I highly appreciate that you mean it to JBL BOOMBOX3. However, the biggest difference between portable Bluetooth speakers and Wi-Fi speakers is that Wi-Fi signals with large transmission data consume a lot of power. In particular, low-power wireless Bluetooth signals are a must-have option for battery-mounted portable models. To use the JBL BOOMBOX3 Wi-Fi, you must plug it in and use the DC power plug. This is because when using Wi-Fi as a battery mode, battery usage time is significantly reduced compared to when using Bluetooth. This is because power consumption is high. And I think it's a better choice for the Dolby Atmos-enabled Wi-Fi speaker to buy the JBL Authentic 500 and use it indoors as a regular fixture, and just use it if there is an existing Boom Box 3.
So chromecast, Airplay, Alexa or Spotify have no interest to you. That's fine. Other people might find it useful for a speaker that probably sounds pretty nice in the home. Just because it doesn't fit your use pattern doesn't mean others won't find it useful. Not to mention better sound quality over wifi than BT.
Not having partyboost killed this purchase for me. I bought the BB3 non wifi because of this. Also, mostly use Spotify so no hifi audio for me which is paying more for.... Not much really.
I have 1 of my Camo BoomBox 1 left, sold the other earlier this year and now I’ve seen the Boombox 3 in Costco for £250! Decisions! Luckily it’s the Bluetooth with Aux.
Today 5/20/2024 I bought the BB3 wifi at Best Buy for $399.00. Both OG and wifi were on sale for the same price. I actually got mine for 366.00 because it was an open box in excellent cond. Charging cord wasn't even unwrapped. I totally spaced out on it not having the Aux. port until I got home. Decided to test drive it anyway. Bluetooth works great and I got at least 50ft away with obstructed line of sight with no connection or cut out problem. The speaker really likes the wifi but does very well on Bluetooth. I've got a couple Months to make up my mind. As for now I'm happy with it. It's rockin' a 3500sq. ft. area in my shop pretty well at about 65% volume.
Exactly!!! I use my speaker with dj controller for small park parties via an aux input now that’s not possible anymore with the wifi edition ! Thru my work I got an offer of 350 euro for both the Bluetooth and WiFi editions but I decided go with the Bluetooth one .. the whole point of this speaker is to be able to play music outside :)
I just received the WiFi version of the JBL Boombox 3 an hour ago. I initially wanted it to enable me to plug in directly, but unfortunately, that's not possible with the WiFi model. What a bummer! This seemed like a deal breaker-until I found a workaround. Years ago, I purchased a simple Bluetooth transmitter, the Avantree Oasis (It's currently less than $40 on Amazon). While it doesn’t have an app or much of a visual interface, it does allow me to use an aux cable to send a signal to the JBL via Bluetooth. I watched a quick UA-cam tutorial on using the Avantree Oasis as a transmitter. By holding down the pair button on both devices, they connected successfully. Hallelujah! It’s not the ideal solution, but it works. The Avantree Oasis needs USB power, which I can get from my Denon Prime Go. I can then plug the aux cable from my Denon Prime Go into the Avantree Oasis and stream the audio to the JBL over Bluetooth. So, while I was looking for a wireless solution without plugging in, I achieved it with this workaround.

@berniecolin7 thats what i want to find out. I know the bluetooth boombox 3 can pair in stereo so hopefully its the same. Costco has the best return policy so im not too worried.
The difference in sound is very subtle. It is seen that the difference of 2 Watts on Tweeter's Wi-Fi version made a good blend of high mid-range and highs over the Bluetooth version. It sounds slithy clearer than the Bluetooth version. Maybe for that reason, you feel ear fatigue. too much boosting of these frequencies produces that and for some people can be too harsh. In another video, you said that you usually use that speaker at a low volume, right? It could be that your boombox still has not break-in yet?
Yeah you know that bluetooth speakers barely have a break in period. Yes they do have it. But after just a few bass songs its already broken in. And these speakers dont have the sound quality to really notice it
You don't notice it, no problem! However, it takes hundreds of hours of play before any speaker loosens up and plays at it's full potential. Especially with quality speakers that are made to last.
