Mill Creek Falls and Monkey Canyon Pools

- Today I decided to go to Monkey Canyon and Mill Creek Falls. I first defended to Big Tujunga Creek and then hiked down to the Monkey Canyon waterfall. Give that I didn't know the water level and I was on my own, I decided not to take the slide and go to the lower pool on the ladder. It was nice, but not as deep as I think it's been in the past given all of the sediment. I then went up to Mill Creek Falls, which was really nice too. That waterfall has a big pool too.
This is going below all videos in my long form content:
FYI: I explore a lot and stumble upon many different things. The way I go about sharing locations is that if someone tells me to keep a spot secret before I wind up finding it on my own, I keep those spots secret. Otherwise, I share information at my own discretion because I like sharing what I find. I may take things down, obscure locations, or remove data upon request as I have done in the past, but a lot of the places I visit are less well known (because I'm exploring), so I could potentially be removing everything if I did things the other way around, which I don't want to do.
If there is a spot you'd like me to keep secret (if I find it), let me know BEFORE. I change my mind about what I keep secret on my own, but if we talk, I am much less likely to jeopardize my integrity than change my mind. There are a few secrets I don't share with people because I agree to keep these spots on the down low (even when I have heard about them through different parties before visiting). If I find a spot on my own on publicly accessible land and I decided to share it despite you not wanting me to, THAT'S ON YOU. These areas are for everyone to enjoy, explore, and share with the world. Feel free to reach out. I am a reasonable person.
Nice🙌🏻🙌🏻you made it to Monkey!!!
Millcreek looks so refreshing ! Thanks! 👍👍😀😀
I'm happy I finally got to it! Mill creek was nice too! It's a little over grown coming up form the canyon, but can also be accessed from Hidden Springs Picnic Area, although you have to know where to climb down.
Keep 'em coming!! 😊Thumbs up👍
Will Do! I'm happy you enjoy the videos
I was there the other day that waterslide is epic!! Only thing is the ladder on the way back up is a little risky as it's not totally secured. so just be extra careful navigating back up and make sure it's fully functional before heading down 👍😀
Nice! yeah, the part with the chain lower down feels sketchy, I saw an old video of the canyon where it looks like there were some sand bags that people put in to dam off the water making the pool deeper and the ladder more accessible, I'm surprised it's been up as long as it has
I remember when there wasn’t no latters just a bunch of ropes with knots to pull yourself back up that was a mission specially being wet start slipping but then one year someone put those latters was made a lot of difference but yeah everyone needs to be careful they been there 12-15 yrs or so now n yeah there was bunch of sand bags n tree logs laying across working as a dam so it was deeper and we were able to jump off the cliffs n not touch the bottom still but now I was there last weekend n u can barely do the slide it’s not deep at all anymore so cliffs jumping is impossible as of now unfortunately!!!
@@MRHITMANDOCKS1 That's awesome, I wish there were still sandbags and logs damming the water. I bet they get washed out pretty fast after a major storm though.
@@nature_exploring I think I seen a video of some dude kayaking or whatever is called down the monkeys creek n they even filmed passed the cliff spots this year and there was still ropes used as nets n sandbags n stuff holding the water back higher so someone removed it recently but I think it could be done again if anybody local down to put in some work lmk
@@MRHITMANDOCKS1 I didn't see any at the main pool when I went. I tried coming up earlier this year from up Big Tujunga from Fall Creek when the flow was higher and I had to turn around where the canyon gets really narrow (just downstream from Monkey Canyon). There was just too much water for me to wade up the canyon that time of year. There could be a pool with bags there (I haven't actually checked that stretch in a while). The lower pools in the canyon are different from the main pool with the waterslide where people used to jump from ~40-50 feet. It would surprise me if the lower one's could get that deep, but perhaps I should return and check sometime.
Very cool !!! Seeking out places to bring my dogs.... That's not it (can't climb down with 4 dogs!) but great video all the same. I'll keep watching your other adventures! So neat to know all these little hidden places.... People who spray paint suck.
Awesome! Hopefully you find something nice! There are some nice waterholes on the East Fork and West Fork of the San Gabriel River, Cattle Canyon, Big Tujunga Near Wildwood, Bear Creek, Piru Creek...
@@nature_exploring yes, great suggestion!
Great flow for this time of year!
I've really appreciated all of the water we've had in LA these last two years! Nothing compared to some of the spots you've been at recently
He lo 🥰🥰🥰🥰🔥🔥
Love this area on a hot day!
@@nature_exploring 🥰🥰🥰
i went there a few weeks ago and i saw a byunch of baby trout
There are a bunch now!
@@nature_exploring ima go back with my rod
@@Indiebassin Nice, Good Luck!!
wow amazing, where are you from ? you have nice video contact
Thanks, this is in the San Gabriel Mountains near Los Angeles
Do you think it would still be full of water now ? Looks great
I think both should still have a good amount of water now given the rains this year. On a drought year I'd be a little more skeptical. These were both a good time!
@@nature_exploring awesome I'm thinking about going after this week, I'm hoping it's as beautiful as you went ! I love the cleanliness and solitude feeling.
@@Lestatthevampirebrat Awesome! I hope they have plenty of water still!
Make Carl Go Viral! ⛰️💦🌟
Thanks! One of these days
nice to meet you at here
you too!
The tagged Monkey Falls area looked like urban waste, but the upper Mill Creek looked great.
I love Mill Creek Falls. It can also be accessed from the Hidden Springs Picnic Area, but you have to climb down. If I remember correctly the canyon near the Picnic Area was pretty tagged up too unfortunately.
I like waterfalls
These are some nice ones when it's hot out!
How deep is mill creek
It's couple feet! Deep enough have a good soak, but I wouldn't try jumping from above
@nature_exploring thank you bro appreciate it
@nature_exploring also bro how far is it from the parking lot?
@@nerihugo5 It's maybe half a mile if you go from the hidden springs parking area, but you need to find the way I point to to climb down, which isn't obvious unless you know to look for it. It's about a mile from the monkey canyon if you start there and is probably more overgrown that way, but it doesn't require climbing down anything steep.
Great place.! ❤❤❤
