I've been listening to this all week, every day and I gotta say that this version of Straight Street is ridiculously good. The best I've ever heard anywhere. Completely lucid playing. Brad could do a whole master class on this bit of solo starting around here 46:19

Mehldau! One of the greatest pianists 🙏🏻
He won't be remembered in another 15 or 20 years. His playing has always been clever and sophisticated, and nearly dead. Every tune becomes an etude for him to demonstrate his technical facilities and sophistication. He rarely swings and his conceptions or renderings of pieces lack power, passion, and feeling.

Such beautiful deliberation. Mehldau asks each chord as it's played: "You right?" Yeah, says the chord. I'm right. This is a fine trio. maybe in another ten years I'll be okay on the piano.

Was Moseholm a student selected from the master class to perform w. Mehldau & Rossy? Maybe not, since I expect it was a piano master class. But then, Rossy has been known to play piano. In any case, congratulations, Mr. Moseholm.
Felix Moseholm was a Student at Juilliard at that Point. But he wasn‘t asked to join as a Student, he was just playing on a very high Level already. I beliebe Jorge recommended him, because they played together before.