Listening to both speakers through my new Bose Quiet Comfort Earphones and I cannot tell the difference between the 2! They both sound amazing to me. Very clean and some nice base.
@pretty_bored Only 6 months for a reply I'm glad you were bored. I didn't think about usb being 5 volts across the board. I have a power inverter if it needs charged on the go
I just seen that the boombox 3 Wifi was on sale for 399.00 so I decided to take back the Sony XG-300 and purchase the JBL, what a mistake that was. I should have listened to you about the EAR FATIGUE that this speaker puts out. Anything past half way is tinny and harsh in my opinion. The Sony gets a bad rap for the lack of highs but if you turn off that stupid bass boost and adjust the Eq the speaker comes alive and sounds really good (warm). Totally not knocking the JBL but its not for me. Keep up the good work on your reviews.......
the biggest worry is that they both sound the same. wifi bandwidth is insanely more than cheezy bluetooth. meaning, the clarity and quality of sound should be significant. this tells me the bottleneck is in the internal speakers being low quality. playing a flac file over wifi, you should hear a HUGE difference in sound quality over bluetooth. if they sound the same, then there's your problem. clearly jbl went the cheap route, and the wifi is likely the version that came out decades ago, likely wifi-g. still, 1300Mbps for WiFi , vs. only 3 Mbps for Bluetooth is quite huge. the fact that you dont hear the difference is worrisome on the quality of the product.
The WiFi one is tuned with less midrange boost and more deep bass. I’ve had both at the same time. The WiFi model sounds better on Bluetooth and even better in WiFi. Honestly though the atmos isn’t that great all the atmos content sounds distant and not as clear to me. Max on tidal sounds just ridiculous in it though. With eq you can get it sounding Sonos good lol
@@NewStuffTV1Thanks for the video. I’m a Dino 🦕 who has never owned a computer. I lost my boombox 3 user guide. When I press the Bluetooth button it starts blinking. What’s up with that? I use the auxiliary port on the BT version, and it sounds better than the wifi version. The BT version has crisp highs and punchy mids. The WiFi version's bass sounds drowned out and the highs/mids sound forced
Ok I’m really not understanding the WiFi part. You can stream from apps but aren’t those apps on your phone? Why not open the app on your phone and just Bluetooth to the speaker. Again, I’m actually not getting it.
Man, I can’t believe it. I bought my JBL boombox three back in October. I did not know the JBL boombox three Wi-Fi was available obviously I’m not very smart lol I did get it on sale for 399 but my only other question is I was going to buy a second one but if I buy the Wi-Fi model, will it still connect just as the party are boomboxes are are supposed to excuse me I’m dictating my message. I am blind, but truly the speaker is great with exception of the phone, call interruptions, and the Wi-Fi will eliminate that which makes it fantastic however, will it eliminate it with the speakers Connected thanks 2:332:37
My question is, can you not achieve the same audio quality as the wifi edition by utilising an aux cable with the non-wifi speaker? Basically BB3 wifi edition vs BB3 non-wifi (but connected/playing via aux cable instead of blueteooth)
@@telomnisi3048 You're welcome! Be aware that when used via aux it always has 5-6 seconds of silence before it starts to play, also you cannot play it on very low volumes, it just cuts off.
After the age of 30, we begin to hear worse and the hearing loss increases year by year - on average at a rate of 0.5 dB per year for lower tones and about 1-1.2 dB per year for higher tones.🧐 In most cases, when hearing loss occurs, high-frequency hearing deteriorates first. High-frequency hearing loss means that a person hears high-frequency sounds worse or not at all.🫡 Therefore, for me, as a 50-year-old, the sound of a boombox 3 is not bad.🤣
Boombox 3 WiFi is wayy better than standard Boombox. It's now even more on deepside, it got even more rumbling more room vibrating deepside bass. Nicer tuning. Boombox 3 WiFi is better than standard cuz it sounds more nicer not harsher anymore. The EQ even more costumizeble not restricted of (+/-) anymore.

You keep saying "The wifi bb3 has Dolby Atmos". So does the other one. Really neither of them do. But our phones do. Atleast most of us. My xbox has it too. My samsung and moto razr 2024 does. The speaker itself doesnt have Dolby atmos and even if it does, its only useful if you have a lame phone company who doesnt automatically provide you with Dolby Atmos.
