What a mildly entertaining ride
This was really the coaster that launched my coaster enthusiast-ness. So sad to be losing the theming of Paradise Pier. They almost had it fixed.

I'm referring to the theming of Paradise Pier. Originally, Toy Story Mania was the site of a couple never-open counter-service restaurants. Silly Symphony Swing was in a giant orange peel. The Fun Wheel was actually the Sun Wheel, with a heavily artistically-designed sun drawn on it. Goofy's Sky School was themed to Mulholland Drive in California. There was a store shaped like a dinosaur. It was all kinds of mishmash of times and theme that didn't lend itself to the greatest immersion that I expect from a Disney park. Today, there are only a few relics of this. King Triton's Carousel and Jumpin' Jellyfish are the most egregious violators of the sense of immersion Paradise Pier creates. They stylistically are very modern, but Paradise Pier is supposed to be set around the 1920's, albeit a very romanticized 1920's. There's some minor things like California Screamin's queue signage, and the boardwalk storefront designs that seem out of place. By dressing Toy Story Mania the way they did, redressing the flat rides, and redesigning the Paradise Gardens area, they really came close to sealing the immersion that the area sorely lacked when the park opened. If they'd just fixed up the theming on the Carousel and Jellyfish, it would've been amazing how successfully they transformed an odd mix of low-budget theming elements into a fantastic land that ties strongly into the vision of California Adventure. Instead, we're getting Pixar Pier, which looks good, but it just seems like they put so much effort into making it all work 5 years ago that they shouldn't just waste all that great theming they put into action.
What defeats me the most is that they had plans to originally fix the whole area of paradise pier by giving it a high quality Victorian overhaul with every attraction getting a redesign including the mailiboomer being rethemed to a parachute ride that would be the last of its kind in the US, they were this close to making a quality California park until they removed the tower of terror and then they ruined the whole park all over again
This ride for Disney is actually pretty thrilling

the logic on this ride is really well programmed and smart... it selects different recordings depending on how long it has to hold the train.
It's interesting that they're renaming it's getting a retheme. Oh and first to actually watch the video and not write "first" because I feel good about my self for clicking on a video before someone else. Great offride footage, as usual.

This just made me so excited for my theme park trip I’m taking in three weeks. This is and always will be in my top 10 favorite roller coasters just because it was such an important part of my childhood and into my early teens.
New theme will eliminate Neil Patrick Harris's voice when the coaster launches :( I actually liked that voice a lot before you launch. He made the ride even more fun to be on.
Tony Kim that's unfortunate, but it wouldn't make sense with the retheme, so makes sense. I wonder if the new voice will be Mr. Incredible or Dash.

Yes! That would be awesome. They could have just simply made the “Pixar” area somewhere else and kept Paradise Pier. Don’t forget that Mickey Mouse structure on the loop as well. Lol

Disney will unfortunately never do that because that means they would have to publicly admit that pixar pier was a mistake. Which is a shame because I love the California Screamin soundtrack and every time the gates open to board when I’m on other intamin’s with LSM launch all I hear is Neil Patrick Harris says “I know your in a hurry hurry hurry. But for your safety safety safety pleas pull down on the should restraint until it locks in place. Please keep your head against the headrest and remain seated with your hands arms feet and legs inside the car. Do me a favor. Watch your kids.
