That bright glassy reverb in all the presets at the end literally hurts my ears. I wonder if the reverb has an adjustable eq somewhere in the menu? ...or is that what the "filter" knob in the fx section is for.
I love presets! They start at places I couldn't get to in a million years, and send me to places that I probably never would have visited. These sound pretty good, and pretty cool. The more the tweakier, I say.
My UNO Synth Pro + Faderfox EC4 = UNO Synth Pro X (More or less). Does require a few hours of set up on the EC4. otherwise, zero cost to me because I already have the EC4 which I use to control Ableton and numerous hardware and software synths.
Apologies if you answered this in the video, but I searched the subtitles and didn't see a mention of it: On the envelopes (as an example), given that the knobs are pots and not encoders, what happens when you switch to a different envelope and then turn one of the ADSR knobs? Does it wait to "pick up" the patch value when the knob reaches that value, or does it immediately change the patch value to wherever the knob is pointing when you start to turn it?
Some nice improvements, particularly the interface. Nothing ground breaking, but a good feature set. Llike the Uno Synth Pro, it sounds really good. Would like to see a keyboard version with an even more expanded interface, a fully realized performance instrument.
Great video...thank you. In the 'Seq transpose' section at 27:58, you mention activating the scale function....how do you activate the scale function....I can't see it in the manuals or anywhere obvious on the interface?
Did they solve the issue with the noise that behaves different with the volume knob (80% +-) and the bugs with the filter link not saving properly + the bug not saving lfo sync(saved like a global paramter)? Did they iron out the clicky envelopes and the little frequency artefact leaking trough that occurs with snappy bass notes when held on?
As a big fan of the IK Multimedia's Uno Synth Pro sound and duo-filter config, this is encouraging to see...at least until I saw they won't do an X full-sized keys version. Would be curious if they fixed/updated the envelope behavior where filter envelope values are carried over to the next key press/envelope retrigger (like traditional analog mono synths), instead of 1) digitally resetting with every key press or 2) only triggering once with legato playing. That very digital behavior was really my biggest complaint about the previous version of the synth. Regardless, glad to see they're addressing some of the shortcomings other folks had. Have to admit, though I didn't mind the previous matrix SO much, I would prefer knobs.
If I understand your question correctly, yes, there's a legato mode where playing legato doesn't retrigger the envelopes (unless you turn on the retrigger setting per envelope)
Out here in the fields it will be great to play with the Who no Synth Pro. Thank you for your impressive, always helpful and in depth tuts. Who's next?
I don't know why but I want this and the Korg Drumlogue. I think they would pair quite nicely with each other. Gotta love the fx engines on both of these machines.
I looked at the drumlogue but it reviews say it's noisy USB power. Read carefully. Normally, I would say meh to that, but after getting the Roland tr6s and finding it useless as a sound module, i would recommend buying carefully. Triggering the unit via USB is not practical.
@darinz7182 I recently bought one (Drumlogue) and I'm glad that I waited only because it allowed me to get it for $300. It's not noisy at all. It's a bit of a menu dive but if you're used to Korg products It's a quick learning curve and you can get some great sounds out of it through channel filters and other effects. So I think I will pick this synth up when my birthday gets here this summer.
I wish someone would create a more west coast synth in a format like this.. I have a microvolt that I adore, but it is frustrating that there is nothing with a competent sequencer like this exists. Not everyone can afford a music easel for five grand.. wavefolders are so interesting to me.. I wish they got more love like filters do.
That Baba O'Riley reprise is epic!!! I wrote the Unos off after the lame first one and was too busy with Eurorack. But the X seems amazing for the price. Just shot a used one today in Germany. Can't wait!
Oh man, hearing the exact sound of The Who gave me chills. Looks like a great little machine. But I think I'll pass it, seeing the cheap mushy buttons that I recognise of the Korg Nano's. (Do they feel the same too?)
@loopop That kinda defeats the purpose if I want to minimize a desktop setup and want to control more machines more swiftly and efficient and at the same time. Already using a keyboard and its sequencer for other instances. I would constantly have to switch its midi channel. And to buy a very premium midi keyboard that's able to split keyboard with midi channels, would mean this synth only gets even more expensive. A machine needs to have decent controls on its own though. Workarounds shouldn't be.
There was a strange feeling left from the video about this synthesizer. The skills seem to be quite good, but they look and sound a little like a toy or a VST. It doesn't feel like you're looking at a real analog beast.
09:25 They can fine tune it they said? Well, I got the first UNO Synth and it has the same problem with oscillator bleed. After 2 iterations they still got the same problem- don't trust IK Multimedia and their quality control.
Can anyone here let me know if the HOLD function works also when not using the ARP? Meaning, can i simply use it to Latch a note and have it playing indefinitely?
