my Dad when I see him. But definitely remember that name. Small world ay. Cheers mate, appreciate that 👍✌️

Yes, that ice cream was massively popular = I could quite easily eat a tub of it now, lol. Ah rite, cheers for the info "always appreciate help with locations" 👍 Did you? You'll remember the old area well then 😊 Its certainly changed & is still changing, a hell of a lot "big money influx & building boom = for many of the City workers." ✌️

@barzeyadna Hi Edna. It was a lovely market, wasn't it "until the local authority tore the heart out of it, & ripped it to shittery." Lol, now there's a blast from the past "Woolworths at Canning Town" = I just about remember that one! My Nan, loved Woolworths & Caters, which later became Kwik-saves & is now a Co-Op. Would love to try sarsaparilla "have heard good things about that = especially served hot, on a cold winters day" 👌 Thsnks for sharing the great memories, Edna 😊💙✌️

Your comment that Trinity church was bombed bought back a memory.
I worked at Paragon in Fords Park Rd 1967/70 and got off the bus at Trinity Church.
The bus conductor always shouted, “ Trinity church” and for weeks I wondered where it was.
I later found out it was bombed in the war but still a “landmark” 25 years later.

Evening Cliff. Sorry for the late reply = I've had a lot going on recently. Glad it evoked a memory, mate + cheers for sharing it 👍 "must have been habit with some of the pre war & wartime bus conductors." Shame it was lost, as it looked a lovely old Victorian era church. Lol, I can see why you'd get confused, & be looking for a missing church, with that though 😊✌️
