I keep seeing this exact comment on various videos of Touker in it 🤧 maybe you genuinely thought this but it’s just funny that everyone needs to pick up on it…. 😂
Every tape measure I have purchased comes with a built-in way of overcoming this problem, the case has a length, and it is printed in inches on one side and millimetres on the other side. You pull the tape out and lock the case, add the measurement of the tape at the locked line to the case measurement and hey presto you have your reading
I was looking for this comment. However, some tape measures only have it in imperial which sucks. 3 1/8 inches, FFS! Of course I can convert it to metric, which is 7.9375. Why couldn't they make it 8? Gawd, imperial doesn't make any sense, a relic, a vestige, just like those who still like using it.
@@daveryall5919 But you do if you want to make an order for a part to fit. You can't send the supplier your tape, and there might be many parts you want.
Just FYI, make a pencil mark 10cm from the edge, measure from the other edge to your pencil mark, add the 10cm and hey presto, you have your measurement.
The bit of (mis) information from this channel that I can't get out of my head: Someone thought Theo and Touka were the same person, but that Theo had just suffered a stroke or something. Can't stop thinking about that theory whenever I see either of them.
All you do is when you measure a distance with this problem is measure one way right up to the nearest whole number on the tape (without any bending of the tape), mark the spot, and turn the measuring tape around measure from the opposite end to that mark and add the two numbers together you can never go wrong.....
This is one of those products that appeals to people without the experience. For someone new to measuring it makes it a little bit easier. But for anyone with experience, measuring in a corner really isn't an issue. I just bend it into the corner and read it and that's it.
Yeah I do not get it, I've been fitting kitchens for 20years + if you need to measure 'inside' just read the measure and add 2-3mm, or measure from one side to a certain point and turn the tape around! And with that I am out.
Or use the tape measure how it’s meant to and put the tape including the case on the internal measurement then read the measurement on the case of the tape and add that to what the tape reads 🪄 😂
In the beginning of 2024 the company went bankrupt. It's rumoured the owners lost everything. They're currently surviving off tea leaves and cabbage in a motorhome somewhere in Slough.
Measure an easy distance from one internal corner, pencil tick. Repeat from other corner, to the tick, add both numbers / dimensions. My method, anyway, fwiw.
Does Deborah hate Touker or something? I've heard what Touker just said 100 times before, but by Peter, and not once has she ever interrupted him in a disrespectful manner. She keeps doing it
Maybe it is because Touker has a condescending way of speak? I am not sarcastic. I don´t know if she thinks that, but I do. Of all the dragons he is the one I would want the least if I was there pitching. I would rather work with Jenny than him.
The fact is, Stanley make a measure with a window in the top of the case that shows the internal measurement of a recess without the need for a clip and which is 100% accurate. I think they've invented something that is no longer necessary.
Steve was on the dragon's den about 10 years ago with some collapsable bin idea that he wanted to put in some county. The company tanked within about 6 months.
£800k evaluation with no way of backing it up is crazy. You can’t value a business on what it will be with the input of a dragon who you are then charging for the privilege
Measure back ten and measure to the ten mark. Trouble is with these I’d say is keeping it close by to use when needed. It’s usually a rare internal measurement and quicker ways to get it accurate. Good idea though. I’ve seen people use a bulldog clip and a credit card. Simple cheap alternative so it’d need to be cheap
Most brand name tape measures now tell you how long it is. Find one with a number you can remember and you're all set. My Craftsman 16 foot self-locking tape measure is exactly 3 inches from the end to the point where the measurement is shown, so all you have to do is butt the end against what you're measuring, see what it says and add 3 inches - there really is no need to buy this product unless you're too lazy to buy a new tape measure.
Great idea, but yeah using a bulldog clip would probably have the same effect if less fancy. Now if this came with a tape measure I'd probably buy that tape measure over an alternative which didn't have it, maybe that's where they need to go with this, license it to a tape measure manufacturer.
I am amazed none of the dragons asked for any advantages of using this device, against that of a Laser measure which is very accurate, readily available and relatively cheap. This device seems to be a step backwards from the tech available today....
Put the tape measure case in one corner and the tape end in the other corner, take your reading and add on the length written on the casing. This product was created to solve a problem that doesn't exist because the tape measure company ls already overcame this problem. Just teach people to use a tape measure correctly.
This is gimmick of the gimmick. In their example situation, I could just hold the tape measure across the top of the object, and measure the distance, without the recess bend. Either by holding the beginning of the tape against the inside top of the object, or by hooking it over the edge and subtracting the width of the side of the object/box. How often do you NEED to make the measurement on the deepest inside of the thing you're working on? I hope I've worded in an understandable way. And if you do need to measure inside the object, and you do get a curve, I'm sure with a couple of experiences, you would just know to add a couple mm from where the curve starts. Pro carpenters/chippies end up getting very good at small hacks and tricks that help them get things done quicker, with accuracy.
Tuka needs a attitude adjustment, if he don't agree with an evaluation theres no need to get nasty with aggressive comments, was good hearing Deborah educate a bit.
This is a good application for teens and people with no trade experience. Any tradie or handyman worth his salt doesn’t guess. He looks at the corner and counts the millimeters and correctly calculates the right measurement every time. Also follow the golden rule: Measure twice cut once.
Tradesmen will simply not use this..useless in my opinion and i myself have been in the cold store construction business for 20 odd years....there is no problem to solve here.
this is useful for blocking walls, ceilings, and floors. A job most loath. A job most new guys get and do poorly. Anybody could keep one of these in the bag.
😂😂 Pointless invention just learn how to read a tape correctly its not rocket science 😂 Been a builder for 30 years and he still cant read a tape messure i wouldnt like to see his work
while it's not a bad product in theory, any competent person (note, not trades) would cut over, or where the tape retouches the piece for fitting anyway 🫣
I find it quite funny that every time Touker says he’s out, he immediately looks at the other dragons😂
I was about to say the same thing, it is like he is trying to get their approval.
I keep seeing this exact comment on various videos of Touker in it 🤧 maybe you genuinely thought this but it’s just funny that everyone needs to pick up on it…. 😂

