I am in Florida zone 10 a and do the same thing with a fish emulsion fertilizer , I use one cup per gallon water and vary the amount used per the size of the tree.

Hello, I see that you have quite a few avocado trees in containers. I was wondering how often you recommend that I fertilize my avocado trees in 24” boxes? I typically use the Dr. Earth organic fruit tree fertilizer when I do fertilize. After flowering I do also periodically use a fish/kelp/molasses foliar feed on the leaves as well. Thanks.
I like to fertilize every other month
I live in Aliso Viejo and have a bacon. Is this the time they are flowering or is flowering maybe next month? With normal vegetables N will cause the plant to focus too much on growth vs fruit production. I'm new to the avocado game. I bought a house with a bacon and a girdled hass that I want to cut down to 3' and then graft on a couple of scions. JB is on the top of the list.
In spring, avocado trees, like to flower, and like to flush out new growth, giving them a diluted amount of fish fertilizer. Every few weeks is not going to stop the flowering, but will help push leaves to cover the tree later in the summer. That’s my experience here.

#1: How old were the trees in your video that are showing signs of budding/flowering?
#2: I have some fish emulsion fertilizer that I used last spring and summer which I've saved in my garage so it's been in a cool and dry place all fall and winter. Do you recommend I get fresh fish fertilizer for this spring/summer or is it okay to use one that has been opened for several months?
#3: I have two year old avocado plants that are ~4-5 ft and have lots of leaves and buds. How do you recommend I prune the trees to encourage stem thickening and more budding outwards instead of allowing them to keep growing taller?

My leaves are turning the same color and half have fallen. I do see new growth but is this normal ?
Yes it’s 100% normal. Don’t throw those leaves away put them underneath the trees or in the containers so they will continue to mulch themselves.
Have any of your potted trees been harvested yet?
I heard you do not fertilize when flowering?
My trees fruit but always abort. This year I’m going to water more in hopes that I may finally harvest

One deep watering every few weeks is what I like. I’m not saying that’s what is recommended. It’s just what I do.
@@TheElsinoreGardener Thanks for the tips! I've heard of this product for vegetable gardening, but I've never used it. My tree drops leaves like crazy once it starts flowering, so I'm definitely going to give this a try.

Are you doing full strength Fish Emulsion, or diluting?
Follow the recommendations on the label and that should be fine. On larger trees I add a little bit more than the recommended amount and make sure I get it over a wider area of the upper feeder root area.
How much fish fertilzer should I use on my trees in five gallon pots?
Just use the recommended amount per gallon on the container. Water deeply every few weeks between regular watering
