Thanks man, I messed with it about 6 seconds before I looked it up and saw your vid. I have no tolerance for any kind of bs. Lined it and it a little better than it was.
I bought my daughter a Zebco rod and closed face reel combo a couple years ago. It's 6' and a bluegill machine. That rod casts a mile and is a joy to fish on a hot summer day. She also has a Shakespeare Rainbow Rod... it all plastic yet she caught a 10 pound sheepshead on Lake Erie with it. She'c caught more fish on that Rainbow rod than I've caught on all my rods! A little maintenance on these reels, they will still last a long time!
I also bought a 202 reel for our daughter to use and put it on a 5 and 1/2 foot zebco rod ..She had not fished since she was little about 6 years old and when we went a few weeks ago she was the only one who caught the fish ..a blue gill and a small less than a foot long channel cat
Amazing layout of the info and you are 100% right sir, there is not enough info on the newest models of the reels. I just picked one up so I could fish with a bobber on my favorite casting rod, but I felt the need to put my black grease in it so the reel would operate more smoothly.
I am leery of the nylon semi housing. The nut that holds the crank on is merely a nylon washer that is munged on to the axle. It looks like M3 threads. two nuts with a lockwasher would be a significant upgrade but what can youexpect for twenty bucks?
yes sir.....i have 3 of the zebco 404's red gold black and gray..the red is for my wife....and you were right they don't come grease...but i had a little problem taking bottom part off...i thought it would break too....but also i learn a different way from watching you...which is a little better then i was doing....for the price they or good reel's...but anyway thank you sir for the video......god bless..........
I busted my Butt for over an hour the other day tying to take an old one apart -- i gave up and tossed it in the Scrap Drawer - i might give it another try now cause i know it needs some lube inside. Thanks for this video. Them Chinese are laughing at us i am sure LOL
It would be awesome if you put the link to the video you mentioned where you removed the bell on this type of reel so I don’t have to scroll through 10,000 useless videos.
Every channel has a Search Box Just click on the Little symbol that looks like a magnifying glass type in Zebco reel and hit enter Sorry you find my other videos useless
Thank you so much I just got this rod and did some mumbo jumbo and didn't know what to do and you helped kudos
I really needed to take mine apart after a novice made a mess of it. Now my Zebco 404 is better than new. THANKS!
at 5:35 he references he had shown how he removed the spool cover. nowhere in this video did i see that.

Thanks for watching ..I enjoy sharing stuff like taking apart this reel ..It took me a few minutes to figure out how to get it apart

Thank you! I was having a bear of a time taking apart our two ZEBCO 606 reels to grease them up.
Glad I could help!

Thanks for figuring it out. I was about to give up after the first three videos I watched didn't know the trick either.

Oh man just got mine a few days ago. This helped. Thanks 🙏🏿
I spent 4 hours fucking around around with a old 404 but this made it better
On some of these type of reels that is a screw though, that runs all the way through the assembly and holds it down. Each one can be different
thanks for the video.....your right these reels come with no grease on them....
Thanks for watching ..I like to put my own brand of grease in them
How do you reassemble it?
Hard to beat the old favorite Zebco. With a little maintenance they are last and last.
The price of these are cheap enough that I just had to get one and have some fun
You were a big help
Thanks for watching
Oh, so it's got a pickup pin nowadays. The older models have a scalloped spinner.
Is there any way to change the gearing??
NO
Can it be ordered the body other parts for the reel
I think no..It would be cheaper to just buy another reel

It would be nice if you used a pointer instead of a finger. I have no idea which finger your are pointing with.
