I think he was too, my grandma had a floral print one here in the USA,but it didn't have castor wheels made from rollerblade wheels. It was very much a pull behind.@@scienceevolves4417
I think the argument (that went unmade) is that having rollerblade wheels offers a tangible benefit over the wheels normally used for this sort of thing. Seems unlikely that there's enough of a difference to be worth the price, though.
There's no way she's serious about this, right? Like... I've DEFINITELY seen suitcases that have full 360 degree swivel for under £100... Why is she trying to claim this is a new thing?
My grandma literally has one that is even better. She can drag it up the stairs without having to lift it. This is a nice bag sure, but the pitch was a joke.
£234 for a bag with wheels on it? You could get the exact same bag for less than 50 quid. Also an average revenue of like £10k with an average profit of -£12k but valued at half a million? Girl wanted to go in at 50x revenue and -42× profit for a bag that can be replicated by virtually any retailer in existence.
No sorry, but she said they don't exist. She said so. You've never seen them before. They are absolutely from the year 3000 built with undiscovered alien technology. Bags on wheels have never been created by anyone.
I can’t find a bag like this that they speak of. I very much would like one that opens up at the top (big advantage), securely closes, and is particularly smooth to roll around.
Imagine the Dragon's Den channel used funny titles like the Hell's Kitchen / Kitchen Nightmares ones do. Would be hilarious considering how serious the show is.
I had a trolley when doing 355 local papers a week on a Thursday and in 1987 it cost me £6. One of the reasons I quit that schoolboy job was I didn't want to spend another weeks wages on another one when it wore out. Even at todays prices. £100 is a lot, too much for most for this kind of thing. And doing a paper round. I would never afford one of these.
@@S.Trades Not sure what you are replying to. But with todays law I would get holiday pay regarding my paper round. And i certainly wouldn't be buying the equipment needed. Out of a small wage. To do my job.
I question whether or not this woman has ever left the house. I used one of these for my Sat/Sun paper rounds 25 years ago :/ It's literally a shopping trolley but they replaced castor wheels with rollerblade wheels. It's exactly the same thing except it might have a rollerblade brand attached haha. WHY?
Insane pricing. My Samsonite suitcase was cheaper that that. Also I’ve seen grocery suitcase like that way more cheaper. Reinventing grandmas trolley but make it pricier 😅
I thought they were harsh, it's clearly got modern rollerwheels. This lady did an inconsistent job of defending the product. She should have said the bag separates from the frame for cleaning. She should have talked about theamount of money people spend on bags can be very high. Stephen said it was cool, she should have said she's looking for influencers for legal community etc etc... too much time building rapport with dragons, not enough defence.
I often travel for work and, regardless of how this may be a more convenient way of transporting luggage, unless I'm checking in or have checked out, I'm just taking my laptop to the office! 😅
Deborah gets all bent out of shape interrupting Touker, lying saying she has a question, proceeds to ask no such question and goes out. Not her best episode.
exactly. Deborah is a bit toxic for no reason. I think she looks down on touker due to his nationality. But peter jones can literally get up and slap deborah across her face and she would smile and agree with him.
I don’t understand what’s to like about this bag on wheels. She says it’s also for travelling, but how is that different from any cabin luggage on 4 wheels? There are rucksacks that go on wheels. A quick “4-wheel shopping bag” shows thousands of results, so I really don’t understand why this product would ever be successful… 🤷
I just did some traveling and have a bag like that but far better. You can strap a backpack on top of the suitcase to the handles. It has way more pockets. I opens from all angles and the wheels are not roller blade wheels they are far sturdier and don’t get caught on anything. It was 80$. Idk who would buy this.
If she had made this a frame that would work for cat and dog carries, luggage and everything pretty much then it might be something sellable because other people are only in the suitcase space or backpack.
I've seen these for years. At least over a decade now. Sure the nice ones that can do a 360° swivel are high end and expensive, so MOST people get the ones you tilt back and drag behind you, but these DEFINITELY already exist
It's a shame, seems like a good bag and honestly a good start to the pitch. It just really needed some good sales figures and a bit more thought into wording things. Arguing about 'Why have you detatched it, you don't need to' was funny buuuut she should of instead said 'You can detatch it for cleaning, storage or to pop it up on the table without it rolling away or getting the messy wheels up in full view after a days travel'
What it costs her to make it is about how much it should retail at. 200+ for a bag on wheels is ridiculous. Having said that if the dragons saw a good opportunity im sure they’d be able to keep the costs down to make the product but they just didn’t believe in it.
These wheels wouldnt work at all on the pavement, gravel or in snow. Thats why my granny had 2 pairs of big wheels and 2 smaller and yes...she dragged it behind coz its the easiest way to do if its full of milk.
I’ve seen similar suitcases like this year out there with the rotating wheels & common issues with the wheels needing to be replaced or coming off easily, the consumer needs a reliable suitcase and there’s too many poor ones out there. I think the look of the product gives a luxurious vibe to it, but the only great potential I see in that bag is that frame if it was able to be moulded to create other potential designs.
Sorry but there are plenty of other products like this - but even stronger and sturdier frames, wheels and fabric. The key is in the wheels. The wheels need to be much bigger and thicker. I know from experiencing buying multiple products like these that simply break. I now have one which is perfect, stronger and bigger than what we see in this episode.
hmm if it was foldable, I'd pay 100 bucks for it. after having spent close to 300 in bags that essentially are disposable because of how garbage their wheels are...
@@whoever_81That's s very good point. Someone could make a mint on inventing carts that customers could bring into the store, and roll out again to load into carriaged. All top loaded. So someone should invent wheels that lock up if the cart leaves the store parking perimeter.