100 more expensive? Yes, with the Fatar keyboard version of the Pro. At Thomann in Germany the Pro desktop sells for 277 and the new X for 589. That's double the price!
No, the desktop version was sold for 399$ when it shipped. It's been almost 3 years since it first shipped, I don't know if you noticed but everything since then is much more expensive (New products) Also, 30 knobs instead of 8, much more buttons and 2 more effects processors has its price...
@@xfghffhfg I am talking about current prices. And because of Germany, in Euro. Current price for the desktop is € 277, not $ 399. And I know it's more hands-on and therefor more user friendly, but that is not my point. Point was the mentioning that it's $ 100 more expensive than the Uno Pro desktop, which at this moment, is not true. It's € 312 more expensive and whatever current exchange rate you throw at it, that wil always be more than 'only' $ 100. If it was only $ 100 more expensive, it would be absolutely worth it, as you say, it has much more hardware components and is way more hands-on.
@@GertBoers You wrote "That's double the price!", I understand that you meant it's not priced right so i point out why the price differs. If you just wanted to mention the price differences with no resentment to the IK set price, yes, it's double now, or triple from the first one :)
Hi, I use MOscilloscope and MAnalyzer by a company called Melda - they’re free with some limitations in the MFreeFXBundle. Occasionally I’ll use scopes by VCV
Because of your video I had a look at a few other tests and I have to say that the filters sound really good. Especially the VCF resonance of the 24 db filter sounds great. So you would absolutely recommend the Pro X?
Glad it was useful! I don't absolutely recommend anything ;) I think in a way synths are like cars, there's no right one for everyone, and different features appeal to different people. What matters is what inspires you to take one for a fun ride!
Nothing changed, some bugs are part of any digitally controlled/complex synths but now somebody is pointing them out. I still have some 90's synths with bugs that will probably never resolv and if they do, it will be by reverse engineering and changing chips, not a simple firmware update. Many companies add features and requested features by users along the years and breathe new spirit into old instruments.
These factory presets... they sure play to the synth's strength, don't they? Very interesting device, even if it seems to be a touch on the one-trick-pony side.
This is so fleshed out now ! Please give us a full size version with velocity that isn’t red and it’s a done deal! IK is getting their thing together on a synth engine that has always SOUNDED great.👽✌️
All I see in the UI is a front panel of mid 1990s gps navigation device. With fingers like I have live performance would fly out the window due to countless accidental pushes.

True, never understood the "initial preset" people :)
My UNO Synth Pro + Faderfox EC4 = UNO Synth Pro X (More or less). Does require a few hours of set up on the EC4. otherwise, zero cost to me because I already have the EC4 which I use to control Ableton and numerous hardware and software synths.
Great review
Preset walk-through is a must have part of any review
Apologies if you answered this in the video, but I searched the subtitles and didn't see a mention of it: On the envelopes (as an example), given that the knobs are pots and not encoders, what happens when you switch to a different envelope and then turn one of the ADSR knobs? Does it wait to "pick up" the patch value when the knob reaches that value, or does it immediately change the patch value to wherever the knob is pointing when you start to turn it?
you can choose one of three modes - relative, passthru or immediate changes (the default)
Some nice improvements, particularly the interface. Nothing ground breaking, but a good feature set. Llike the Uno Synth Pro, it sounds really good. Would like to see a keyboard version with an even more expanded interface, a fully realized performance instrument.
Those presets sure are leaning on the reverb.
Great video...thank you. In the 'Seq transpose' section at 27:58, you mention activating the scale function....how do you activate the scale function....I can't see it in the manuals or anywhere obvious on the interface?
Thanks! It's in the settings menu
@@loopopThank you!
Well done UNO. they keep perfecting the synth.
Its a new synth so different firmware
Wow they finally made something decent I’ve never even considered them until now but I really like the 303 sound it produces
Their previous synths were also decent
Who's next?
😉
“Under an hour”…..
Technically correct. 10/10 had a chuckle.
You do a great service to the synth community. I had zero interest in anything from this company, but this one is changing my mind a little.
Is there any hope that a UNO DRUM PRO will arrive as well?
Yes, would love to see that
I don't know why but I want this and the Korg Drumlogue.
So I think I will pick this synth up when my birthday gets here this summer.
just bought one. everyone seems to be into the pro x!
A very epic intro for a great tutorial! ✌️🐸👍
Ohhhhh jus tuned in:) watching now! Excited
I'll keep an eye on this one... if there is firmware updates in the coming year, I'll know for sure if IK is a company worth investing in...
The closest we've got at this point is the West Pest by Cre8audio
@@thejoshuathomas yes... Not even close really.. imagine plocking a lpf... That would be dope.
I love those little screens! I wish it was on the Roland S-1, it would make that little synth perfect.
Go with the Roland SH-4d
That Baba O'Riley reprise is epic!!!