Heres a little fun strange fact. you do know it goes up to 180W of power right? a normal 12 volt 1.2 amp port isnt really gonna do a lot...
@pretty_bored Only 6 months for a reply I'm glad you were bored. I didn't think about usb being 5 volts across the board. I have a power inverter if it needs charged on the go
@@1STGeneral uhhhh... What's a power inverter?
@pretty_bored 12 volts goes in and 110 volts comes out. I'm sure you knew this
@@1STGeneral no i did not but thanks I guess
How would you rate the mid range and the Twitter on the JBL boombox 3 🤷🏾♂️
Excellent 👌
the highs are better on the boombox 3 wifi
Is it me? Or does the wifi version sound better?
Can I connect my JBL Extreme 3 to JBL Boombox 3 bluetooth +Wi-Fi 🤔?
Nope
I can get the bluetooth one at a discount for €380 or the wifi version for €600, is the wifi really that much better?
So can you use it like a sound bar on your tv?
Yes
@@NewStuffTV1Thanks for the video. I’m a Dino 🦕 who has never owned a computer. I lost my boombox 3 user guide. When I press the Bluetooth button it starts blinking. What’s up with that? I thought it was a power boost button. Is there a power boost button? Is it the far left button you call the party button! Thanks for your time.
I use the auxiliary port on the BT version, and it sounds better than the wifi version. The BT version has crisp highs and punchy mids.
The WiFi version's bass sounds drowned out and the highs/mids sound forced
Ok , I’ll just gonna wait for the boombox 4
Lol! I'm thinking that's about 2 years away. I can't wait to see what they'll come up with!
Wait for what, sounds tehnology have their peak in 1970, nothing new can take for new model, Boombox 2 is best option now, on sale is 249$..
@newstufftv great holistic review. Would you PLEASE to do a comparison between the BB3 & JBL 110?
so you can use the boombox 3 for multi room?
Can you plug up a usb stick with music?
Try connecting your DJI Mic to your Boombox 3 WiFi via the USB port.
When I'm using it outside [most of the time] Wifi is no use. What's wrong with streaming from phone anyway ?
So, question how do you connect to the speaker when you're down at the beach, where there isn't any WiFi..???
bluetooth 💀
Why does nobody play these speakers on there channel so we can actually hear them.
Ok I’m really not understanding the WiFi part. You can stream from apps but aren’t those apps on your phone? Why not open the app on your phone and just Bluetooth to the speaker. Again, I’m actually not getting it.
Boom 3 wifi i think it sound better then boom 3
Wifi sound is more live, boom 3 sung more like a speaker. I would of got wifi instead of boom 3.
whats the diference?
The WiFi
I already bought jbl boombox 3 wifi.
Its absolutely worth it guys, only missing is an aux output rather than its a monster
I sir do the Jbl boombox 3 do the handle become loose aver time or not
Wow it sounds great! I'm throwing out my current speakers now.
I am blind, but truly the speaker is great with exception of the phone, call interruptions, and the Wi-Fi will eliminate that which makes it fantastic however, will it eliminate it with the speakers Connected thanks 2:33 2:37
Bro, Wi FI is something you absolutely don't need. For what? You got it all with Bluetooth you need man.
IS THIS BETTER THAN THE TURTLEBOX SPEAKER????????????????????????????
I regret to say that I don't see any difference in the sound, I opted for Soundcore, the sound is much better and the price is half
Whats the best bb3 or pb310?
Pb310 is a lot louder but less sound quality, BB3 sounds better overall imo but only gets half as loud
Why not make 1 speaker with wifi Bluetooth and aux and dolby atmos
It boggles my mind why JBL released the three and then within six months of Wi-Fi Verison head makes no sense for marketing wise.
My question is, can you not achieve the same audio quality as the wifi edition by utilising an aux cable with the non-wifi speaker? Basically BB3 wifi edition vs BB3 non-wifi (but connected/playing via aux cable instead of blueteooth)
I always use the regular BB3 via aux. It may not have Dolby Atmos, but it's a whole other story compared to Bluetooth.
