Not really tbh. Bad crowds just react anytime you get louder. I've heard people go wild over terrible solos cause it's just a trumpet player playing something really high, meanwhile other people play very melodic and beautiful solos and no one blinks. We need to teach people to listen as much as we teach them to play.
@@marciamakesmusic If people like it, it's a good solo. I don't think there is any need to go around judging every solo based around on some arbitrary standard of good.
Dear Mr. (or potentially Mrs. or whatever you may use) Aredtyg, Respectfully, I have no idea what you're trying to get at. I would greatly appreciate an elaboration from you soon, Mr. Aredtyg, and until then, I bid you the best. Sincerely, Some kid

Well he might be playing in drop D, because the 4th of the groove is D. That would be a good choice on the bassists part, as it gives a solid lower foundation for the groove
About the: "not sure how he played a D but it was definetely played" There's a way to play lower notes as sub harmonics. Just play the note you want and a fifth above in the low E string. He probably played the D on 10th fret on E string and the fifth (A at 12th fret 3rd string). And you have to play it using the "face" of your finger, not using the tip of the finger. That technique creates a sub harmonic sound! It's not hard to do it!
I appreciate you sharing that trick (definitely about to go try it), but I think he just has his bass tuned down to D. Not sure what all the mystery is about.
@@JoshuaWillis89 i'd say i got it down except the part where the band comes back in, that being said i simply got too lazy for the rest once i got down that one fast lick a while back. i'll get to it again tho because there's definitely still something to take away from that part, thanks for asking!

You can use the crowd as a “stankometer” the louder the crowd, the stankier the solo

Joe Dart is so good he doesn't even need a 5 string to play a low D
I mean, neither does anyone else when you are tuned to drop-D or D standard.
To be fair when I listened it could arguably be a low E

woah that's crazy shit thanks for telling how it's done lmao
I wonder whether this is to do with intermodulation distortion, which is also why playing chords with overdrive pedals often sounds super muddy
I appreciate you sharing that trick (definitely about to go try it), but I think he just has his bass tuned down to D. Not sure what all the mystery is about.
We obviously can only see the back of his hand, but it looks and sounds more like playing an open string than a fancy power chord.
it’s medically impossible to talk through this bass solo