I wrote the Unos off after the lame first one and was too busy with Eurorack. But the X seems amazing for the price. Just shot a used one today in Germany. Can't wait!
Your videos are wonderful
Oh man, hearing the exact sound of The Who gave me chills. Looks like a great little machine. But I think I'll pass it, seeing the cheap mushy buttons that I recognise of the Korg Nano's. (Do they feel the same too?)
You don't have a good midi keyboard?
The built-in keyboard is for sequencing/"emergency playing only" - you really want to connect a keyboard to this to play it properly
@@PANTA-Music There's an entire industry that begs to differ, but I understand that it might not fit your specific preferred workflow.
@@PANTA-Music many desktop synths don’t have keyboards at all - but yes, it is what it is
Baba o Riley str8 out the gate! 🔥
reckon they're planning probability, time divisions, or preset lock per step? or is that not on the cards?
There was a strange feeling left from the video about this synthesizer. The skills seem to be quite good, but they look and sound a little like a toy or a VST. It doesn't feel like you're looking at a real analog beast.
Not enough fake wood for you?
I returned mine, didnt like the sound at all, any behringer mono synth sounds better and fatter
this "object" looks very interesting... To be continued, for me, these days... IK are building very interesting solutions... Yes ! 👌
Thank you, the demo was very helpful!
Brilliant review as usual 👌🏼
That’s the first ik synth that looks decent imo. Nice progress ik 👍🏼
Best intro ever!
09:25 They can fine tune it they said? Well, I got the first UNO Synth and it has the same problem with oscillator bleed. After 2 iterations they still got the same problem- don't trust IK Multimedia and their quality control.
Not sure how many units IK have sold already, but at least 37,000 of them are thanks to the first 90 seconds of this video.
No one mentioned your beautiful rendition of teenage wasteland 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Can anyone here let me know if the HOLD function works also when not using the ARP?
Meaning, can i simply use it to Latch a note and have it playing indefinitely?
out here in the fields!
Great review and a great version of 'Baba' .Pete would love it.
Thanks!
Really amazing, and the X sounds so great with it.
@@loopopits like halfway between The Who and the Pet Shop Boys cover of "Where the streets have no name"
Did the song mode go away with Uno Synth Pro X?
is there a keyboard version incoming?
Thanks for previewing the presets!
Have they added song mode yet?
Just love the arp on this ...
The hydrasynth explorer you suggested at the end is here in Germany actually cheaper than the Synth Pro X not more expensive.
Sounds great! 👍
It's not cheaper. At least not at Thomann.
Hydrasynth would be more interesting imo
@@stjepan_8902 The hydrasynth explorer was 500 and the uno x 530€ back then.
Q. sequencer:
1. pattern chaining
2. song mode
3. probability of steps?
4. ratchet of notes?
No to all
Have you had any trouble selecting the sequencer page?
Not at all
18:05 Oh, pity it doesn’t go to 11
kinda Synton Syrinx pocketsize. Very cool .
Love the Who intro :)!
100 more expensive? Yes, with the Fatar keyboard version of the Pro. At Thomann in Germany the Pro desktop sells for 277 and the new X for 589. That's double the price!
No, the desktop version was sold for 399$ when it shipped.
It's been almost 3 years since it first shipped, I don't know if you noticed but everything since then is much more expensive (New products)
Also, 30 knobs instead of 8, much more buttons and 2 more effects processors has its price...
What is that software with which you monitor the sound waves?
Hi, I use MOscilloscope and MAnalyzer by a company called Melda - they’re free with some limitations in the MFreeFXBundle. Occasionally I’ll use scopes by VCV
@@loopop, thank you! 🙂
I feel like these companies keep us in perpetual BETA-Tester-Mode. #Consumerism #IKMultimedia #V2MK3ProXDeluxe
Damn, hit that who baba Oriley 😂
This thing is gonna be on a lot of desks

These factory presets... they sure play to the synth's strength, don't they?
Very interesting device, even if it seems to be a touch on the one-trick-pony side.
are you pitching your voice down in this video? I had to x1.25 for your voice to sound normal
No… maybe it’s some odd UA-cam bug
With these big sounds it would be awesome if they’d released a poly version.
I love this cheap lil Synth but I’m waiting to catch one for 300 wish the build was better
The bleed over and drift stuff in the semi beginning of this should be an option...sounds like a mistake that could be a vintage vibe setting
I'm thinking about thinking to get it right away before prices go up😅
Sound poor and plastic, with so much reverb. With developers like IK, I prefer still on VST's... Thanks for an extensive review.

I liked my UNO synth, but its resale value was crap, when you decide to trade up...
So keep it :)
Beautiful. I’m interested.
This is so fleshed out now ! Please give us a full size version with velocity that isn’t red and it’s a done deal! IK is getting their thing together on a synth engine that has always SOUNDED great.👽✌️