You just lock the tape measure and then place it onto what you want to cut, no need to even look at the measurement.

Deborah’s ring is so massive I thought she was wearing an Apple Watch on her finger
No mate
Aww I thought it looked nice. It goes nicely with her outfit
@@austinvenable63 meant to say it was so massive not too massive. It’s nice say it cost a fortune
It probably has a *vibration* function too 😏

laser measure is an even better and more versatile solution
But how would the clip attach to the laser beam?
@@jamesflames6987 the same clip that attaches the laser beam to a frickin shark.

Isn't that the same Steve that was on an old episode for the 'In-Velope' foldaway boxes?
I don't know for sure, but I was thinking it's the same person, too
The casing that holds the tape measure shows the tension which you use the same way then add the tape length to the casing length
They’re not that accurate though. I don’t think anyone trusts doing it that way
Rate Debra for shutting Tuka down.
Steven Capon has been on Dragon's Den before, trying to get an investment for some collapsible bins.

..looks like he calmed down a bit since!
At last! A solution to the problem of not knowing how to use a tape measure. The solution is more complicated than the imaginary problem.
Why not a smaller clip already attached at the end which you can freely move?
The tape measure has its dimension written on it
According to Google they are still in business.

This is the kind of thing that would be extremely useful for DIY handymen and people at home but not so much for the actual profession.
Theo who used to be a dragon once said, “It’s not got to work, it’s just got to sell”

They have no idea how to use a tape. The tape will have its size printed on it and can be added to measurement.
it should just be a feature on a tape measure not separately
The whole “fake elevator” just ruins it for me.

How did the chicken cross the road in the pouring rain and NOT get wet ? He had a cape on.
I feel like they just need to invent a new tape measure. Why would people want to make tape measuring more steps?
Wouldn't add thickness and detract from absolute accuracy?
