(iam a student) usually in our lab we slowly pour the agar into the medium mixture (so that the agar dissolves easier in hot water)while we boil it cus we were instructed to do so....i never tried mixing agar with cold water....didn't think it would dissolve but u dissolved it well...and whats hard about tissue culture is maintaining a contamination free culture.

Microwaves are a great way to have non sterile media and a low success rate, buy a pressure cooker for more consistent results. The microwave will work for a beginner that is not yet serious about this craft.

I have worked in a lab, but this is all hobby and self taught through Google. My background is in botany and environmental science though. All ingredients can be bought for a home lab

Sorry didn’t see this. MS you can buy with vitamins or if it’s separate I look for gamborgs vitamins. Agar I use is micropropagation agar A236 from phytotech
I have it on my site also : Check what it comes with. Some mixes have sugar, hormones, agar Agar usually most expensive. Once you understand it’s easier to make your own for cheap
