The Toyota dealership near my latest place...$43 dollars for the diagnostic scan to check the steering cable recall. I paid and then called head office for a refund. Never bothered returning for the refund. It's logged on the system if I ever get desperate. $43 is a small price to pay for a peek at standard operating procedure in a workshop. They lost a new car sale at the time due to the dishonesty.
FYI: ADHD On good authority we are all on the spectrum. It’s just that some are that mild that it doesn’t get diagnosed. Then there is misdiagnosis which sadly happens a bit too easily.
The quality of these new Hilux aren't that great either. But it's not only a Toyota issue. In this case leaking injector could been the route cause. Or some of those fancy tuning chips.
Bottom end is a problem on the old Holden petrols. Mine worked very well as a work ute. The older style has terrible gearing and rubbish fuel consumption once you hit 100km/hr. The last of the Rodeo's worked quite well. The Isuzu motor wasn't terrible IME. Not sure how it's doing now. I'd expect it to be running if it hasn't been flogged at high revs.
I've got a 2005 rodeo with a 4jh1 (pre commonrail vp44 pump) and they are rock slilid apart from the fuelpumps. swapped mine for a mechanical pump and it has never let me down easily done 400,000 kms with not a single issue with the engine
@@rossfoulkes8856 yeh the 4jj1 isuzu commonrails are fairly good considering the electrics, timing chains strech over time, and the occasional snapped crank or headgasket stop them from being gods engine. the 1kd with the easily changable timing belt means with the correct maintenance they seem like a far better choice. if only you could remove the valve cover without removing injector lines.

4JJ1 engine is brilliant

happy with my 2018 dmax. I'd say the 4JJ1 is on par with the 1KD.
..cracked piston...? High egt, too much fuel i guess? Headgasket gone? Sucking oil as diesel?
It looks super clean. Deffo a warranty job if they haven't done anything truly stupid.
Leaking injector?
😂😂😂
Hmm Toyota 🤔🤔🤔 Honda builds the best engine 👍👍 and I have Prado 120 1kz and 2 Fortuner 1kd 😮😮
Is the 1GD a Toyota engine or a BMW engine rebranded? A lot of newer Toyotas have BMW engine and are scrap!
