Thank you for explaining these terms and conditions! I have type 1 diabetes for 11 years and just heard of IC ratio, correction factor, and duration of insulin as I plan to start the Omnipod 5 this week (have all the stuff, elearning done, just waiting for rep). I asked my Endo if we could have a talk about what numbers to plug in (as they are prescribed by the doc) and she responds that she will prescribe it when the rep comes in!!! How does she know the amount of carbs I eat and how the insulin and blood sugar behaves? No talk, Endo will prescribe it on that day. I don’t know of this for 11 years - I randomly take insulin and have major lows when I eat everything but the kitchen sink!

Don’t be afraid to try new doctors. I’ve had type 1 for over 20 years, and 7 different doctors for my type 1, (lots of moving).
The doctors are not the same. Be willing to shop around or ask other type 1. To find the doctors that stay current with the latest treatment options for Type 1. To avoid getting in a routine of the same treatment and missing out on advances and tools for Type 1.

I was having trouble managing my B.S. for about a year. Seeing an endocrinologist corrected my hyperglycemia in one day!

When I was first diagnosed they gave me metformin which was working so great I stopped testing and went about life. After a few weeks I was in the ICU with DKA. Moral of my story don’t stop testing even when something seems to be working.
My symptoms were soaking night sweats, leg cramps, and frequent urination, I had no idea why I was having them.

Thanks much for the great video, I always enjoy watching your content. I'd also like to point out that (at least here in the US), insulin costs have finally become reasonable for those without insurance. When I got my first box of basal pens, and saw the price tag, I was shocked. But now, a one-month supply should only be $35 (again, here in the US).

You’re very welcome. Yes insulin price caps have been very helpful as well as the generics that have helped run competitive company costs lower.

A very informative video. I worry when somebody suddenly stops posting. I'm glad to see you're back and appear to be doing well.

Thanks Dan. I took a little bit of a break to prioritize participation in charitable events. I’ve actually done 5 in the last 2 months. It’s always good to give back.

I love using the bolus system even though I'm not on a insulin pump. I get better control of my bs levels than using the old sliding scale. With the dex g7 it has help me to learn how my body is doing according to bs level is and now I can guess bs without looking at my phone or watch. Still keep up with it but nice being able to know what's going on.

Also you will learn that insulin/carb ratio changes throughout the day not always only due to physical activity.
I need a lot more insulin in the evening per carb than I do in the afternoon.
Being out in the sun seems to bring my sugars down even if I’m just lounging.
    There are so many variables!

I see you’re using Omnipod and Dexcom G7. Are the Omnipods that can use Dexcom G7 different from the pods that use Dexcom G6? I currently use the G7 and do mdi using the InPen. However, I’m waiting to see if my insurance covers Omnipod and was told I would have to go back to Dexcom G6.

Its true the Omnipod 5 is only compatible with Dexcom g6 for automated mode. I use it with g7 in manual mode for more control.

Hi just love all your content. This video really hit home as I was diagnosed type 2 at 18 I am now 47. Sugars were never good. I took meds here and there. Living on bs 400 and 500/ Got pregnant at 28 then doctors were worried about my dibetes. Was hospitalized to get me on insulin regimine. I don't remember what year it was but I got diagnosed with type 1. Then was able to get the medtronic pump. I am now on Dexcom g6 and omnipod 5. I am due for phone upgrade. Been samsung for years but watching your videos i remember you talking bout apple being so close to watches taking bs without blood. I got the s24 but it is saying not compatible with omnipod. I believe if apple would be better option i can trade. I would love your input!

Do you have any insider info on when the Omnipod iPhone app will finally be released??
I’m getting very very sick of the receiver that comes with the system 😩

I spoke with an Omnipod rep a few days ago. There still isn’t a definitive date. I’m getting impatient also.

Other advice I have. Don’t let your family practice doc manage your diabetes.
If you’re diagnosed, go to a specialist (endocrinologist)
Mine tried with me and I almost died as a result, only then they referred me to an endo.

I have been to 4 endos over 7 years. The first doc to help manage my T2 is my GP. He wanted me to go to an endo and refused. They all wanted to medicate me and what I needed was insulin.