@@alessandroruta9272 Thank you very much. This was very insightful!
@@telomnisi3048 You're welcome! Be aware that when used via aux it always has 5-6 seconds of silence before it starts to play, also you cannot play it on very low volumes, it just cuts off.
@@alessandroruta9272yes the source volume needs to be high enough. Around 20% at least. You can also use the Buttons tho. At least I can on my bb2
After the age of 30, we begin to hear worse and the hearing loss increases year by year - on average at a rate of 0.5 dB per year for lower tones and about 1-1.2 dB per year for higher tones.🧐
In most cases, when hearing loss occurs, high-frequency hearing deteriorates first. High-frequency hearing loss means that a person hears high-frequency sounds worse or not at all.🫡
Therefore, for me, as a 50-year-old, the sound of a boombox 3 is not bad.🤣
Subwoofer?
It's a low mid and 40 Hz bass driver.
True subwoofers don't play low mids.
Both?
i think the speakers are more watts and it can be used as an sounbar
Can I use UA-cam music on that thing
Yes
Awesome video JDL. 😎
Is it possible to remove the handle on the boombox 3?
Yes but you will void the warranty as the unit needs to be taken apart
is it bigger than boombox 1 ?
No
Boombox 3 WiFi is wayy better than standard Boombox. It's now even more on deepside, it got even more rumbling more room vibrating deepside bass. Nicer tuning. Boombox 3 WiFi is better than standard cuz it sounds more nicer not harsher anymore. The EQ even more costumizeble not restricted of (+/-) anymore.
Deeper bass and less mids no doubt
@@Bennyblades44 wrong. You mean less upper bass.
Nope deeper bass
@@Unkown18346 yup deeper bass, but sounds like woo woo wooh at mak volume, kinda trash.
@@HAIYANE9910 I’d rather hear deeper bass than punchy bass regardless so the WiFi for me wins
is it possible to play music from usb stick on jbl?
No bro. Its just to serve as powerbank.
I wish i could have one of those speakers..
Certain rental company’s such as Aaron’s or rent a center do lease these to be kind of affordable in the sense you don’t have to pay all up front but in the end your paying more for it I think Aaron’s leasing fee by the end comes to about 3 to 4 hundred on top of the 500$ price tag
Until the Wi-Fi gets cut off and then you don't have nothing that's the deal-breaker😢
it still has bluetooth.
First JBL should take care software updates. Making bluetooth speaker the worst after the update. Boombox 3 has issues after the update and pulse 5 too. Cannot do the part boost between them.
Two exclamation logos, one is gold and one is silver😀JBL.
That's why you don't throw away your thousand-dollar old phone you turned it into a MP3 player and you don't have that problem😊
Or get an iPod 😂
How to keep jbl boombox unused for a long time
$649.00!!!! They’re smoking crack!
Costco has it for 499
@@joshuakeener4269 349 ;)
$550 at A California Best Buy. That’s including tax.
Actually ended up picking it for $349 at Costco the week of Black Friday.
@@nickb5091 smart buy. Which one? $500 plus $50 tax at Best Buy in San Diego in October.
More détails with Wifi ❤
Heres a little fun strange fact. If you travel like state to states, when you reach high elevations the passive radiators will pop out like they are swollen and once you come back down from elevation they will drop back in as if like pushing them in dramatically. I went to Colorado from here in ohio and took mine with me and noticed it, I was like what in the heck that is bizarre, lol.
did it affect performance? lol
@@ervinvelasquez3614 I'm not sure if it would affect the audio or not. To be honest, I didn't have it playing at the time it was happening. I would imagine it would just because of how much they were sucked in
"Now, once you open the speaker's booty..."
Connection problem, Music cut, manually reconnect every single time.
The way he lift that speaker is like nothing. Fyi those are heavy bad ass speaker.
I have the FLIP 5 but it’s getting old for me lol 😂
i like these boomboxes 😅
My boom box 3 always cuts out. Super annoying.
So if one is wifi, and the other Bluetooth, why do they both have Bluetooth symbols
The WiFi has Bluetooth and WiFi
Thanks for all the info!
