The old one sounds Clearer! But the New Boombox's Bass is so Extreme!
The old one might sound clearer, but as he said the highs can be a little ear-piercing at times and especially at high volumes, the Boombox 2 is a slight bit better in flattening out that problem. This is just my opinion and I like the boombox 1 too, but I think the 2 sounds better.
Yes, you can deal with this with equalizer in your device. You cannot do that with the original boombox.

I have the first one. I have had it since I think it was 2019 and its the camouflaged color one as well. Its still an awesome speaker really. 2 sounds awesome too though. Most people who have never heard the speaker and then they hear it for the first time they are always surprised how loud it can actually get. Which I have learned also loud is not everything either. Surround sound is also important and bass too. However, the Boombox is pretty nice for what it is.
If your not an audiophile like me you'll disagree but the Boombox 2 actually sounds a bit better. Lots of people are saying the old one sounds better, but its simply the oversimplification of treble. The Boombox 2 sounds more balanced and true to life. The bass was also a main priority in this speaker. I would still buy the partybox 100 instead. It is bigger, more powerful, and is $200 less, even though idd still prefer the sound of the boombox 2.

Very good comparison test. I agree that it's not worth upgrading to the Boombox 2 at this point. When they can boost the power and keep the bass/mid/treble clear and the bass not cancel out the highs I would upgrade. Thanks!

Every time you do a review on the Boombox, the original one, you always play some songs with the indoor mode, and some without. I think it would be a lot better if you did indoor, switch to the other speaker, then when you come back, switch to outdoor so we can hear how both modes sound on one song, instead of one mode for each song, as to get a better listen on which mode is better and how it sounds. Great review though!👍👌
Some times I do that but not always. It just takes a lot recording every song twice on the same speaker so some times I get lazy 😅

Awesome review buddy, you did really great job here! If one wants smoother bass, just lower ~80Hz band by 3-4dB on your equalizer, and you get much flatter response I would guess.

I still like the older Boombox 1 more. I was choosing from the Boombox and the Boombox 2 and i got the original one. It was pretty easy to choose from when the Boombox costs 250€ and the Boombox 2 costs 500€. That basically means i could have gotten 2 Boomboxes for a price of one Boombox 2. But i don't think i need two Boomboxes, one is loud enough for me.

On headphones you can really hear a significant upgrade in the bass. Sounds a lot better in the boombox 2.
My opinion is that if you need headphones to tell the difference of The Boombox2 vs Boombox1 (A speaker made for party/outdoor listening, not headphones) then the less expensive first model is the way to go. I came here because I own and Love the Boombox 1, and wanted to see if I wanted to "upgrade". I made the decision on the purchase of my Boombox 1 partially based on DLX Willington's review back then. He has Great reviews, with Honest Opinions, which is why I came here to check his opinion of Boombox2.
DLX Willington saved $$ for me this time, and I'll continue to love and use my Boombox1 which is still kickin' it and going strong!

I don’t really understand your question. What I’m saying is that this is a party type speaker, not for use with headphones in normal use. So if you need headphones to tell the difference between the two, why not stick with the less expensive 1st one?
Plus I like the indoor/outdoor settings, which I understand the new one does not have.
@@KayakMark34 dude, you need headphones to tell the difference because otherwise the speaker of your device will most likely be the limiting factor to the sound quality you're hearing. Not to mention that the quality of the playback has already been reduced by going through the microphone so even with headphones the sound difference between the speakers is compromised.

They should've kept it in jbl connect because it doesn't make sense why all jbl speakers can't connect together if there from the same company same brand and I have the xtreme 1 so if I get any more it will suck since I can't connect any of the new ones to it
Agree with you. I still hope, that Samsung(Harman) will make an update for Xtreme 1 when Xtreme 3 will be released on CES2020 (unfortunately, there won't be ces2020 because of covid) damn.

True, JBL had killed sales because of this stupidity. I own charge 3 and xtreme 1 . I am using JBL connect on both speaker and waiting for connect + software upgrade on xtreme 1 to connect to boombox 1. Untill then, I am not going to buy boombox.
I have a speaker request!!! The Divoom Macchiato. It sounds simply incredible for the size. The jbl go, and sony xb12 can be considered competitors size wise. I want to see a comparison between the Macchiato and some other similar sized speakers.

