Sleep on the Rim of Kilauea Crater at Volcano House! Visit the southern most point of the USA!

- Our first two nights of our Hawaiian trip are spent at Volcano House on the crater rim of the Kilauea Volcano. We check out the lava each night and hike the area during the day.
The Iki Trail takes us through the 1959 eruption to witness the devastation and beauty of the regrowth of the foliage taking place. The Thurston Lava Tube was easily accessible and very short. Many trails take you around the crater and through sulfur banks and steaming bluffs.
We drive down to the most southern point of the United States and drive along the Chain of Craters Road to the Sea Arch and the Petroglyphs.
Coming back we stop at the most southern bakery in the United States to have a burger and dessert.
Each night we have dinner at the Volcano House. There is the main dining room and the lounge which also serves food.
After here we are leaving for Hilo to check out more of the Island of Hawaii!
Volcano House is a historic hotel located within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. It offers stunning views of the Kilauea Volcano and is a popular destination for travelers who want to experience the unique and beautiful environment of the park. The hotel has been in operation since 1846, making it one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in the United States. Kilauea is an active shield volcano located on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and has been continuously erupting since 1983. Kilauea is part of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and is a popular destination for tourists who want to witness its volcanic activity. The volcano has a large summit caldera and several rift zones that extend from the caldera to the coast. Eruptions from Kilauea can include lava flows, explosive eruptions, and ash emissions.
Iki Trail is a popular hiking trail located in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is a 4-mile (6.4 km) round trip hike that starts at the Thurston Lava Tube and leads to the Iki Crater, a small but scenic volcanic crater. The trail passes through a lush rainforest and offers scenic views of the surrounding volcanic landscape. The hike is considered to be moderate in difficulty and takes about 2-3 hours to complete. It is a popular destination for nature lovers, hikers, and tourists who want to experience the unique environment of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Visitors should be prepared for the unpredictable weather and bring plenty of water, sturdy footwear, and a hat.

We love to check out breweries, restaurants, local hikes in the area as well as traveling away to see what other destinations have to show us. We take our dogs as much as we can, but some areas aren't made for our furry kiddos.
Not every video will be an award winner but all we need is someone to laugh and enjoy the ride along the way.
This video is absolutely breathtaking! I loved the night images that you took. The deep red light from the lava is brilliant. The idea of sleeping on the rim of the Kilauea Crater at Volcano House is both thrilling and awe-inspiring. I can only imagine how incredible it must be to witness the raw power of nature up close and personal. The views are simply stunning. It must have been quite interesting walking across the Kilauea Crater. You guys must be in great shape. You did a lot of walking on those trails. The views of the Ocean were also incredible, especially at the most Southern point. Wow what wonderful comments we are so very thankful for your support. This was a wonderful trip and we took full advantage of all our time on this island and covered the whole island in detail. We luckily had hiked in Central Oregon smith rock and mt st helens in the months prior to this so it made this much easier but during covid with so much being cancelled we sat at home and got very put of shape so we have been slowly crawling back.into some sort of shape. Thank u again for everything finding others who enjoy this and know the work that goes into it and supports us has been one of the top things with starting the you tube channel! Thank u!

Thx for watching yes but several airbnb close by as well I actually was gonna book us at a really neat tree house but my little princess Ron didn't want to try it. Sometimes the airbnb are alot less just fyi. But yes staying close at least one or 2 nights makes it easy especially if you wanna see lava at night! Thx for watching and supporting!

What an awesome adventure "Rim of Kilauea Crater. The night views were amazing, love the red sky! The meal at the Volcano House looks delicious. Great tour of the National Park, beautiful scenery and nice walking/hiking trails. The lava tube was exciting and a little scary! Lol. Yes this trip was wonderful and get's better as we go but honestly our favorite of the Hawaiian islands is Maui then Kauai and from what I know of you so far I bet you may think the same. It is so difficult every time we leave Maui and they say sometimes the island may call to you and u have a connection and that is how I feel with that island. Maybe a past life not sure but I hope one day I will spend half the year on the island. We hope to visit again soon and now that we vlog we can't wait to share it with others. Hello my rambling friends. The Volcano House was a great place to stay. So nice to visit the volcano. Nice evening photos. The crater visit was also a nice place to visit. The food looks delicious and the bakery stop was a great idea. You guys packed up lots of excitement in this video. I didn’t get a chance to visit the volcano so maybe on my next visit. Lovely tour and views. Knowing the history of the area didn't you find it a touch worrisome to walk so close to the crater? When parts collapse there, they are pretty substantial, LOL. Not sure I'd get my Mrs. to walk those paths. Thanks for taking us along, enjoyed it.

This video brings back so many memories!!! We stayed at Volcano House and toured very similar places while we were on our honeymoon. We also visited Kauai on that trip and we fell in love with it. That was almost 25 years ago so we're definitely due to go back. Such a beautiful place!!! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
We loved Kauai as well but must say Maui is our favorite. Island hopping is great. We are doing something similar this summer some of our first anniversaries almost 30 years ago was up in Canada and along a few islands so we are going to go back this summer. cool I wish I had the chance to see the volcanoes when I was on the big island. Since are there how about hoping down to Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, I came from the Island of Rota just 45 north of Guam. I love Poke - grew up on it. That coconut shell came from when I made the homemade coconut oil video. I wanted to return the love and sub to your channel too. beautiful shot of the lava flow.