The JBL Boombox one has a low-frequency mode that you can turn on that basically makes the passive radiators move to same way as the new one and have a lower bass response so you might like to check that out
That is a service mode that you are not supposed to ever use unless you want to destroy your speaker

Just bought Boombox 2. Firmware update please! Do you feel like there is not enough midbass? It seems like a songs bass hits without much punch and then you just hear the remaining lower bass.

Boombox 2 is really an upgrade in terms of sound.
The bass is clearer and punchy compared to the old guy.
The treble part is also better (well for me).
but the highs are really aurible on the 2 how can you say that

I bought the boombox 2 today. And I am very happy with it. Boombox 2 may not be that lound however i love that deep deep low end bass. Because i am a bass head myself the boombox 2 is my favorite.

I'm pretty sure I just paid 279.00 for one on Amazon (tried to check the price but the way they itemize their receipts is ridiculous). Did I miss out on some kind of extra promotion? Also, did you get yours yet? Mine came in today. I wasn't very happy with the sound but so I installed the JL app assuming it would have an equalizer, it doesn't, worthless app. I found an equalizer on my phone which works pretty well though. After some adjustments I'm pretty happy with the sound but I am used to more defined highs. I am considering returning it but I'll test it for a few more days before I decide.

The boombox 2 sounds slightly better than the boombox 1 with slightly deeper bass. But the boombox 1 is a little louder and clear than the boombox 2 just because it has sharper highs and inprove mids. The boombox 2 in max volume it can get a little earpiercing
Hi mate. I'been stock in choosing between JBL Boom Box and Marshall woburn II. Which one do you think have better performance in sound quality? Currently I have JBL Boom Box which has a great base, not as much natural as I expected but good, and of sound clarity and being crispy lovely. Do you think it's worth to swap from my JBL to Marshall? Does Marshall have deeper and more natural base in max volume? What about sound clarity?

for shoppers: putting clips of audio comparisons in UA-cam videos is nice and all but it in no way shape or form can allow one to determine which speaker is best without actually listening to them in person - I have these speakers in front of me at the moment and there's so much information that is being presented that doesn't get communicated via a UA-cam video - do yourselves a favor and buy both and return the one you don't like - thank me later
In Russia, boombox2 is not yet sold, but they say when it appears it will cost about $ 500, but the first one is sold in official stores for $ 180-200, I bought it for $ 190 and am very happy. As for the bass on boombox2, in the video it seems not to spread linearly but in jerks, maybe this video conveys this way, but I liked the sound of the first one more.

I drive a opel van for work and I'm not happy with the current sound system. Sure the steering wheel controls and bluetooth are handy but the quality of the sound has been a big dissepointment. I don't want to upgrade the system because I have to return the car in 3 years. Do you reckon using this boombox in my car would be a good idea?

Hey what about comparing teufel boomster with for example xtreme2? It's amazing for it's price.
I noticed that you forgot to display whether the original Boombox was playing in indoor or outdoor mode when you were doing the test inside. I also noticed you didn't happen to play Sun's Rise, which is a good song, considering the Boombox is a bass heavy speaker, and so is the song, which would have made a great test of bass performance. When testing outside, you should move the camera and microphone around, as you go outdoors to do activities and may not always be staying in one place, and a review of how it sounds from different angles could be very helpful to out goers to hear how it sounds from difference angles so they can be sure they can enjoy there music even if they are not sitting or are not present in front of the speaker.👍

I have an xtreme 2 and boombox 1 and its a great combo, I was thinking about upgrading to the boombox 2 and xtreme 3 because the xtreme 3 has usb-c charging but that's a lot of money
Boombox is currently $259.99 new. Can't see buying Boombox 2 when the performance difference isn't that big, but the price difference is that big.
The boombox 2 love the boombox 2. It has great thumping bass. To me i will go for the boombox 2 handsdown.

If i already have 2 JBL Xtreme 2, 2 Charge 4, 1 Flip 4, 1 PartyBox 100 and 1 Flip 5, does it make sense to buy 1 or 2 old or new JBL boombox speakers to increase the sound quality and loudness of my portable system? How come you didn’t activate the low frequency mode on the boombox 2 that they show in other videos?
I believe all hour ratings are based at 50% volume. I could be wrong
